Chapter 103: New Sector! - Transportation

The breathing of many fogged up while waiting for Gort’s approval.

Gort shrugged, feeling that the matter of the Flood was not so secret in his opinion.

Didn’t he write excessively on the Flood’s coming? His warnings were discarded by the country and even outsiders who glimpsed at it. That being said, he would indeed like for things to be hushed for now, less it causes panic to spread in some regions.

Even though a majority of the world would find it ridiculous and unbelievable, don’t doubt the abilities of the few that would believe... Who knows if they would turn into phycos, feeling the end was near, so they can do what they liked?

Gort has always moved with caution. With his approval., Park Fairbang released his spider money from his wrist.

"Guard the Areas 1 and 2 well and report any intruders spotted."

[ Leave it to Willow, Master. ]

Akin’s family was taken aback when seeing the cool transformation happen right before their very eyes.

FUCK? The T-100?... Terminator?

Could this be the start of Genesys?

Look left, look right, they tried their best to hide their shock when seeing how calm the others were. Hold on, on closer inspection, everyone here including Akin wore these bracelets... Then... then... does that mean that the bracelet they teased Akin about all this while was also a spider bracelet?

Akin understood their shock and gave them a prideful stare. Hey, now you regret it? Weren’t you the one saying that my bracelet was just a boring silver ring with no carvings on it? Now, are you envious?

Heh.

...

Down the stairway everyone went, bypassing tight security until they reached the base. Then he took them into the entryway of his lab. Behind them was the door they came through, and before them was a thick glass screen overseeing the experimental space ahead.

The space they were currently in was blank and empty—No books, no seats... nothing. Well, nothing except for the cocoons of spider balls on the ceilings. The spiders in the cocoons listened to Mother, and Gort.

So before coming down, Gort had communicated with Alice, resulting in no actions from the cocoons. Yet, everyone saw pairs of glowing purple beastly eyes blink from time to time within the shadows of the cocoon’s opening.

Although Mother says you all are guests? Don’t even think of pulling a fast one on us!... That would be what they imagined those spiders to be saying.

Akin’s family was especially amazed, shocked and fearful. What sort of genius laboratory have they ventured into? No one needed to say it, but they felt that one small move, and it would be GAME OVER.

Everyone waited, while Gort made his way into the other room.

Alright...

Gort peered through the glass wall with a knowing smirk on his lips.

"From Food to VR, we amazed the world. But, as you all know, to prepare for the end, we need more than that."

"That’s why what I’m about to show you now, will not only blow the minds of many others, but will also be of great help when the end of Time Comes!"

This... this... this... The End of Times?

A sense of forbearing settled in their bellies, as Akin’s family subconsciously moved closer to each other.

They knew it! They knew it! Something was definitely up here! No wonder Dad/Hubby/father-in-law was adamant about sending them to live in Geldhan village while he stays back alone in the county. Now it makes sense. He must have known that the world was coming to an end, and had begun making preparations.

Several people were immediately sad, especially Akin’s pregnant daughter. The child hasn’t been born yet, and he is already facing the possibility of extinction. Who would not feel sad?

Despite their need for clarity and answers, they knew now was not the time for that. Through the glass screen, they could see Gort grab hold of an item they were more or less familiar with.

"Brother Gort, what is that? Is that a mix of a skateboard, a ski-board, and a hoverboard?"

Tutu was the one who questioned, tilting her head cutely.

"You could say that," Gort attested, sweeping his eyes across the masses. "Like I said, the end is near. And when the time comes, humanity will at least have a sustainable way to grow large amounts of food in a limited time span."

Akin’s family and Martha, nodded in understanding. So that was why he created GF WorldTech Agriculture... And what about GF WorldTech Communications?

"When the End comes, Mobile phones will be unreliable. Phone company towers will be buried in seas of water, and everything will shut down. But thanks to our VR technology, we won’t have to worry about that.

Ohhhh~

The first time comers bobbed their heads in understanding.

As Gort spoke, he slowly walked to the board.

"Food... communications... all those will be later improved. But for now, Transportation will be our next primary goal. Which is why—"

Gort paused, placing his feet onto the carved out areas on the board. And with the

[ System Initiated. Please begin authentication...] A robotic but very human-like voice echoed from the board, causing several first-time watchers to jolt back.

WIPE! What was this sci-fi scene they were watching?

Everyone watched as Gort took another step back, allowing the board to compress into the length, and width of a notebook. At this point, it resembled a tablet. Gort went through identification and then commended the Tablet to return to its true form.

Tsrip!

His legs were bolted in as if he was on a ski-board. And then, they watched its rims and lower edges light up, starting with Red, then yellow, and finally GREEN.

[All system’s functioning as expected. I am Prototype Glinda, Daughter of Alice. I have all GPS routes configured, and a safety bubble mechanism to keep any flying debris away. ]

[ When you give the order, a countdown will begin before departure. If you do not like this countdown, you can simply tell Glinda to take it off! ]
