He Ao casually replied with a message, "Asleep, good night, rest early."

Then he stowed away his bracelet and looked around at the firearms.

He took down each gun, disassembled and reassembled them, familiarizing himself with each one, then he locked the door, jammed the windows, took the alarm from the secret room and placed it by the doors and windows, and then arranged the bed to look as if someone was sleeping in it before sitting down on the sofa in the corner and closing his eyes.

The lights in the room gradually went out.

...

As the moon set and the sun rose.

When the first rays of dawn lit the whole room, He Ao woke up from his deep sleep.

Last night there had been no nocturnal attacks, it seemed Qi Rui’s death had not yet been discovered by the Witch Church, and aside from Qi Rui, the Witch Church had not placed any more eyes on ’Roy’.

After all, Roy was a decadent middle-aged man with poor physical fitness, and sending an F-rank Transcendent was already considered top-tier.

This was good news, He Ao checked the time, it was seven in the morning now, Qi Rui’s shift ended around one or near two in the morning, according to the dance hall’s schedule, she would start her shift around five in the afternoon.

The alley He Ao chose was extremely secluded, besides vagrants, probably only gang members in a scuffle would discover Qi Rui’s body lying there.

Those people would only strip Qi Rui of her possessions without reporting to the police, so even if members of the Witch Church mingled with Qi Rui in the White Rabbit Dance Hall, they would not realize something was amiss until after five in the afternoon.

In other words, from now until five in the afternoon, during this period, the Witch Church would have no eyes on He Ao, and they would be unaware of his actions.

With this in mind, He Ao got up and opened the secret room.

Ten minutes later, he walked out of the apartment carrying a long, black briefcase.

Then he took the elevator straight to the underground parking garage.

He then took out the car key that was kept in the secret room.

This key was a black, five-centimeter long, one-centimeter high mechanical-looking rectangle.

He Ao stepped out of the elevator and casually pressed the key.

A little glimmer of light emerged from the left side of the key.

It was indicating which direction he should go.

Roy had once lived large and thus was not unfamiliar with these popular settings among luxury cars.

Taking a few minutes, He Ao found a vehicle fully shrouded in a black car cover in the underground parking garage.

The car cover was caked with dust, and with a sweep of his fingertips, He Ao easily drew a clear streak across it. He grasped the car cover and pulled off the filthy shroud with a jerk.

A sleek, jet-black sports car appeared in front of him, with lines like a crouching cheetah.

Bold and handsome.

He Ao’s eyebrows twitched; in Roy’s memory, his father was a serious yet gentle man, and it now appeared that the old man was also quite flashy.

This car wasn’t registered under Eno’s name, so it had not been accounted for in the settlement of the estate, nor was Roy himself aware of its existence.

He Ao walked to the back of the car and unplugged the charger connected to the vehicle.

Such cars usually have a battery protection module installed so that even if left continually charging, the battery would not get damaged, but rather would maintain the car at a minimal level when not in use.

He Ao placed the key in front of the driver’s side door. With a soft beep, the door opened in response.

This was a two-seater sports car, its interior slightly aged. A long golden pendant hung on part of the front window, upon which He Ao opened the pendant to reveal a family portrait of three.

Then he got into the car, placed the car key on the divider between the driver and co-driver’s seats.

The key was immediately absorbed, followed immediately by a rapid descent of the key-holder area, firmly trapping half of the car key in the divider.

"Welcome back," greeted a gentle female voice as the huge hardtop sprang up in response, gradually retracting backward into the rear trunk while the main control display screen beside the steering wheel slowly lit up.

He Ao opened the front trunk, put the black briefcase inside it, then sat back down in the driver’s seat.

He glanced at his bracelet and realized that Vianne had sent him a message last night.

[Good night, Uncle]

He Ao smiled and shook his head, then started the sports car.

----

Dumel National Cemetery is located in the central district of Crown District; it sits at the very heart of old Dawn City.

As the Federation’s most famous national cemetery, it houses the remains of many distinguished individuals.

These include the Federation’s first president, numerous founders of the Federation, and federal officials who died in office. Of course, the majority are those warriors who sacrificed themselves to defend human civilization.

For everyone living in the Federation, being buried at Dumel National Cemetery is a great honor,

it proves that your deeds have been recognized and praised by the entire Federation, and your name will be enshrined in the history of the Federation forever.

The blond woman slowly placed the fresh flowers in front of the cold tombstone, silently gazing at the words engraved on it.

[Ande Stickwich]

[734~756]

A gentle breeze lifted her blond hair.

Dumel National Cemetery is a multi-level structure, each level meticulously designed by botanists and horticulturists. It hosts verdant grasslands, swaying trees, and an environment that is nearly fully open.

Each level has no walls, just nurseries built along the edges, and what supports every level are huge load-bearing pillars that are disguised as trees or works of art.

With this carefully devised setting, the multi-story structure, located in the Steel Jungle, doesn’t feel as oppressive as other buildings, but instead exudes a wild, natural, fresh, and beautiful vibe.

Selena gathered her hair and turned to leave, but then she noticed a tall and straight figure coming to a stop beside her.

He was a rugged and handsome middle-aged man with sharp features. He wore a neatly pressed black trench coat, his face calm, exuding a cool and deadly aura.

"Miss Selena, Federal Bureau of Investigation Supervisor?"

He Ao crouched down, placed the fresh flowers in front of Ande’s tombstone, and asked in a gentle voice.

"Who are you?"

Selena looked at He Ao with curiosity.

"A mercenary on a mission," He Ao slowly stood up, "Someone tasked me with investigating the Witch Church hiding in Dawn City, and I happen to have discovered some clues. Would you like to know their whereabouts?"

The information in his statement was a bit much to take in all at once, so Selena took a moment before she asked softly, "What do you want?"

Mercenaries are profit-driven, and when one comes forward claiming to have important information, more often than not, they’re waiting for you to offer a good price.

"I heard the ’Dancing Girl’ was caught?"

He Ao suddenly asked.

"She was sentenced to 347 years of imprisonment."

Selena looked at He Ao warily, as this piece of information wasn’t particularly significant and could be researched online with some effort.

"But I think I saw her in Alisel yesterday."

He Ao revealed a smile.

"What?" Selena was taken aback and frowned, "Do you have evidence?"

"I have another piece of information about the Witch Church. Would you like to know?" He Ao continued smiling at her, "About their plans to act tonight in a crowded area."

"What do you really want?"

Selena raised her head and gazed at him calmly.

"I’d like you to help me borrow something from the Federal Bureau of Investigation."

He Ao revealed a smile.
