Chapter 745: Chapter 348: Forging Cards in the Furnace_2

Circumnavigating the large table piled with books and parchment, Leon, with an expression of perplexity from the noble’s son, wrapped an arm around his neck and vigorously ruffled his neatly set hair with his left hand.

“Well, kid, His Majesty Azeryan, you’re quite the secret keeper, aren’t you~”

“What? What? Majesty?”

Azeryan, with an innocent look, patted the hand choking his neck, looking up with eyes full of confusion.

“Still playing dumb? You have a claim to the Seryan throne and never told Lokhak and me, pretending to be poor buddies with us, huh.”

“So that’s what you’re talking about.”

Azeryan paused, then sighed with a helpless smile: “…It wasn’t intentional to hide it from you. It’s just that the Flarrell Family is merely a branch of the Royal Family. My ancestors converted completely to the Holy Sun Church long ago. It’s complicated, and my father’s side has been antagonized by the Royal Family, so the so-called inheritance rights were already revoked.”

Leon shook his head slightly. From another path of fate, though unaware if the political situation in the two destinies of the Seryan Kingdom differs vastly, the highly influential Holy Sun Church could undoubtedly push him onto the throne.

But now that fate is different, choosing to follow him was indeed a missed opportunity for Azeryan to become the King of Seryan.

Releasing his good friend’s neck, he sat down to inquire about the domain’s situation over the past two months since he left.

They talked about collaborating with the Alchemy Guild and the new king’s ascension, which halted the task Lydwen III originally assigned to Avalon Academy.

“Regardless of what new plans His Majesty Eric has, the construction of the Magic Academy must not stop. The bounty I received this trip is enough to support the Academy’s completion. Additionally, Kovis and I will immediately make more detection devices to begin searching for talented apprentices across the entire Baron Domain.”

Leon spoke, then quickly added: “You have a good relationship with Fedor, write him a letter for me saying Lord Eriv once hoped the Magic Academy could train some spellcasters among the Thorns Flower family’s offspring. If he is willing, they can come give it a try, there’s no age or gender limit, everyone is welcome to give it a shot.”

Azeryan nodded and noted it down.

After wrapping up important official matters, they brought up Kovis at the Magic Academy, prompting Leon to get up and look for him without delay.

In the partially completed academy’s lecture hall, he saw Acro teaching Brandon Magic Science. He waited for a pause in the lecture before stepping forward to inquire.

“Is the Moonfall Silver safely back?”

“It’s all been placed into the Mage Tower’s treasury.” Kovis nodded.

“Precisely how much is there?”

Leon, who hastily escorted Ines northward, hadn’t yet seen firsthand how much of those alchemical treasures there actually were.

Kovis couldn’t help but smile: “That Princess, must’ve nearly brought the entire Royal Treasury’s Moonfall Silver for you. There’s enough to craft a dozen Netti Cards.

Currently, we lack neither Moonfall Silver. However, the quantities of Melted Mountain Gold and Eternal Ice are only enough to make four cards.”

Leon was overjoyed to hear this.

Though the latter two are also rare alchemical treasures, acquiring them isn’t as far-fetched as needing to reach the moon.

Now connected with the Alchemy Association, spending heavily should allow collecting what they need.

Moreover, being able to craft four Netti Cards presently is an extraordinary boon.

He somewhat regretted not more thoroughly kissing Ines farewell at West Bay, as the “dowry” she sent was overwhelmingly generous.

If Lydwen III in his grave knew, would he bleed out due to Ines favoring outsiders?

To mention, does he have any “bridal gift” to return to Ines that compares?

Leon pondered that with Crown Prince Eric now crowned king, the Hecha Dynasty hadn’t fallen into a civil war incited by the powerful Golden Lion Queen, and he could no longer help Ines become queen.

Perhaps after she resolves the legal issues of territorial inheritance, he could establish a new kingdom with her in the Sobonitz Domain in the future?

…That seems a bit arduous, as both Eric and Caso would unlikely acknowledge such a matter.

Leon shook his head, regrettably still uncertain if Ines has any talent for learning magic. Otherwise, making some Netti Cards for her seems the most fitting gift for now.

That young lady’s combat ability is feeble, equating to about 0.5 of a spear-wielding old farmer. If she could become a summoner, it would give him peace of mind when not by her side.

The condition for using Netti Cards is simple; one doesn’t even need to learn any magic. As long as one can mobilize Magic Power, that’s the quickest way to enhance her self-protection ability.

With this resolved, when she comes to Avalon next time, he plans to drag her to use the detection device for a test. Leon curbed his thoughts and bid farewell to Kovis, entering the Mage Tower alone.

Passing by the hall, Leon habitually bowed to the empty Mage Throne.

With complex feelings, he reminisced about Lady Aphrodite, who had created miraculous magic and almost overturned the world.

He took the lift, first arriving at the treasury to collect materials.

Spellcasting to open the box sealed by Kovis’ restrictions, seeing it brimming with Moonfall Silver, Leon was moved, wondering what means Ines employed to gather so much. Did she truly empty the Royal Treasury?

With ample materials in hand, he hurried to the upper floor workshop, recalling the usage method recorded in ancient manuscripts, placing materials into the corresponding chambers of the Magic Furnace.

Activating the array underfoot connecting the Netti Cards, the production process began, and the Mage Workshop was instantly flooded with light.

Following the steps to repeatedly forge the alchemical magic of the Netti Cards.

The vast magical power from the earth veins continually flowed into the furnace.

After a series of operations, until the sky gradually dimmed, Leon, restraining the excitement in his heart, left the workshop.

He unfolded in front of himself the four vacant black Crystal Cards like a fan.

Leon spent quite some time suppressing the joy that reached the corners of his mouth.

Including Boiling Heart, Canis, and Callisto, he now had seven Netti Cards.

If Galron could also be repaired, he’d have eight. Having a small stack in hand brought a fulfilling sense of security from the powerful Magic Artifacts.

However, with more cards, he might need a new carrying method in the future.

When there were just two or three, pulling one from a waist pouch for use was convenient, but with more cards, grabbing the wrong one in a panic during battle would be troublesome.

Though the Object Manipulation Technique could bring all the Netti Cards in front to choose from, manipulating each was distracting.

Perhaps, create a booklet-like Magic Guidebook connecting Magic Power? Insert each Netti Card, so merely opening the pages would allow instantaneous activation of different cards visually.

Putting aside the idea temporarily, Leon pocketed the few Netti Cards and left the Mage Tower.

Everything else could wait, but he needed to quickly confirm Count Eriv’s safety.

Leaving the high tower, seeing it late, he decided to seek Lady Adelina tomorrow to inquire about some of Eriv’s past “relics” to attempt a summoning.

The “fake Thorny Blade” he reforged had also accompanied Eriv for years and might serve as the ritual’s cornerstone.
