Volume 6 Chapter 0: The Birth of the Destroyer

Holy Kingdom of Gadomia — Ruled by Alwin the Hero King.

In a room filled with spider webs, eight red eyes blinked in the darkness.

Meine, who was resting upside down on the ceiling, felt the magic signal from her guild ring indicating a message had been received. She gracefully leaped down to the ground and walked slowly to the window illuminated by moonlight.

"...Half of Chesaatla has become a land of ice and fire? That Labyrinth city?" After a moment, Meine furrowed her brow.

There was too much information in this intelligence. Meine fetched a glass of water, took a sip, and organized her thoughts.

A few months ago, Krista temporarily left the [Mutual Aid Society], saying she needed to attend to personal matters, and then disappeared without a trace, only to reappear within the borders of the Dwarven Empire.

But— to think she appeared with information about a city's destruction!?

Krista actually engaged in combat with someone under such unprepared circumstances!? If it were within the jurisdiction of the Western Vantinom-Bishop Branch church, it would be understandable, but in the neutral Dwarven Empire?

How should this situation be handled!? If not dealt with properly, the [Mutual Aid Society] will only gain another enemy, and that enemy is a country with deep-rooted power!

Moreover, the land of ice and fire... the opponent Krista encountered is actually her.

"Kediss..." Meine really didn't want to mention that name.

Nowadays, the [Mutual Aid Society]'s actions are constantly hindered, with at least thirty percent of them being her doing!! Nowadays, one of the main reasons why the people fear the [Mutants] so much is due to her doing.

And if Krista is her opponent, I really don't know if Krista can come out unscathed...

"...Oh, it seems she did come out unscathed." Just then, the image crystal in Meine's arms also emitted a magical signal.

Meine activated the image crystal, and it began to slowly melt, projecting a magical image at the same time, gradually forming and combining, until finally, the face of a woman appeared in the background of the screen.

"Hi, my dear Miss Scholar, do you miss me?" The voice from the other end of the screen was somewhat hoarse.

She seemed to be... lying in a large pile of rubble?

"Where's your pipe?"

She ignored Krista's teasing, Meine didn't want to recall the embarrassing things that always happen when they are fighting near each other.

Why does the phenomenon of "skeleton riding spider” — Spider Jockey — occur spontaneously whenever a [Skeleton Archer] and a [Spider] meet? It always make her want to hide herself in a hole when they separated.

Sadly, once the [Vassal of The Flame] sat on her back, for some reason, she lost all of her resistance, becoming more of a horse than a spider.

"Hm? it's broken, but I burned a ton of her soldiers. You should really see how much she's hurting." Krista laughed heartily, looking somewhat unbearable in the picture.

Tattered clothes, dried wounds all over her face, and those wounds were actually emitting strands of gray smoke, plus this mentally deranged girl occasionally spewing out thick smoke while speaking, making the whole image unclear.

She’s just like a corpse with its insides being lit on fire... Well, considering she’s both a [Skeleton Archer] and a [Vassal of The Flame] all at once, it’s not wrong.

Her original form was that of a [Skeleton Archer], which made her fear flames; however, being the [Vassal of The Flame] also gave her the trait of being unafraid of flames and able to heal in flames.

The conflicting traits resulted in her body constantly burning and regenerating, constantly emitting smoke from her body every time she opened her mouth.

Because it was too frightening to look at, she had to disguise it with a pipe, and when someone asked why there is smoke coming out of her mouth, she would always say it's because of the pipe.

"...You better go get a pipe, then take care of your wounds with some needle and thread or something.”

"Yes, yes, I'll listen to you, Miss Scholar, by the way, you're using such a precious image crystal just to tell me these things? You better say what you need to before this crystal fails."

"Yes, just some things I wanted to remind you to be aware of," Krista said.

"Speak."

...

After a while, the image crystal completely melted, and Krista's image disappeared.

Be cautious of the glowing white eyes? Possession? What does this mean?

Suddenly, Meine remembered something.

Alwin has been avoiding meeting with her for some time, acting very strangely. And the last time she saw him, his eyes seemed...

Meine rushed out of her room in a panic, and when she noticed the lack of light upon the sky, she realized immediately that something had changed.

Something dark, most likely black magic, is engulfing the sky, covering the entire kingdom like how a blanket would cover a bed.

The black, murky magic engulfing all of Gadomia, just looking at it made one uncomfortable— What is this!?

In the dark hall, Alwin stood beside the throne.

"Accept me, and all your wishes will be fulfilled," before him stood a pale girl with white eyes— "Lori" said so.

"Hehehe— hehehe— I must— I must kill all those demonic creatures— come, my body is the best vessel— fulfill your request, then fulfill– my wish."

Alwin laughed maniacally, his crazed and angry eyes filled with madness.

"Lori" smiled, then suddenly let out a mournful cry, clutching her body in pain and collapsing. After dry heaving a few times, she vomited an extremely murky gas.

The gas hovered in the air for a moment before finding its target and aggressively lunging towards Alwin, invading every orifice – eyes, ears, nose, mouth. Alwin's body trembled, and he knelt down with arms spread wide.

"Ugh— hah—” Lori, kneeling on the ground, spat out a mouthful of black blood and struggled to lift herself up.

The evil spirit that always occasionally possessed his body left— but, why like this—?

Lori coughed up another mouthful of black blood, and the tainted bloodstains on the ground emitted an extremely ominous magic, corrupting the floor of the hall into a swamp, filled with an unbearable stench of death, spreading and contaminating anything it touch.

No, if someone gets injured in this place— The people around—

"Hehehehe—" Alwin let out a deranged laughter, opening his eyes.

A pale light radiated from them.

He has obtained Nature, Water, Flame, Earth, Darkness, now that he has obtained this body, he has also obtained Light— then, the next one is Wind.

But before that, He needed to eliminate that disobedient puppet that had stalled his plan for so long.

"Alwin" drew the holy sword from his back, and instantly, holy magic filled the entire hall, purifying everything impure within.

On Lori's body, the magic of death surged out, layer upon layer, resisting the erosion of light magic.

“Who— Gah— are you—?" Lori gasped for breath as she stood up, looking at the "Alwin" before her.

"Me? How could you not know who I am?" Alwin— no, perhaps he shouldn't continue to be called Alwin anymore, "—It’s me, Herobrine."
