Chapter 116: Chapter 116: Lady in Red Dress (Please Subscribe, Favorite, and Vote for Monthly Ticket)

The silver-haired girl glanced at her wristband, confirmed that the order was complete, then adjusted her cloche hat and fixed her face mask before heading towards the automated ticket machine at the end of the street.

There were many large venues in Dawn City, each with its own set of rules. Some venues allowed entry by simply scanning a smart wristband, while others required a physical ticket.

This time, Qi Ke’s concert was one of those that required a physical ticket. After snagging one online, it was necessary to claim the ticket from a nearby automated machine before using it to enter Nord Hall.

Vianne didn’t choose the closest ticketing spot; instead, she circled a few streets. That way, even if she got exposed, her hideout wouldn’t be so easily discovered.

There were already several people queuing at this machine to collect tickets, all dressed in thick clothing, one girl even wore a men’s cloche hat similar to Vianne’s.

Vianne listened carefully to their conversation for a while, learning that they were all going to Qi Ke’s concert. Getting tickets on the last day was indeed an exciting affair.

After they got their tickets, they waited a bit, seemingly for someone else, but after a while, with no one showing up, they started to leave while sending messages on their wristbands.

Vianne watched them go and slowly approached the automated ticket machine.

The ticket collection process was rather complicated, involving account password verification, order QR code scanning, and phone verification code authentication — all these intricate steps mainly served to prevent ticket theft from accounts.

However, even though electronic defences were tight, physical tickets were not registered to names, and if you lost them, they were gone.

After a wait, two card-style concert tickets with chips slowly emerged from the machine.

Vianne, with her head lowered, picked up the two tickets and again pressed down her cloche hat. These self-service machines generally had small cameras installed on top. Although the chances were low that the Witch Church would access such internal corporate security footage, Vianne still took precautions.

She tucked the tickets into her clothing and then raised her wristband.

"Jessie," came an excited young boy’s voice from behind. He yanked off Vianne’s hat, "Where are the others?"

Her satin-like silver hair cascaded down.

Vianne quickly gathered her silver hair and, while stepping back, turned around. In the moment, her mechanical arm activated, but the face she met was that of a chubby boy with some lingering freckles.

At that moment, the boy seemed to realize his mistake, his face turning a little red.

Vianne stepped forward, snatched back her hat, put it on her head, and then pointed in the direction where the previous group had left, "Your friends went that way."

"Ah, sorry, you have really nice hair," he said.

The chubby boy immediately bowed in apology and then scurried off.

Vianne paid him no further attention. She tidied her silver hair under her hat and glanced back at the automated ticket machine before slowly making her way deeper into the street.

When there was no one around, she raised her wristband and sent out a message,

[Old Geezer, I got the tickets.]

----

He Ao glanced at his wristband and casually replied,

[Good, send me your payment account, I’ll transfer the money to you, and I’ll come to find you later.]

A reply came through immediately,

[Sure, don’t forget to have lunch, Old Geezer.]

...

He Ao put down his wristband, looked up, and saw the sign overhead,

[Huimei Communications]

"Do you need anything?"

A middle-aged man with short brown hair came out from the back room, looking puzzled at He Ao standing at the doorway.

"Need some Transcendent materials."

He Ao smiled and walked into the small shop.

"What is that?" The man looked bewildered at He Ao, "This is just a shop that sells smart wristbands. Of course, if you’re looking for some ’cheap stuff,’ I have some of that too, but as for these Transcendent materials you’re talking about, I really don’t know."

The so-called ’cheap stuff’ refers to stolen ’goods’. In Aston District, most shops in the chaotic areas sell these items, as it’s abnormal to be too clean in such places.

Without any nonsense, He Ao pulled out a short sword from under his coat and slapped it on the table, "Doctor Roger, an acquaintance once told me you have many peculiar things here. I want a Transcendent material that is colorless, odorless, not easily detected, and has a bit of the property of flesh and blood."

Roger’s gaze lingered on the short sword for a few seconds, then he sighed, "No wonder I haven’t seen Old Geezer’s walking stick, that old man really does talk too much."

He then turned around and headed to the back room, "Come in."

——

Vianne walked along the street, close to the wall, with few pedestrians around as usual, the ambiance tranquil as always.

The neon lights in front of the shops flickered slowly. Though not as dazzling as at night, they attracted attention just right.

She stopped when she passed a bakery. Many people were queued up in front of the shop, suggesting the fare might be quite tantalizing.

Aside from some new establishments that deceive with the ploy of hiring people to line up, the number of people queuing in front of a food shop is usually positively correlated with the shop’s tastiness.

So, when dining in an unfamiliar place, Vianne would prioritize eateries with queues.

She joined the queue for a while, selected a doughnut to take away, planning to have it for lunch.

It was then that she subtly sensed a change in the surrounding environment – she was attracting unusual attention.

Although her attire was slightly suspicious, this was the Aston District, where even people who walked the streets unclothed existed; her get-up was relatively normal here.

She pressed down her hat and quickened her pace while lifting her wristband.

——

The red dress sculpted the woman’s graceful figure, and the semi-transparent black stockings beneath added a touch of seductive allure.

Standing in front of a massive floor mirror, the woman smiled, appreciating her beautiful silhouette.

She seemed to be preparing for a resplendent ball.

"Perhaps you should take a look at this," the door to the room was slowly pushed open, and a somewhat seductive lady walked in, holding a tablet.

"What could be more important than getting ready for a concert?" The red-dressed woman said confidently and coquettishly as she took the tablet, her eyes fixed on a somewhat blurry photo. In it, a girl thoroughly wrapped up was tidying her beautiful silver hair.

"Such beautiful hair," the red-dressed woman said with a gentle smile, looking at the seductive lady in front of her, "So does this mean I can finally get hold of the last 30% of the payment that’s been deferred for five years?"

"But she’s out on the streets right now..."

The seductive lady seemed hesitant.

"Isn’t there a lot of gang conflicts in the Aston District lately?"

The red-dressed woman carelessly placed the tablet on the table.

——

He Ao stepped out of Roger’s private clinic with a metallic box in his hand.

Although he had obtained what he needed, the fellow really drove a hard bargain. Even now, giving the money as Roy, the small business owner, was somewhat painful.

He Ao got back into his car, placed the metal box on the passenger seat, and was about to start the vehicle.

His wristband suddenly rang.
