Chapter 1433: Chapter 1433: Young Family’s Predicament

“I take full responsibility for my actions—you don’t need to lie to spare me from guilt.” Julius Reed did not believe her.

If Gabriel Young’s claims were true, and if the Young Family, as one of Swimming City’s premier clans, had truly done this, the secret would have been unearthed long ago.

Could it have been hidden for decades?

Nonetheless, there are advantages to dealing with a sophisticated woman. They are intuitive.

At the very least, they know how to offer you a dignified way out of an awkward situation.

Hearing Julius Reed’s words, Gabriel Young blinked and seemed irritated: “It’s true! Why would I lie to you?”

Revealing such a secret required tremendous courage on her part.

“I understand. I appreciate your kindness.” Julius Reed walked up to Gabriel Young and solemnly said, “Taking responsibility is impossible, given that you haven’t actually lost anything. But I must admit that I did take advantage of you…”

Then, his eyes glinted with mischief: “How about this—when the Azure Emperor’s Tomb opens, I’ll help you seize the treasure. What do you say?”

“Didn’t you already promise to exchange the Pendleton secret with me this afternoon?” Gabriel Young frowned, displeased. “Are you trying to get off scot-free? Does that mean you won’t help me unless you take advantage of me first?”

“Of course not…” Faced with the feisty woman before him, Julius Reed felt rather awkward. “I will definitely fulfill my promise to you.”

After all, experiencing such events only intensified his curiosity about the secrets hidden within the Azure Emperor’s Tomb.

Demarco Mount was nothing like the prison Gabriel Young described.

Having lived there for many years, Julius Reed was confident his memories were accurate.

The grand palaces atop Demarco Mount, which took thousands of years to construct, were dazzling to behold.

A legendary emperor once visited Demarco Mount and was so profoundly shaken by its splendor that he ordered the construction of Court Alifond upon his return.

But could a mere dynasty, limited by the fleeting lifespan of its monarchs, ever complete such an architectural marvel?

The designs atop Demarco Mount—all of them—had Julius Reed’s personal involvement.

A prison?

Demarco Mount did not require a prison.

All it needed was an efficient crematorium, paired with high-powered wind turbines, to resolve matters thoroughly.

And yet, Gabriel Young’s manner of speaking did not seem deceptive.

Determined, Julius Reed decided to verify the Azure Emperor’s Tomb personally.

“If you don’t believe me, then forget it,” Gabriel Young said, turning away in anger. “Pretend I didn’t say anything!”

“Is it true?”

Julius Reed understood women.

Judging by her demeanor, Gabriel Young did not appear to be lying.

“The Young Family is small in numbers. I am Ambrose’s father’s sister, his closest relative. And Ambrose’s mother was a maid in the Young household. The family orchestrated this arrangement to escape the assassins of old enemies. But even then, Ambrose’s father was murdered by an assassin years ago. His mother chose to follow him in death…”

Recalling those events, a sorrowful glint surfaced in Gabriel Young’s eyes.

“From that moment onward, I resolved to cultivate Ambrose as the heir of the Young Family, preparing him to avenge his father! Meanwhile, I devoted myself to mastering the family’s ancient records and eventually became a Grandmaster.”

“Without my skills, Ambrose would have died countless times over. For years, I pretended to be a loudmouthed harpy, dancing in public squares with Swimming City’s rich housewives while seeking out worthless men. Those unfortunate men—I hacked them into pieces and fed them to my dogs! Useless scum, too young to strive for anything?”

Gabriel Young gazed out the window, her voice icy and chilling: “The powerful families are riddled with vendettas. Take a guess—who do you think killed my brother back then?”

Julius Reed did not answer her question outright. Instead, he countered with his own: “When you first approached me, was it to feed me to your dogs?”

“Correct. At the time, you seemed like excellent dog food in my eyes.” Gabriel Young quickly turned around and realized she had misspoken. “Just joking! The moment I saw you, I knew you were a true dragon among men!”

“You only changed your mind when you saw me cure Merrill Caldwell’s Frost Sickness and then brutally beat your son…or rather, your nephew, didn’t you?” Julius Reed was no fool; he understood Gabriel Young’s intentions.

Indeed.

No matter how handsome a man might be, he could never compare to the strength of an iron fist!

“No wonder the guard dogs in the courtyard looked at me so strangely when I entered.” He returned to the bed, rubbing his chest, which still ached slightly.

Shay Bread’s desperate last blow—a strike of undeniable power.

“Who killed your brother?”

Julius Reed was inclined to believe that Gabriel Young wasn’t lying.

A woman who went to such extremes to obscure her own capabilities, even tarnishing her reputation, must have an ulterior motive.

“The Cook Family Head! Based on my investigation, many others were involved as well.” Gabriel Young made no effort to conceal the seething hatred in her tone: “These people really think the Young Family is easy to bully!”

“If I find the time, I’ll help you take revenge.” Julius Reed stood up from the bed, pacing over to the window with his hands clasped behind him.

The waters of Swimming City ran deep.

“And the woman I brought back with me?” he inquired aloud.

Baylor Davenport—a pawn.

A brilliant move.

The North Sea’s current military power could counter Swimming City outright!

But…

It was still too early to deploy it.

When he made his way to Demarco Mount, he’d also require the help of the tool Everett Davenport.

“She’s being held securely—treated well, given plenty to eat and drink.” Gabriel Young moved behind him, lowering her voice. “Those followers of Micah Will—I captured them all. I suspect you might need them.”

Julius Reed turned around, staring directly at Gabriel Young.

The intensity of his gaze left Gabriel Young flustered, her cheeks reddened as she fumbled and grew visibly uneasy.

Recalling his earlier actions, she stammered nervously, “What is it…?”

“I was just thinking…” Julius Reed chuckled suddenly. “Sophisticated women are unexpectedly thoughtful.”

“Go to hell!”

Gabriel Young swung her fist at him!

“Lead me to see those people.” Julius Reed didn’t even need to dodge; he blocked her punch with a single finger. “Can you trace the origins of Shay Bread’s blade?”

The long blade, ‘Unyielding.’

The weapon once carried by Ian Jorden.

After Ian’s death, ‘Unyielding’ became part of his burial treasures within a grand tomb.

“Shouldn’t be a problem.” Gabriel Young’s eyes dropped as she hesitated. “As for the blade at your waist…”

“The Hell Sword, you’ve recognized it already?”

Julius Reed unfastened the bone sword, tossing it to Gabriel Young. “I’m looking to collect the remaining six swords. Since Micah Will’s men are here at your estate, it’s the perfect chance to interrogate them.”

Years ago!

The Martial Saint Crown Prince returned from the so-called prison, only to overthrow his father.

Similarly, Julius Reed had been overthrown by his subordinates.

Could the two incidents be connected?

The fleeting fragments of memory that surfaced showed Julius Reed a glimpse of the snow-covered mountain and seven maddened faces!

Unlike anything he had seen before.

“When the Crown Prince returned from Demarco Mount back then, did his personality undergo dramatic changes too?” Julius Reed asked as they approached the room where Micah Will’s disciples were being held.

“Rumor has it that it did. The Martial Saint Crown Prince was highly esteemed, carefully cultivated by Emperor Charlotte Grey as his successor. His rebellion shocked the Second Minister and the Four Ministers alike.” Gabriel Young led the way, still stroking the bone sword in her hands.

How had a Sealing Pulse artifact fallen into the hands of the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance’s Supervising Envoy?

“By killing Shay Bread, you’ve likely forced the Cook Family and Adler Haw to lay low for the time being. But your strength has also been exposed ahead of time. Once the tomb opens, they’ll double down on their precautions against you.” Gabriel Young’s tone carried concern.

“The sword—hand it over.” Julius Reed suddenly halted his steps.

Taking back the bone sword from Gabriel Young, he struck fiercely!

Swoosh!

The scabbard shot into the air!

“Ah-hah!”

From the darkness.

A miserable cry suddenly echoed.
