Chapter 696: 325 Chapter Venerable Body_2
After all, it was sheer luck that the three of us managed to work together to kill the fierce mercenary… Suddenly my spine tingled, Leon frowned and couldn’t help rubbing his forehead.
“And then? Is that all you have to say? Tell me, how do you know about Pilireno? I’m sure everyone who knew about what happened to me back then is dead, most of them killed by my own hands.”
Kovis’s somber voice interrupted Leon’s thoughts.
Leon lowered his hand and glanced up with a helpless smirk: “Don’t be so full of killing intent; we were life-and-death friends in another world. Though I don’t know how you were saved in this world, in different times and spaces, I helped you kill Pilireno and Emmon.”
“Another… world?” Kovis’s voice finally held a trace of doubt.
Leon nodded.
If it were anyone else, no matter how close their relationship was in the original time and space, it would be hard for them to explain the truth of what happened to them in such a strange situation.
But Kovis was different.
As a spellcaster, someone who systematically studies magic knowledge, he naturally has a better capacity to accept concepts that exceed common imagination.
The opening of the Lorelette Magic Guidebook clearly states——imagination is the key to unlocking the door of truth.
“Do you believe that outside the world you were born and grew up in, there are other ‘spaces and times’ similar to this one?”
“You mean, a different plane?” Kovis raised an eyebrow.
“No, not a different plane, nor an exotic realm in the Star Realm…” Leon shook his head and began explaining patiently…
…
The bright moon slowly walked in the night sky, and only when the bright celestial body gradually inclined in the heavens did Leon finish telling his story thus far completely.
After all, it was just matters from another time and space; there was nothing to hide.
The only thing he didn’t mention was that when he came to this world, he wasn’t alone, he had Ines for the safety of the princess, but since it didn’t matter anyway, he didn’t mention having a companion.
…Sometime unknown, Kovis had dispelled his magic technique, holding the magic wand, he leaned against a nearby reef, lost in thought, as Leon slowly shared his story.
After a long time, Kovis looked at Leon and spoke lightly: “I can’t easily believe your absurd words.”
“Nor did I expect you to trust me based on my mere words.”
Leon smiled, spread his hands, and said: “I just hope you understand, even if we can’t be friends in this world, there’s no need to become enemies. Fighting and getting hurt, whether it be you or me, does no good; tonight is entirely a misunderstanding.
Of course, seeing that you’re not under anyone’s enslavement, I’m relieved. Even without a chance to get your help, it doesn’t matter. Tomorrow I will leave the Western Port to find a way home, you won’t see me anymore.”
After saying this, seeing that Kovis no longer bore the hostility he had earlier, Leon stood up decisively and pulled out the Garner before him, turning the magic wand into atmospheric elements.
Shining thunder wrapped around his right arm, it vanished into thin air, Leon shook his arm, ready to turn and leave.
However, having heard such an exotic and strange story, Kovis’s brow couldn’t relax, he couldn’t help raising a hand, saying: “Wait a moment.”
Leon paused his steps, turned back, and said wryly: “Don’t worry, I will never mention Pilireno’s matters to anyone. You are a big figure in the Athias Empire now, right? How could I offend you because of that guy’s sordid business.”
Upon hearing this, Kovis’s face grew hot, and he couldn’t help feeling slightly annoyed: “Don’t mention that! That’s not what I meant!”
The young man sighed, removed his hood, and continued: “Although I still can’t fully trust the encounters you mentioned, I’m quite interested in the Lorelette Magic Science you spoke of and that so-called… what was it, ‘Spiritual Field.’
In addition, you said your world’s Pilireno and Emmon possess a defense magic that can protect their body from harm around the clock?”
As one of the few young elites in the Empire, Kovis keenly sensed the extraordinary value in this, and tentatively asked: “Do you know that magic…?”
Leon halted his steps, his eyes were filled with doubt and surprise.
“You mean ‘Venerable Body’?… You don’t know it? Wait, you don’t know the Venerable Body? Then how were you bestowed the title of ‘Official’?
Isn’t that one of the important indicators of magical achievement judged by Athias? This was something another world’s you told me.”
Kovis looked at him and shook his head slowly.
If the Imperial Mages all knew this entirely faultless body protection magic, how could he have managed to kill Pilireno on the bed back then?
“…At least in this ‘world,’ I have never heard of such an effective defense spell.” Kovis stood up straight with the Falcon Magic Wand, seriously said: “Lord Leon… Perhaps we should have a good exchange of magical knowledge between our two worlds, prove it to me or better yet, if you can teach me the magic called ‘Venerable Body’ as compensation, I wouldn’t mind helping you find a way to return to your original time and space.”
Having finished speaking, Kovis confidently added: “Given my insights from these few years in the Western Continent, just judging by the local spellcasters’ level here, if even I am helpless towards your experiences, you probably would have to cross the sea to seek help, even from the Governors or the Emperor himself, otherwise I fear you won’t find anyone else capable of aiding your way home.”
Leon naturally felt delighted by Kovis’s proactive offer to help.
However, what surprised him even more was that this world did not have the existence of the ‘Venerable Body’ spell…
“You don’t know ‘Spiritual Field’? Do you mean that there are no legends of the Cursed Land or Despair Plain in the Eastern Continent?” Leon asked in disbelief.
“No.” Kovis replied.
“Then you must know about the ancient Lorelette civilization, right?” Leon hurried to confirm.
Kovis nodded: “Of course, Athias was founded on the truth and knowledge excavated from the ancient Lorelette civilization remnants.”
Leon frowned and fell into silence.
If this world bears no trace of a Spiritual Field, does it mean this world is not affected by the Spirit Realm?
Yet, the Lorelette civilization once existed and perished.
And Lady Aphrodite’s library records say that Lorelette fell due to pursuing the power of the Spirit Realm, until eventually the entire civilization, along with the polluted lands, was ripped off the continent by the Ancient Pope and exiled completely into the Spirit Realm.
If there was no ’cause’ from the Spirit Realm, how could there be the current ‘effect’?
Leon realized he really needed to reconcile accounts with the Kovis before him.
If even the Lorelette civilization in this world underwent such significant changes, would Oran’s Royal Palace still hold the ancient space-time magic capable of traversing parallel worlds?
