Chapter 1443: Chapter 1443: Hiding Beauty in the Golden House

“Will this really work?”

In the darkness, Gabriel Young, her face full of shock, slowly stepped out.

In the east, a faint streak of light began to bloom on the horizon.

Dawn was near.

Having witnessed Julius Reed defeat the Seven Star Arhat with her own eyes, Gabriel Young felt a mix of relief and fear.

Relief that she had made the wisest possible decision, choosing to draw closer to and rely on this powerful man before her.

Fear that such a formidable figure could easily destroy or annex the Young Family if he so desired.

Gabriel Young had no choice but to trust passively.

If the man before her kept his word and acted openly, then there might be hope for the Young Family to rise again.

But if he turned out to be a deceitful villain, the Young Family could vanish into thin air.

“Why wouldn’t it work?” Julius Reed fiddled with the purple-gold kasaya in his hand, asking casually, “I think it will.”

The purple-gold kasaya was crafted from an exceptionally rare and unique metal.

Julius Reed had seen this metal before. Due to its excellent fire resistance, it was often used by the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance to make curtains.

However, for the West Sea to obtain such material was already quite impressive.

“Are you… truly the King of The North Sea?” Gabriel Young’s mind was still replaying the scene of Julius Reed punching the Seven Star Arhat into retreat.

As a fellow martial artist standing so close, she naturally understood the extraordinary significance of that punch.

What kind of realm could crush a Great Grandmaster-level opponent so effortlessly?

Could it be that this man before her had truly taken that step?

Yet, somehow, it didn’t quite seem so.

True experts who had stepped into that realm were exceedingly rare in this world.

From the moment Julius Reed had slain Shay Bread, Gabriel Young thought she was mentally prepared.

But after witnessing the earlier battle unfold, she was still profoundly shaken.

Connecting the dots to what this man had said earlier, Gabriel Young couldn’t help but start believing that he might really be the King of The North Sea…

“Well, what do you think? Am I?”

Julius Reed draped the kasaya over his shoulders and flicked his fingers, igniting a ghostly flame.

Whoosh!

The corpulent corpse of the Seven Star Arhat instantly caught fire.

In the darkness of the night, there was a faint glow from the rising dawn and the light of the burning corpse.

Gabriel Young stared at the Seven Star Arhat’s body on the ground, as though in an out-of-body experience.

Just ten minutes ago, this formidable expert had been alive and well. Now, he was reduced to ashes.

The flames danced in her pupils as she shook her head and said, “I don’t know. That’s why I’m asking you—I want to know the answer. Aren’t you a Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance Inspector? The Alliance and The North Sea are mortal enemies. Are you lying to me…?”

“No, truly not.” Julius Reed raised an eyebrow and looked at Gabriel Young. “The leader of the Young Family shouldn’t act so naive.”

“Then tell me, are you the King of The North Sea or not?” Gabriel Young fixed her gaze on the black veil, her eyes shimmering like autumn waves.

“Of course not,” Julius Reed replied with a laugh, spreading his hands. “A dethroned ruler has no place being compared to me. As for my title as a Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance Inspector, it’s half true, half false.”

Saying this, he pulled a golden token—an emblem of the Vein Holders—from his pocket. “Take a look. What’s this?”

Gabriel Young took the golden token and gently ran her fingers over it.

Realizing its significance, she looked at the veiled man in disbelief. “The Royal Vein, the Golden Token of Authority?”

The Royal Vein was the most unique entity in Pendleton.

The Golden Token bearer of the Royal Vein could stand on equal footing with the Vein Holders of the other six veins.

“Exactly,” Julius Reed said, reclaiming the golden token and tucking it into his waistband.

This object would come in handy.

Soon, when Micah Will’s representatives came to negotiate, it would prove immensely useful.

He couldn’t help but think of Elwood Thorneycroft. He wondered what her current situation was.

“How is that possible!” Gabriel Young’s eyes widened. “The Royal Vein and the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance are also enemies. How can you be both a Golden Token bearer and an Inspector?”

“It’s not important.” Julius Reed glanced at the charred corpse of the Seven Star Arhat. The flames extinguished, leaving nothing but white ash on the ground.

“I wanted to ask you something—does the Royal Vein have any ties to Mont?”

The appearance of the Mont Horse in The North Sea, coupled with previously gathered evidence, made Julius suspect that Grace River could be linked to the Royal Vein.

And there was a high likelihood that the Royal Vein and Mont were intertwined.

“Yes, they indeed have a connection,” Gabriel Young confirmed, raising an eyebrow. “But you, as a Golden Token bearer of the Royal Vein, should already know this much.”

To the outside world, Pendleton was a mystery.

But to the Seven Veins, Pendleton had no secrets.

“I just handle my official duties and don’t concern myself with these things,” Julius Reed said, his mood becoming somewhat heavy after hearing this answer.

Could it be that Grace River had betrayed him?

“It seems that Mont has been propping up the Royal Vein, enabling it to oppose Pendleton!” Julius Reed clasped his hands behind his back and began walking toward the Young Family residence.

Dawn was near.

The Ghost Market was about to close up for the day.

Joggers would soon start crowding the streets.

“You’re mistaken!” Gabriel Young called out from behind him. “It’s the Royal Vein that created Mont, not the other way around. The first Royal Vein Vein Holder was extraordinarily secretive. Even the Young Family couldn’t uncover much about them. Later, relying on its sheer strength and ability, the Royal Vein established the Vassal State we now call Mont.”

“Is that so?” Julius Reed stopped in his tracks.

He had always believed Mont had been supporting the Royal Vein.

Never could he have imagined that Mont itself had been founded by the Royal Vein.

In other words, the Vein Holders of the Royal Vein outranked Mont’s rulers in status!

Factoring in the information he had gathered earlier, if Cold Nelson wasn’t removed from power, Mont would likely rally to Demarco Mount’s side in a bid to “cleanse the court.”

Could this be the stance of the Royal Vein?

“Grace River… just who are you?” Julius Reed muttered, a slight headache coming on.

“What about the eagle?” Gabriel Young pointed at the unconscious eagle on the ground.

The Iron Sword Taoist had left without taking the eagle.

“Let it fend for itself.” Julius Reed suddenly smiled. “It seems The North Sea and The West Sea are about to clash fiercely. If the East Sea intervenes, who knows how chaotic the situation might get.”

“Are you confident?” Gabriel Young tried hard to follow his train of thought but felt she couldn’t keep up with this veiled man’s logic.

“I’ve already uploaded the video. There’s bound to be some friction between The West Sea and The East Sea. If the Iron Sword Taoist speaks the truth, the blame will surely point toward The North Sea. After all, I claimed to be the King of The North Sea.”

Julius Reed explained patiently.

Since the two of them were now allies, cooperation was required on both ends.

“But what if the King of The North Sea denies it?” Gabriel Young wondered. She thought the King of The North Sea wouldn’t have done such a thing and could simply deny it.

Providing evidence wouldn’t seem to be a difficult task.

“Kings are vain creatures,” Julius Reed said with absolute certainty. “The King of The North Sea personally taking down a West Sea Arhat is a show of national strength. How could he possibly explain otherwise? Denying it would only make him a laughingstock.”

“Oh.” Gabriel Young silently concluded that this veiled man was a cunning and calculating bastard.

She resolved to remain cautious in the future to avoid being taken advantage of.

“While it’s not fully light yet, go and get some rest. By midday, Micah Will’s people will likely visit in person to negotiate with you.”

Before they realized it, they had arrived at the gates of the Young Family residence.

“Do exactly as I said,” Julius Reed instructed before making his way to his room.

But when he pushed the door open, he was surprised to find a woman lying on his bed.
