Chapter 1157: Chapter 1157: Call from the Order Church (Requesting Monthly Tickets)

Bright lights illuminated the spacious hall, where dense crowds of soldiers and people were moving between devices glowing with radiance.

Screens hung above the hall, displaying surveillance views from different angles on the city walls.

At the end of the hall, there was a semi-circular arrangement of four enormous screens, each divided into twelve smaller windows showing scenes around the four city gates from various angles.

He Ao stepped out of the elevator, his gaze sweeping across the bustling hall.

"Mr. Suote,"

At that moment, an officer who appeared to be in a civilian role approached him, saluted, and pointed towards an area at the end of the hall separated by a control console, speaking softly, "Mr. Owai is over there."

He Ao lifted his head to look in the direction indicated.

Faintly, he could see Owai standing behind that console, engaged in a heated discussion with some officers.

"Alright, I got it."

He Ao nodded slightly.

"Then you carry on with your duties."

The officer saluted He Ao once again before quickly stepping back into the crowd.

He Ao’s gaze swept over the various surveillance screens around him, slowly making his way towards Owai through a less crowded area along the edge of the hall.

Just then, his wristband vibrated slightly, and the crisp ringtone of an incoming call squeezed into his ear through a tiny Bluetooth earpiece.

He raised his wrist, glancing at the caller ID on the wristband.

It was an unrecognized number not saved in his online address book.

He Ao immediately reached out to hang up the call and continued forward.

The wristband quieted down, and the caller did not immediately call again, but just as He Ao moved a few steps forward, his wristband vibrated once more.

He lifted his wristband, and it was still that number calling.

The surrounding clamor felt distant, as He Ao was now in a deserted corner by the windows of the hall.

After a brief pause, He Ao raised his hand and answered the call.

A neatly dressed man in a white silk suit, with slightly white temples and a refined, gentle appearance appeared in He Ao’s view.

He sat behind an old-fashioned mahogany desk stacked with basic books, with a mahogany bookshelf crammed with numerous books behind him.

He lifted his hand right then, taking a ceramic tea set by his side, and poured out a cup of black tea.

"Suote, I thought you might not want to answer my call."

The man passed the black tea in front of the camera, as if preparing black tea for He Ao as well, then he lifted the teapot to pour himself another cup.

"Usually, when I encounter unknown telemarketing calls, I directly hang up,"

He Ao touched his ear as if hearing some noise, shrugged his shoulders, and casually said.

The man’s action of pouring tea paused slightly, then he smiled and said, "Unknown calls bring not just ’sales pitches’, but also ’surprises’."

The tea leaves slowly filled the ceramic cup, the man smiled somewhat sentimentally, "Do you remember the ’Secret Medicine’ formula I mentioned last time? The Church has decided to directly provide this formula to you, isn’t that a surprise?"

"The Church is not trying to kill me anymore?"

He Ao glanced at the man, squinted his eyes, and smiled.

The man in front of him was indeed the ’contact person’ from the Order Church responsible for connecting with ’Suote’, - Dailot.

The other was a few years older than Suote, had once served as the secretary of the finance minister of the Cabinet, then retired early from the Federal Central government, and now was the executive director and financial advisor of the Federation’s second-largest financial conglomerate, Gorman Investment Bank.

"Perhaps you have a misunderstanding about the Church,"

Dailot smiled, "The Church holds no malice towards believers who share our faith."

He Ao looked at Dailot, smiled, and said, "Then just give me the Secret Medicine formula directly."

"You know, this is a Divine Being’s Grace, we can’t simply decide on our own,"

Dailot didn’t provide the so-called ’formula’, but rather brought the tea to his lips, smiling, "We need to know if the recipients, the believers of the Order, are steadfast in their faith."

He Ao slightly lowered his gaze, watching him with interest.

"I heard you executed your mission in Minte City very well,"

Dailot seemingly didn’t notice the change in He Ao’s expression, continued, "You severely damaged the branches of the Church of Chaos near Minte City, fully completing the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s mission, but..."

"Did I do something wrong?"

He Ao suddenly interjected.

"Yes, certainly,"

Dailot’s words stiffened, and the smile on his face froze, but soon, he regained his ’natural’ smile, "Every devotee of the Order should take it upon themselves to erase chaos, you have done very well."

He paused, seemingly disrupted by He Ao from his original rhythm, and after regathering his words, he soon spoke again, "The Church is very satisfied with your execution, you have done very well in this mission, the Federal Bureau of Investigation should also reward you."

He paused and continued,

"You know, the chief of staff of the Federal Bureau of Investigation is going to retire soon, and the current two deputy chiefs of staff are quite old, the Federal Bureau of Investigation urgently needs fresh blood.

"Your merits and age just meet the requirements, I heard that the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation likes you very much, and after the successful completion of this mission, I believe many people would hope you could advance further.

"The only thing you lack is strength, with your C-level strength, it’s difficult for you to convince people even as a deputy chief of staff, let alone becoming the chief of staff."

His tone paused, meaningfully looking at He Ao, "But if you can become a B-class ’Collaborator’, everything would be different, your path to becoming the chief of staff would be smoothly paved.

"I believe everyone would be quite pleased to see this situation, you are still so young, although you have been delayed for a few years in the position of deputy chief of staff, you can still advance further in the future,

"You could become the Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, or even leave the Federal Bureau of Investigation to become a highest commander of a branch of the Central Army, obtaining broader prospects for promotion within the Central Army.

"Or you could also enter the Senate or even the President’s Cabinet, becoming a major figure who governs the Federation, your surname would be passed down, your offspring would stand with those legendary families’ descendants, becoming a part of this eternal Order."

"Sounds wonderful,"

He Ao smiled, "So, what’s the price?"

"Price?"

Dailot started, smiled and said, "Of course, most ’good things’ in this world come at a cost, but isn’t it normal to receive a little ’reward’ for so much you have done for the Order?"

His tone briefly paused, he continued smiling, "We all know that you have already done well enough in this mission, the remaining Chaos Sect can be eradicated by Minte City’s own forces.

"In Ains, you have more important tasks to do,"

He slightly sipped his tea, smiled and said,

"Pacify the ancient presidential families that were frightened by the Church of Chaos through banquets and balls,

"Pour a glass of rich ’Winsnie’, try some smoked sausage specially from Vilensis, and dance with those beautiful ladies; such work is equally important, isn’t it?

"Staying up late to attend balls is also not trivial harm to the body, and with the help of these ancient families, you will be able to advance further in the Federal Bureau of Investigation more easily."

"I seem to have already heard ’Vost’s Ninth Symphony’."

He Ao watched Dailot in the scene and smiled.

"You know,"

Dailot sipped his tea, smiling, "Now in Ains, this piece is popular, everyone likes to have bands play it at balls, but there is a growing trend for ’Vost’s Twelfth Symphony,’ this piece is more prosperous and heart-touching.

"Young people like such music, blending some classical techniques with romanticism, emphasizing the music’s lightness and richness; they call it ’New Classical School’ or ’Courtly School’,

"Of course, some also call it ’Prosperous World Musical School’, the flourishing and dazzling world."

"Prosperous World Musical School,"

He Ao glanced out of the window at the tents and shacks crushed by snow between the buildings, turned his gaze back to Dailot, "Nice name,"

Then he shrugged, smiled and said, "Unfortunately, you know, I’m not too fond of listening to these pieces, nor am I fond of attending balls, I prefer working outside, Minte City is a nice place, isn’t it?"

Upon hearing this, Dailot’s smile slightly tightened, holding the porcelain tea cup, he smiled and said, "People’s personalities and habits can change, for an outstanding person like you who has suffered a lot since childhood, it’s normal to have such habits,

"But you are now approaching the core circle of the Federation, you should try to get in touch with and enjoy the lifestyle of the core circle, perhaps, you might have a different experience?

"This is the flourishing world granted by Order, we should accept it."

"Maybe I’m just destined to toil, I can’t accept it,"

He Ao smiled as he looked at Dailot, "I’ll stay in Minte City for a few more days first, sort out the matters of Minte City before discussing further."

Upon hearing this, Dailot’s smile completely sank, he looked at He Ao, his voice growing cold, "Suote, are you going to betray the call of Order again? Do you know you are currently walking on a wrong path, you’re challenging the Order, destroying the Federation!"

"Until the road has not come to an end, who knows whether it is wrong or right?"

He Ao smilingly said.

"Don’t think that by doing a bit in Minte City, you’ve become arrogant,"

Dailot’s voice turned cold, "Even if you bind all the forces of Minte City together, they are not enough to deal with the two outside Mercenary Corps, your attempt to resist the Order, resist the Federation, will only be crushed to dust by the wheels of history.

"All you do is meaningless, time will erase all traces, history won’t even leave your name."

"Oh,"

He Ao raised an eyebrow, "Are those two mercenary corps outside truly related to you?"
