Knights and Magic Wand -
Chapter 695: 325 Venerable Body
Chapter 695: Chapter 325 Venerable Body
The magic wand in the young man’s hand trembled, responding to the overwhelming pressure pressing down on him.
Catching sight of the atmospheric pressure descending from above, Leon suddenly drew back, leaping away. With a crack, the pathway where he was standing was invisibly bitten off, the wooden boards shattered into tiny splinters.
Before Leon could try to speak again, the atmospheric pressures hammered down like a chain of dominoes, relentlessly pursuing the dodging Leon, causing the wooden pathway clinging to the outer wall to burst apart layer by layer under the magical impact.
With a sideways throw of the Garner, Leon transformed into a flash of lightning, instantly darting to the mudflat beneath the cliff.
As soon as he steadied himself, sensing another wave of air blasting toward him, he swiftly withdrew his magic gun from the ground and pierced forth, releasing a torrent from the azure demon rune at the tip of the gun blade.
——Boom!
The duel of magical powers clashed head-on, spreading outward and shattering the night’s silence completely.
Leon retracted the magic gun, hastily raising his hand to halt, “——Don’t attack! I’m not your enemy! Kovis!”
The sea breeze stirred the hood, shadows cloaked golden eyes flashing. The young man leaped high off the battlements, his black-gold mage robe tugged by the night wind, descending slowly as he approached the ground due to the sudden deceleration.
The magic wand lightly touched the mudflat, and a magic pattern beneath his feet spread into an array, but Kovis did not let down his guard. However, hearing the strange Felu language from the stranger, he replied in Felu mother tongue.
“Do you know me?”
Leon gazed at Kovis clad in the official robe in front of him, unable to suppress a wry smile, “I don’t just know you; I’m probably more familiar than you might imagine.”
His gaze turned to Kovis’s neck, naturally void of any demonic rune marks from the Blood Oath Curse.
He had contemplated all the possibilities regarding Kovis, but never imagined that in this dimension, Acro would actually be a mage of the Athias Empire.
“Since it’s a chat, why not visit through the main gate? I don’t have the habit of hosting night burglars.”
A cold smile surfaced on Kovis’s thin lips, the white Flame Sun gradually rising within the magic pattern formation at his feet.
Never had he imagined that one day he would be at odds with a loyal confidante. Leon was troubled, unsure of how to dispel the other’s hostility, “It’s a misunderstanding, something you would probably find hard to believe. I came tonight to save you.”
“…Save me?” Kovis frowned slightly, feeling it was such a clumsy excuse. As the honorary governor of Villania and the empire’s envoy to Kantadar, what could possibly need saving from now?
Could someone be trying to assassinate him, and this person is an ally’s envoy sent to warn him?
Otherwise, is he the Empire’s Dark Claw in the Western Continent?
“Are you from the Empire? Who do you serve? Salodia? Lavina? Or Kalantha?…” Kovis deliberately mixed ally and political adversary names, probing with his words.
Leon pressed his hand to his chest, ready to activate the Netti Card at any moment, quickly pondering how to escape Kovis’s grasp, while speaking the truth, “I am not from the Eastern Continent, nor do I serve Athias. I initially thought you might be trapped by Pilireno’s Blood Oath Curse in this world, so I came to investigate the situation and see if I could rescue you… Of course, I didn’t expect you utterly don’t need rescue now…”
“What did you say!?” Hearing a name that was nearly forgotten for more than ten years in memory, Kovis’s face immediately went pale.
…Pilireno!?
…..How could it be?…those who knew the past have all died….how could there still be someone….?
Recalling the already forgotten unbearable past, flames of anger surged in the young man’s eyes.
In an instant, he swung his wand, and the magic array beneath Kovis’s feet coiled with several beams of glaring white flames around him, like a coiling dragon.
The young mage’s eyes were ablaze with golden light, bellowing with murderous intent, “Who exactly are you? And how do you know these things!?”
Leon instinctively clenched his magic gun, surprised at Kovis’s fiercely furious reaction.
At this moment, a commotion came from the castle wall at the top of the cliff.
The loud explosion from the earlier magical clash had completely alarmed Felcon Castle.
“…——Lord Kovis!”
Several urgent calls came from above.
Several black-robed Mage Athias crossed the parapet, one after another leaping down from high above.
Hearing the voices of his subordinates and disciples, Kovis’s expression froze.
He quickly raised his hand, waving the magic wand to summon a sky-ward whirlwind.
“No need to come; I alone am enough. Go back and wait for me!”
With a loud command, Kovis forcibly blew away the mages coming to his support with a gale.
After driving the incoming individuals back to the high walls of the castle, Kovis once again looked at the man before him, the fellow knowing his “unbearable past”.
“Now I have one more reason to keep you here; you had better explain quickly. Otherwise, I don’t mind personally digging the truth out of your head,” Kovis said coldly.
Watching Kovis scold his companions as if in shame and rage, Leon froze for a moment before suddenly realizing something, strangely feeling somewhat relieved internally.
Seeing Kovis’s gnashing attitude… like uncovering a dark history, it was clear that even in this world… Pilireno might have also persecuted him.
Although it might be regrettable for the Acro here… it seemed, fortunately, that this gave him a beginning to potentially earn trust from the other side.
“There’s no need for you to forcefully keep me. We don’t have to fight, nor will I run away. Let’s just talk… If it really becomes necessary, I don’t mind you reading my memory, too…”
Leon spoke as he dispelled the demon runes surrounding the Garner, lowered the magic wand, and actively relinquished his defensive stance.
If this world’s Kovis’s nature is still the same as his own, perhaps allowing him to use Spirit Magic “Mind Reading” might actually be more convenient.
Leon glanced around, walked over to a rocky section of the beach, propped the Magic Spear Wing Blade into the ground, and sat down all on his own.
“To be honest, I’m not solely here to ‘save you’. I need your help more now… Of course, had I known earlier that in this ‘dimension’ you are of such status…”
Leon glanced at the golden patterns on the other’s black robe, sighing, “I might have visited in the regular manner and wouldn’t have needed to find you in the dead of night like a thief.”
Kovis squinted slightly, the white flame dragon on his body slightly retracting into the magic technique underfoot, but he still didn’t show a friendly face: “Don’t address me by my name like you’re a friend, stranger; you still haven’t introduced yourself.”
Leon shrugged, “My name is Leon Pendragon…have you heard of it?”
“No, never heard of it.” Kovis replied indifferently, holding the Hawk Wand, his expression aloof.
Leon nodded, unsurprised. On his journey, whether in Orland or Kantadar, nobody had heard of him.
In this world, that son of a hunter probably truly died at the hands of Kantadar Mercenaries ages ago, or maybe because the vessel was gone, so he didn’t traverse from Earth?
Or perhaps, in this world, his alternate had crossed over but didn’t manage to kill the mercenary and escape enslavement?
