[Mission Evaluation Settlement in Progress...]
[Your mission evaluation is S]
He Ao looked at the subtitles flickering in his field of vision.
[Assassination Sabotage Evaluation: S (You perfectly sabotaged the Witch Church’s assassination attempt on the Mayor’s political rival, ensured Christos’s safety, and killed the Dancing Girl)]
[Evil God’s Advent Evaluation: S (You obstructed the summoning of the Witch of Desire’s subordinate, preventing it from obtaining enough sacrifices and a perfect vessel for its advent, ultimately leading to the death of the Witch of Desire’s subordinate.)]
[Side Mission Evaluation: SS (Using special methods, you successfully killed the almost invincible subordinate of the Witch of Desire. Thousands of people who were supposed to die survived, preventing a potential massacre)]
[Hidden Mission Evaluation: SSS (You perfectly fulfilled Roy’s wish, became a great hero saving Dawn City, and inflicted substantial losses on the Nord Consortium. Your name will be passed down along with the stories of ancient heroes)]
[Your composite evaluation is: S]
Even with an SS, the overall evaluation is still S?
He Ao was momentarily stunned. Was the system’s evaluation method about counting the number of S’s?
So, seven S’s aren’t enough; I need at least eight?
The difficulty seems quite high.
He Ao rubbed his temples, shifting his gaze to the four detailed evaluations.
The first two poses no problem as the main mission. The Witch Church’s plan had two parts: assassinating Christos and summoning the Witch of Desire.
From the mission description, it seemed that the Witch of Desire’s subordinate didn’t need He Ao to kill it. This was consistent with He Ao’s estimation that if he hadn’t devoured the Dancing Girl’s Talent Sequence, relying only on two C-level abilities, he wouldn’t even be able to withstand the Witch of Desire’s subordinate’s attacks.
Looking at the several Copy World missions undertaken previously, the completion of the main mission was definitely within He Ao’s capabilities, while hidden and side missions required the use of other props or depended on He Ao’s own abilities.
For instance, the requirements of this main mission were quite simple: save Christos, destroy the Witch Church’s Sacrificial Array, and then wait for the Dawn City government or the Federal Bureau of Investigation to take out the Witch of Desire’s subordinate.
If He Ao merely sabotaged the sacrifice ritual, then went backstage to withstand the Dancing Girl’s attacks, held out until Selena arrived, escorted Christos out for Selena to whisk away, and then waited for the main force to kill the Witch of Desire’s subordinate, the mission would be accomplished.
He could even obtain a high evaluation for both main missions.
However, if he did that, it would be near impossible to achieve a high evaluation for his side and hidden missions.
If He Ao didn’t intervene, those onlookers would become blood food for the Witch of Desire upon its advent. Given Selena’s character, she would probably attack the Witch of Desire’s subordinate recklessly, possibly becoming seriously injured or even dying in the mission.
More importantly, according to the system’s mission description, if the Witch of Desire obtained these blood foods, it might trigger an even greater massacre before the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Dawn City government reinforcements arrived.
Because he saved those people and prevented a potential massacre, he obtained an SS evaluation for the side mission.
At the same time, he also completed the hidden mission.
Roy’s wish was actually Eno’s last will. Because Eno had lived in darkness all his life, he always hoped his child would differ from him.
Thus, he told young Roy many hero stories.
As a result, the adult Roy’s mindset always had a touch of naive idealism to the extent that he set very low prices for the products sold by his enterprise, hoping more people could enjoy better products.
But idealism couldn’t withstand the harsh attacks of the cruel world. The Nord Consortium bribed his fiancée to extract his business intelligence, then defeated his company with cheaper knock-offs and acquired his patents.
After accomplishing market monopoly, the Nord Consortium immediately exploited its dominant position to sell the products at a high price and obtained excessive profits.
All of this made Roy’s idealism seem almost laughable.
Bankrupted, wandering, and devastated, Roy fell into disarray, turning into a down-and-out middle-aged man. But in reality, his ideals hadn’t been extinguished, merely shrouded by the bleak reality.
He Ao withdrew his gaze from the system subtitles.
In fact, the first official mission was related to the third official mission.
Both Ande and Vianne were from Kaye City.
From the leads and timelines controlled by He Ao, around five years ago, Vianne’s grandfather in Kaye City had made basic achievements in gene potion research. After that, Roy’s father, Eno, was hired by the Nord Consortium. He infiltrated Vianne’s grandfather’s research institute as a bodyguard, attempting to steal technical information.
Meanwhile, the Witch Church, contracted by another consortium, went to assassinate Vianne’s grandfather and destroy his research results.
The Dancing Girl accompanied them as the supervisor for this event.
The eventual outcome was the murder of Vianne’s grandfather; Eno rescued Vianne, escaped back to Dawn City, and left his estate to Roy.
On the other side, Mu Xiu, who had been trailing the Dancing Girl, also arrived in Kaye City, where he encountered Ande’s parents who were out exploring mines, and killed them to please the God of Chaos.
After the murder of his parents, Ande studied hard and joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation during university, covertly investigating the cause of his parents’ death case. He was then assigned to Dawn City to join Selena’s Crime Investigation Unit Two, where he met the Dancing Girl and Mu Xiu. That was the story of the first official mission.
Then came the Witch Church’s attempts to pursue Vianne, leading them to Roy, followed by the story of the third official mission.
In this five-year span of events, three families and two Evil God Priests were tangled. Of these three families and two priests, only Vianne survived in the end. The trigger of the whole incident was merely the desire of two consortiums to snatch the gene potion developed by Vianne’s grandfather, using their illegal means.
Of course, the entire affair was mixed with a variety of factors and wasn’t that simple.
He Ao sighed. The system subtitles also slowly changed in his field of vision,
"Calculating mission rewards."
"Original mission reward: Talent Sequence 7: ’Onlooker’."
"Since you’ve received an overall mission rating of S, with all individual mission evaluations above S, and with one evaluation reaching SSS, your reward has triggered an ultra-luxury critical hit."
"As you have individual mission ratings of S, SS, and SSS simultaneously, with an overall evaluation not reaching SS, congratulations on achieving the ’Score Control Master’."
"Congratulations on triggering the achievement effect of ’Score Control Master’: If you have one SS rating and at least three mission ratings in ascending order, with an overall evaluation of S, your mission reward will include a random bonus item."
"Refreshing your reward."
"Refresh successful."
"Please choose one of the following three rewards:"
"1. Talent Sequence 29: Mercenary (E-level) (Bonus: ’Talent Sequence 56: Assassin’ secret medicine formula (D-level))"
"2. Ultra-high fidelity mechanized body (E-level) (Bonus: Critical laser cannon emitter (capable of damaging D-level and even some C-level entities, body will temporarily lose control due to overclocking after use))"
"3. Qi of Heaven and Earth (E-level) (Bonus: A strand of ’Innate Qi’ (unable to assist in breakthrough, but can be utilized))"
They were still arranged in the order of talent sequences, mechanical modification, and martial arts training methods.
This time, triggering the ’Score Control Master’ achievement meant the reward was upgraded in a sense.
But with a glance, He Ao realized that the situations in which this achievement could be used were too rare and basically amounted to a special reward for this particular situation where single mission ratings had hit SS but the overall evaluation hadn’t reached SS.
If possible, He Ao didn’t want the Score Control Master; he’d prefer a direct SS overall evaluation and another notch up on the critical hit. He wasn’t choosy.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t up for exchange.
He Ao focused his attention on the three rewards in his field of vision.
