Chapter 704: Chapter 328 Prince_2

Kovis immediately raised his hand and ordered loudly, putting the entire accompanying entourage on alert.

Leon and Ines exchanged a glance, knowing they must be encountering trouble.

He rose from the carriage, mounted a horse alongside, and swiftly rode up to Kovis’s side:

“What’s happening? Have we run into bandits?”

Kovis shook his head: “There’s over a hundred cavalry cutting off the road, charging towards us rapidly, but the spy said they don’t seem to be bandits. Their armor and battle robes are distinctive, more like the local kingdom’s army.”

He spoke without showing much concern, as this number of troops, unless led by a particularly powerful Felu Knight, could do nothing against a well-prepared Official Position Mage. Moreover, he had so many subordinates with him at the moment.

Kovis was only worried that if a fight broke out, the treasures behind them might not make it back to the ship intact.

“Local army?” Leon frowned, not relaxing his guard in the slightest at this speculation.

Though rare, Orland’s history is not without records of local lords seeing vast wealth and turning their armies into bandits to rob caravans, despite the severe consequences if discovered.

Once exposed, such wicked actions would certainly lead to punishment or even stripping of titles by the monarch, but that depends on being caught… who knows how many have gotten away with it cleanly.

However, the treasures had just been unearthed not even an hour ago; how had they been targeted so quickly?

The deserted wilderness had no surveillance.

Had they been watched ever since they entered the territory?

But it had only been a bit over two days since they disembarked at Fjord Port, and barely half a day into the remote territory of the Trand Family. How could the local lord respond so swiftly?

“Did anyone see any exposed emblem from the group? Perhaps it could just be a misunderstanding.” Leon asked hastily.

At least one thing was certain: armed lords with ill intentions, unless trying to frame others, would not brandish flags and emblems.

If it’s merely a local lord feeling suspicious of their tracks, explaining might help avoid unnecessary conflict.

Kovis’s identity as a special envoy of the Athias Empire was suitable; if they really faced a difficult lord, they could perhaps pay a little for passage rights. After all, he wasn’t penniless now that he had acquired a marriage fund.

Upon hearing this, Kovis immediately inquired of the sentinels in Rodoc language.

After some exchange, he turned back and reported:

“The cavalry is wearing blue robes. Though they have no flag… they did not cover the emblems on their robes, which appear to bear a Sea Eagle.”

… Leon raised his eyebrows.

“—Sea Eagle? … Blue Robe??”

…… Rushing iron hooves thundered along the mountain paths of Weststral, kicking up billowing dust, as one splendidly armoured blue-robed knight after another shook the earth, galloping across mountain roads and forest lands….

Soon, Leon’s vision was filled with the sight of a large troop of cavalry rounding the mountain path and charging swiftly towards them.

He raised his hand, declining an Imperial Cavalry Sword offered by a well-meaning Athias cavalryman, and among the halted and alert troop, he kept his eyes on that local army clad in familiar azure robes ahead.

He turned silently, looking back at the carriage, where Princess Ines was tip-toeing and gazing in astonishment at the oncoming cavalry.

No one would be more familiar with that battle robe than she.

Blue background Sea Eagle, that was the emblem of the “Second Son Knight Order” of West Bay County… the Sea Eagle Knights established by Ines herself.

Turning back to look at the Sea Eagle Knights nearing from afar, Leon couldn’t help but feel puzzled.

Wasn’t Olivia of this world said to have already overthrown Lydwen III and restored the rightful rule as the Queen of Orland?

… Then why… does Ines’s Sea Eagle Knights still exist?

Especially as they brazenly displayed their battle robe emblems, apparently not fearing the Golden Lion Queen who ruled Orland at all…

Or is it that this world’s Sea Eagle Knights are not Ines’s army?

Pondering the various possibilities in confusion, Leon stood alongside Kovis, waiting for this supposedly Sea Eagle Knight army to state their intentions.

If possible, he truly didn’t want to come to blows with comrades who once fought together in Sobonitz.

The mages of Athias protecting him arrayed themselves in a defensive formation, hands on their unsheathed weapons, while the crossbowmen at the rear unfolded their bow arms beneath their cloaks. The mages at Kovis’s side also tightened their grips on their magic wands, ready for combat at any moment.

Fortunately…. when over a hundred riders in blue robes gradually halted their hooves on the road ahead, several higher-ranking Sea Eagle Knights left the formation, coming forward alone to the front of the treasure convoy.

Seeing that their attitude was open to communication, Leon breathed a slight sigh of relief; it was good that they hadn’t immediately come shouting for blood.

Kovis urged his horse forward through the troop formation, lifting his magic wand to ask: “Are you the local lord’s army? May I ask why you are blocking our path?”

From a distance, Leon saw that the leading knight refused to respond straight away but instead scanned the entire convoy urgently, as if searching for something.

The several Sea Eagle Knights beside him also raised their visors, casting searching glances over the whole troop, examining each person anxiously as if hunting someone.

Just as Leon found it odd, he suddenly noticed one of the Sea Eagle Knights, a smaller…. Female Knight, looking very familiar.

With a steady gaze, he realized it was Miss Treya!

Almost at the moment he locked eyes with the personal disciple and Guard Knight from his original world’s wife, she also saw him.
