She snatched it from him and put it back in the case. If it was cursed, she did not want to risk them being infected.

Jingzhe shook his head. "I don’t know. I would need to break it apart and take a look inside to know what is going on. Of course I cannot prove a curse as I am not gifted with yin yang eyes but if the problem is scientific, I can figure it out.

Maybe there is a toxic gas in the compass that makes those that hold it for a long time lose their minds. The desert prince did set two of his wives on fire, accusing them of being possessed by demons.

He tried to touch the clock again and she slapped his hand. Then she closed the case and glared at him. He had just talked about toxins and he wanted to touch it again. Was he crazy?

Like the bejeweled dragon egg of our royal family, everyone knows about it but what people don’t know is that there are twelve bejeweled mythical eggs."

I was not a believer until it was confirmed that aliens are real with a real space ship and some out of this world technology. But as we have yet to be contacted or accidentally make contact with any alien race, I still have room for doubts.

He reminded her of her father and it made Mei Mei freeze. When people said that women marry their fathers maybe they were not lying. She was not married to Jingzhe but she could admit to herself that she liked him--and he was familiar with her father in some ways.

"Damn." she whispered.

Jingzhe was lost in his speech that he did not realize that she was lost. "It is a fascinating research subject. If they are alien eggs, how did the bejeweled dragon egg reach earth? Could there be another alien space ship that has yet to be recovered and if yes, does it contain the other eggs? I wrote a paper on this when I was ten."

"Ten!" She exclaimed very loudly.

What was she doing at the age of ten? She could only remember getting into mischief.

Jingzhe nodded. "Sadly, it received a lot of criticism from the scientific community so it was not published." He frowned, recalling that the very paper he wrote with child like joy and innocence had put him on the radar of the Sword island masters.

Mei Mei had many questions but she did not get to ask them because her phone rung and as soon as she answered, her mother told her to put Jingzhe on the phone.

She handed him the phone and he stepped into the bathroom to answer. She had no idea what they were discussing or why he needed privacy.

As she waited for his return she called Mingzhu using her smart phone. Her daughter was already sleeping. Then she called Rose to ask her what Mingzhu, her beloved daughter had been up to.

Rose sent her a video of the girls going through their etiquette lessons with the Empress Mother. Mei Mei laughed and winced when she saw her daughter struggling through it all. It looked like she would have to hire an etiquette teacher soon.

After watching the video, she raised her head. She could hear Jingzhe’s voice coming from the bathroom. So, she laid her head down on the pillow, turned on the television and decided to watch a movie.

As it was beginning, a question crossed her mind. "Mmm, by the way system, why did you make me retrieve me the small pot compass?"
