Chapter 1210: Chapter 1210: Order in the Chaos and Pollution (Big Chapter, Asking for Monthly Tickets)

[The firewall has been breached.]

[Copying system files···]

Accompanied by Eve’s prompt appearing on the wristband, the screen in front of He Ao flickered and shifted into the system interface.

Obviously, the people from the Church of Chaos weren’t adept at handling electronic devices like these.

There’s no network in the wilderness, which means Eve on He Ao’s wristband could only utilize the computational power of the wristband itself.

Yet even under such conditions, Eve had effortlessly cracked the Church of Chaos’s firewall.

However, while the Church of Chaos couldn’t handle software issues, they could isolate the network using physical methods—the best firewall is a physical firewall.

With no network in the wilderness, this control room was situated deep within their stronghold.

The fact that an intruder could access the main control system was enough proof that the stronghold had already fallen.

This rendered the system virtually worthless for continued defense.

He Ao suspected that the Church of Chaos’s contingency plan likely involved destroying this control room entirely in the event of the stronghold’s collapse.

Unfortunately for them, they hadn’t anticipated that the force capable of bringing ruin wasn’t external—it came from the pseudo-wolves they themselves controlled internally.

He Ao’s gaze remained fixed on the screen in front of him, as files rapidly flashed across the display one after another.

Eve was leveraging the processing power of this control room itself to help him search through the files stored within this system.

In no time at all, all the files were categorized, and a summary report appeared on the screen.

He Ao opened the summary report.

The report chronologically outlined the formation of this branch of the Church of Chaos.

This branch originally consisted of a small group of chaotic believers active in the southern region of Minte City.

Approximately thirty-four years ago, a powerful chaotic believer came from the west, conquered this group, and took leadership over them.

This powerful believer was none other than Denock.

Previously, this small group of chaotic believers belonged to a sect within the Church of Chaos that leaned toward ’fundamentalism.’ In other words, it was a faction that upheld absolute chaos as a principle. They were loosely organized, often simply gathering together for their shared obsession with slaughter and sacrifice.

A recurring problem with chaotic believers of this faction was their tendency to venture too close to chaos, resulting in deteriorated mental states spiraling out of control.

More often than not, they would transform progressively into warped, bloodthirsty monsters through repeated acts of sacrifice.

Of course, in their own understanding, this ’warping’ represented a form of ’ascension’ closer to divinity. Rather than being repulsed by it, they would actively seek to embrace this transformation fanatically.

Left to their own devices, these chaotic believers would eventually traverse the path to becoming warped monsters.

Denock’s arrival, however, changed everything. According to the description in the system’s files, Denock ’brought civilization and radiant brilliance, waking the lost angel envoys from their intoxication and guiding them back to serving the Great.’

From this phrase, it seemed that Denock altered the beliefs of the fundamentalist chaotic believers, rallying them under his own command and successfully forming an organized chaos sect.

So what was the basis of his success?

He Ao glanced at the jade box held by Xiya.

The Tree Heart of the Eternal Tree inside the jade box could indeed shift the thoughts of chaotic believers, inclining them towards order.

However, this object was tainted with order’s corruption.

Using such a thing to transform the minds of chaotic believers—it’s akin to stoking flames with ice, isn’t it?

Two conflicting forces fused together—shouldn’t these chaotic believers have been utterly warped and shattered, morphing into monsters?

He Ao continued sifting through the report’s contents.

The next section mainly described the development of the stronghold.

After subduing the chaotic believers, Denock led them to the northern mountain ranges of Minte City, establishing a foundational stronghold.

At this point, He Ao flipped through earlier sections of the report.

The previous sections described how these chaotic believers were consistently active in the southern regions of Minte City and had never ventured north. They seemed to harbor a distinct aversion to the northern mountain ranges.

This aligned with He Ao’s assessments of the Church of Chaos. The northern mountains of Minte City are imbued with the power of order—a force that typically repels chaotic believers. Weiken was particularly disdainful of this mountain range. Were it not for the need to hunt down chaos strongholds within this region, he wouldn’t take even one step near these mountains.

Yet according to the report, those chaotic believers followed Denock obediently to the northern mountains of Minte City—a place brimming with the power of order.

This detail caused He Ao’s gaze to pause for a moment.

He suddenly recalled that Denock, even until his final moments, had never relinquished his identity as a human.

This was exceptionally rare among chaotic believers, particularly those of higher ranks.

For chaotic believers, physical flesh and bodily integrity weren’t of significant concern. Many chaotic believers even considered morphing into monsters to be a form of ’ascension’ closer to divinity.

In contrast, order church believers place much greater emphasis on the ’structural integrity’ of the flesh.

He Ao quieted his mind and recollected every detail of his battle with Denock.

There was no trace of order’s power within Denock’s body. From their combat interactions, Denock himself appeared firmly convinced of his identity as a chaotic believer.

Yet, within the realm of mysticism, belief doesn’t necessarily equate to reality.

Though Denock proclaimed his allegiance to chaos, his establishment of the northern mountain stronghold and his persistence in preserving a human identity both suggested a subtle inclination towards order.

While Denock lacked order’s energy, ’corruption’ affects not only the body and energy but also the mind.

He Ao reflected on the information transmitted from the Tree Heart of the Eternal Tree when he had come into contact with it.

In addition to revealing the tree heart’s capabilities, there was another fragment—it contained knowledge about the array sealing off the hall.

This knowledge was incomplete. The array appeared to have three layers, but the documentation only detailed two of its structures.

Overall, the array exhibited a distinct inclination toward order. It likely bore some connection to the Order Church or possibly represented a form of ’grace’ granted by order.

In essence, Denock implemented an order-aligned array using chaotic forces and placed it at the heart of his stronghold.

It was little wonder then that when He Ao disrupted the array, the surrounding chaotic forces became violently unstable.

He Ao ran his hand over the Chaos Magic Wand at his waist.

In his perception, the wand bore no trace of order’s energy.

This confirmed the notion that Denock’s corruption was indeed rooted in his ’mind.’ The artifacts he left behind after death, conversely, aligned more closely with ’pure chaos,’ making them highly attractive to chaotic energies.

But as a B-level chaotic believer, was Denock’s corruption, along with the mild corruption of other chaotic believers under his command, completely undetectable by the God of Chaos?

Could it be that for all those years, Denock never performed a single sacrificial ritual? Never directly attempted to hear his deity’s voice?

If his mind was entirely compromised, such a scenario might indeed be possible.

And he might remain entirely oblivious to the corruption.

At that moment, He Ao felt a chill ripple down his spine.

The power of gods is sometimes so unnervingly enigmatic.

When someone believes they still retain their sense of self, their habits, movements, and even aspirations and preferences could already be fundamentally altered, yet their awareness remains undisturbed.

Looking at the report in front of him, He Ao’s gaze froze momentarily.

He suddenly pondered—despite Denock abstaining from sacrifices for all those years, his body was covered with the graces of the God of Chaos. Was it truly impossible for the God of Chaos to sense that His graces enveloped a mutated soul?

Was it indifference on His part, or was there something ’obstructing’ His sight—something actively preventing Him from perceiving the abnormality unless His gaze was intentionally focused here?

Could exposing chaotic believers to the pollution of order represent a coincidental phenomenon or a meticulously orchestrated ’experiment’?

He Ao lifted his head and gazed briefly at the silent ceiling above, his thoughts seemingly piercing through the structure to the tranquil mountains surrounding the building.

Then, lowering his gaze, he turned back to the report before him. This was evidently not a matter within his reach at the moment.

Suppressing the tumultuous thoughts in his heart, He Ao attentively delved into the next section of the report.

The section covered two primary topics: one concerning the pseudo-wolves, the other regarding the sect’s ’development.’

He was already broadly familiar with the sect’s development. Denock had established connections with individuals from the Order Church through certain channels, eventually forming a cooperative relationship with them.

What followed was Denock’s journey into Minte City.

In contrast, the pseudo-wolf-related content unfolded shortly after Denock moved the stronghold into the northern mountains of Minte City.

The pseudo-wolf seemed drawn to the Tree Heart of the Eternal Tree and attempted to attack the stronghold, but it was no match for Denock and was subdued using sorcery to become the stronghold’s ’guard dog.’

However, the pseudo-wolf consistently sought to break free from its confinement, thus requiring periodic reinforcement of the sealing sorcery with chaotic energies.

During Denock’s time, he was personally responsible for these reinforcements. When Carlo arrived and ascended to B-level, the duty transferred to him.

Two days ago, Carlo was killed by He Ao; thus, the responsibility passed to the stronghold’s two C-level individuals. But their efforts proved inadequate—the reinforcement only lasted a few hours before requiring renewal.

He Ao recalled the two corpses from earlier in the hall. Those were likely the C-level guards responsible for maintaining the pseudo-wolf’s confinement; the pseudo-wolf had seized the opportunity to eliminate them and escape.

Having swiftly scanned through the report, He Ao reached the end, where Eve had compiled all the file materials.

His eyes immediately landed on one file titled [Diary (Decrypted and Converted)].

But he didn’t open this particular file for now, as at that moment, Eve had already finished copying the materials.

A comprehensive map of the stronghold appeared on the screen before He Ao.

He Ao unplugged the data cable, glanced at a specific point marked on the map, and swiftly led Xiya out of the control room.

——

Northern Mountains of Minte City

Amidst the snowstorm, a merchant convoy had halted in the expansive snowfield.

Inside the leading off-road vehicle, the elderly man sitting in the front seat lifted his head, gazing upward through the window.

"Are they not here yet?"

The driver, hands steady on the steering wheel, asked softly.

"Two more minutes."

The elderly man raised his wrist, checking the time displayed on his wristband.

Buzz——

At that precise moment, a thunderous roar pierced through the night.

The elderly man lifted his gaze toward the window.

A snow-white Blazing Angel Mech spewing fiery exhaust emerged from the farthest edge of the night sky.

Shortly following its arrival, a dense formation of mechas and Dragon Cavalry Fighters began surfacing in the night.

The array of mechas and fighters briefly surveyed the convoy below before rapidly descending.

"They’re here,"

The elderly man sitting in the passenger seat lowered his wristband. "Activate the transport machinery and proceed with delivery."

"Got it!"

The driver nodded, pushing the door open.

The frigid wind mingled with the shadows of night and snowflakes as it swept into the car’s interior.

——

Northern Mountains of Minte City · Chaos Stronghold

The sealed dome parted, opening to the sides, and icy wind with snowflakes drifted inward from the pitch-black firmament above.

The blood-red luminescence illuminated the angulated fighter beneath the dome, casting eerie hues.

He Ao stood near a small door adjacent to the fighter, reached out, and punched through the nearby safety cabinet, retrieving the key card within.

He couldn’t help but appreciate dealing with the Church of Chaos. Their straightforward approach included placing the plane’s key right next to the plane itself.

"A fighter here as well?"

Cradling the jade box, Xiya gazed upward at the bloodstained fighter standing center-stage in the hall, her expression tinged with amazement. "Is this a civilian model? It looks awesome."

"Evis Spatial System’s ’Ice Dart’ fighter,"

He Ao replied as he walked toward the fighter holding the key card. "Boasting excellent low-altitude, high-speed flight capabilities, alongside impressive maneuverability and combat performance, it was originally designed for wilderness users. Yet, due to its high price and lack of durability, its commercial success was mediocre, leaving it relatively unknown."

He Ao stopped in front of the fighter’s door, which automatically opened upon sensing the proximity of the key card.

He Ao stepped inside without hesitation, and Xiya followed him into the fighter.

"Did the Church of Chaos acquire this just for escape purposes?"

Xiya glanced around at the fighter’s interior with its leather accents. "They sure know how to splurge."

In the wilderness, preparing a high-performance fighter for emergencies was common sense.

"Probably fell for some sales pitch,"

He Ao remarked as he examined the fighter’s luxurious interior. "This particular model appears to be the ’Ice Dart’s’ deluxe edition—the top configuration, packed with comfort features that are practically useless out in the wild.

"The money spent on this could easily have purchased a small tactical mecha. While slightly less agile, it would offer far superior combat capabilities. This model is essentially the ’white elephant’ in Evis Spatial System’s showrooms, hardly selling at all."

He Ao shifted his attention back to the fighter’s controls. "Then again, it’s also possible the purchaser pocketed a kickback. Stock items like this sometimes have commission rates as high as 30%, even 50%."

Xiya widened her eyes slightly at these remarks, her expression clearly conveying, ’You city folks really overcomplicate things.’

Meanwhile, He Ao had already connected his wristband to the fighter’s control panel. As the machine came alive with a subtle hum, it began to rise into the air.

At the same time, He Ao extended his hand and activated his wristband, clicking open the [Diary] file he had seen earlier.

The diary wasn’t composed of written words—it consisted of fragmented audio recordings. The audio files seemed sourced from a wristband, bearing naming conventions typical for such devices.

However, He Ao didn’t have to listen to the recordings one by one. Eve had extracted the content and converted it into text form.

[Hah, those brain-addled morons worshiping stars as if they’ve gone senile think they can fool us by pretending to be us and attacking a shipment belonging to those order-worshiping pansies? Do they think we’re dumb enough not to find their hideout? Let’s see what goodies they’ve managed to snatch.]
