Chapter 1472: Chapter 1472: 9-Day Thorn
Hatred can easily rob a person of their sanity.
Micah didn’t want to live a disgraceful life.
He had spent his whole life as a Vein Holder, indulging in luxury with three wives and multiple concubines.
Yet now, he was as wretched as a dog, controlled by others.
Faced with the hopelessness of reviving the Micah Will lineage, he’d rather choose death.
He didn’t want to live every day in fear, struggling with hunger and cold, fleeing for his life.
Besides, the location of the Nine Heavens Dagger’s hiding place was known only to him.
If Micah died, the secret would sink into oblivion, and the Nine Heavens Dagger might disappear for countless years.
Perhaps it would never see the light of day again.
Even in death, he would take this secret with him!
Micah wanted to make those who sought the Nine Heavens Dagger despair!
The Seven Veins, seven unique weapons, each indispensable.
The other six Veins carried their weapons with them at all times; after all, they were Divine Artifacts of unparalleled power!
But Micah chose a different path.
He used the unique techniques of the Micah Will lineage—Formation and Feng Shui—to seal the Nine Heavens Dagger in a hidden location.
Aside from Micah himself, no one could even find a trace of it.
But now!
Micah could no longer endure.
He hated!
He hated Jace Will!
If possible, he would choose to perish together!
A hundred meters felt endlessly long.
Jace Will, his legs completely shattered, overwhelmed by terror, was physically drained and unable to keep going.
Every few meters, he had to stop and gasp heavily for air.
And while Micah still had a sturdy frame, excessive blood loss left him weak like an old man past his prime.
A mere hundred meters, yet the two labored slowly and arduously as they crawled.
Jace Will wanted to survive!
Micah wanted to kill!
Once a father and son, now mortal enemies at each other’s throats in this warehouse!
One sought murder, the other sought life.
Clearly, the energy one unleashed in pursuit of survival outweighed both physically and mentally the drive to kill.
Jace Will gritted his teeth and pushed himself to his limits, finally reaching within ten meters of the weapon box.
Micah, on the other hand, aged and weakened, though formidable in his prime, found himself twenty meters away from the weapon box that could bring him vengeance—his legs crippled, his blood depleted.
Micah despaired.
Suddenly.
The warehouse’s large screen began playing a video.
It was footage secretly filmed by Julius Reed’s men after infiltrating Micah Will’s domain once Micah was ousted.
On the screen, Micah’s most beloved woman, Rhidian, was ruthlessly killed by Jace Will with a single sword strike!
“No!”
Micah’s eyes widened in rage, crawling furiously toward the weapon box!
He ignored the pain, ignored his exhaustion, pressing forward as though fueled by sudden vitality!
Yet ultimately, he was still three meters short!
Jace Will seized the weapon box, laughing madly!
“Old man! Thank you. Your life buys me the ticket out of here.” He laughed recklessly, aiming the weapon box at his own father!
“I agree!”
Micah roared!
“What?”
Jace Will froze.
Agree to what?
Agree to die?
What a joke—he had the weapon box in his hands! Whether Micah lived or died was entirely within Jace Will’s control!
Why would he need Micah’s agreement?
But suddenly!
Jace Will felt his body lift off—it was as though he were floating, pulled into the air!
The weapon box dropped to the ground.
“What’s happening?” Jace Will roared. “I clearly won, why was I just hoisted up? Who’s there? Come out!”
Seeing victory within his grasp yet finding himself suspended, Jace Will’s psychological state crumbled completely.
As his words echoed.
The warehouse door swung open.
Two Martial Artists carried an utterly fatigued Micah out of the warehouse, leaving Jace Will alone, screaming furiously in mid-air.
“Tell me, where is it?” Julius Reed, dressed entirely in black and wearing a mask, stood before Micah: “If you help me, I’ll let you kill Jace Will and restore you to the Micah Will throne.”
“Are you certain?” Micah’s once dull eyes suddenly gleamed with a sharp light.
“Of course, I’m capable of doing so.”
Julius Reed calmly said, folding his hands across his chest: “The fact that I could capture both you and your son shows my ability. As for reinstating you as the Vein Holder, it only requires two conditions. First, kill Jace Will. Second, appoint men to clean up your domain.”
Micah hesitated, but he felt tempted.
The Nine Heavens Dagger was but an inanimate object; it held no inherent value.
If it could be exchanged for his former glory, he would consider the trade.
“How can I trust you?” Micah’s murky eyes suddenly flashed with piercing clarity!
Nobody voluntarily wished for death.
Unless life was worse than death!
If he could reclaim his position as the Micah Will Vein Holder, regain control, and enjoy wealth once more, why would he choose death?
To meet some West Sea deity?
To prove the North Sea’s dark truth?
Or to emulate Julius Reed and kneel in pursuit of death?
But Micah needed assurance!
If the Nine Heavens Dagger fell into the opposition’s hands and they walked away, he would lose everything!
Micah couldn’t deny he was being persuaded.
Temptation filled him.
“I can swear.” Julius Reed raised his hand and softly said: “If I, Elaenor Wood, break my promise, may I face the most poisonous curse in the world! May my soul rot in hell and reincarnate as a dog.”
“Alright!” Micah, after a moment of deliberation, spoke: “‘Nine Heavens Dagger’ is beneath the chassis of my personal car. Among the mechanisms is a gear, and that gear is the Nine Heavens Dagger.”
“Fine. If you’re not lying, by dawn, you will once again lead the Micah Will family.”
Julius Reed signaled for the Young Family Martial Artists to search for Micah’s car.
It’s natural for a personal vehicle to follow one everywhere, a mobile possession.
Indeed, the old fox was quite cunning.
Half an hour later, several Young Family Martial Artists brought back a gear about half a meter in diameter and two millimeters thick, presenting it before Julius Reed.
“Is this it?” Julius Reed held the gear in his hand.
Heavy.
Solid.
He applied slight force, but the gear showed no sign of bending.
Thin, yet incomparably sturdy.
“Logically, this is it. Over centuries, no one remembers exactly what the Nine Heavens Dagger looks like.” Gabriel Young added uncertainly.
“But Andrew once said that Pendleton, the Alliance Hierarch, met his demise due to the Nine Heavens Dagger. Still, this gear doesn’t appear to match that description.” Julius Reed carefully examined it. If it were truly a treasure, it wouldn’t seem so ordinary.
“According to ancestral records, the Nine Heavens Dagger is indeed a gear.” Gabriel Young pondered and nodded: “It can’t be wrong.”
“If so, let the old Micah take care of his own matters.” Julius Reed pulled out a weapon box from his waist and handed it to one of the Young Family Martial Artists: “Give this to Micah.”
“Are you sure you’re really letting him return?” Gabriel Young asked in surprise: “Letting a tiger return to the mountain comes with endless consequences! You might believe a crippled man poses no threat, but he could very well be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.”
“Who told you I’d let him go?” Julius Reed raised his brow: “That was Elaenor Wood’s idea, not mine.”
Inside the warehouse.
Micah clutched the weapon box, aiming it at Jace Will.
“You cheated! You’re dishonest!” Jace Will screamed in terror.
“Father, I’m your own flesh and blood! Even tigers don’t eat their cubs—spare me this once, and I promise to honor you!” Jace Will begged in pain: “Give me a chance…”
“Who ever gave me a chance?” Micah sighed, sitting in his wheelchair, staring at his crippled legs.
Then, he raised the weapon box!
Whoosh!
The first weapon box.
Jace Will took a shot to the center of his brow.
But it seemed insufficient to vent Micah’s fury; he activated the second weapon box.
The dart, however, shot out from the rear.
Clang.
The weapon box fell to the ground.
Dripping with blood.
