Chapter 691: Chapter 323: Seeking Companions Again_2
“Boss, just a double room, please.”
Ines, wearing a veil, handed over two Dier coins first.
Leon looked at the girl in surprise.
Ines turned her head and blinked her bright eyes, “We need to save money. You and I are down to this. When it’s gone, I won’t have clothes to sell. We can’t afford separate rooms, but a double room is at least cheaper than two, right~”
Leon hesitated at her words, “But… you and I, after all…”
Ines chuckled softly.
“What’s the harm? We’re closer when camping outdoors. At least a double room has separate beds~… Don’t worry, this is a ‘parallel world’~… Miss Olivia won’t know~”
After speaking, she eagerly accepted the key from the boss, asked about the room’s location upstairs, and with light steps, turned and climbed the stairs.
Leon scratched the back of his head, contemplating, but he wasn’t conflicted.
During the journey while camping outdoors, the distance they rested for safety was indeed closer than two separate beds. Why fuss over having separate or the same room now? It’s not like they’re sharing a bed.
Moreover, Ines was right. She’s not Princess Orland now, and he’s not Baron Avalon. Other than the horses they used for travel, they’re left with the money the Little Princess pawned for clothes and shoes in Holy Land City.
Turning to follow the girl, he arrived at the double room, dusting off one of the beds and opening the wooden window for ventilation.
“Your Highness, how much do you have left?” Leon asked, turning around.
Ines removed her veil, sat on the bed, and took out a coin pouch, counting the Orland Coins from the big city: “Five gold crowns, five Naler coins, twenty-seven Dier coins.”
Leon calculated, and with the money in his pocket, they now had roughly coins worth about thirteen gold crowns in total.
For ordinary people, it’s certainly not a small amount. For a typical family setting, it’s more than enough to settle down and live well. But for him, searching for a way home, in the long run, without any income, they’ll soon run out.
“How about you try traveling while healing? Your healing magic would surely make many nobles willingly pay money.” Ines suggested casually while twisting her hair braid.
Actually, she’s not at all worried about money. If she really wanted income, the girl had plenty of ways to earn a fortune, both legitimate and ones that perhaps went against morality.
Her words downstairs were merely an excuse; she just wanted him in her sight as much as possible.
“Healing? …Well, it’s indeed an option.” Leon nodded, then suddenly had a spark of inspiration and hesitated as he spoke to Ines, “Wait a moment, I think I know a place that might hide a fortune. If necessary, we could look for it later.”
Speaking this way might seem a bit shameful, but what Leon had in mind was his wife’s dowry.
Uncle Bryan had hidden several chests of treasure in the mountains of Weststral County for Olivia.
If in this world, Uncle Bryan didn’t manage to inform Olivia during his last moments, those treasures might still be quietly lying in some secluded cave.
I imagine that this world’s Olivia has already become Queen Orland, and surely doesn’t lack for wealth.
It might just ease some of his immediate concerns.
“…Is it treasure?”
Ines asked, her eyes sparkling with interest, “Are you sure the treasures are still there in this world?”
Leon couldn’t be sure, so he shrugged, “No guarantees, which is why I say it might be possible. But don’t worry. Even if I have to sell my martial arts skills to be a Ranger Knight, I can ensure you and I live comfortably.”
He said this while leaning against his bed, relaxing his tense nerves, pondering the next steps.
Heading to Oran City’s Royal Palace to investigate the space-time conversion magic was undoubtedly the primary goal.
Leon could only pray that the magic secret ceremony beneath the Holy Sword Courtyard hadn’t faded away like Lady Aphrodite’s fortress had over the years.
But even if that magic remains intact, given his and Ines’s current identities, entering the palace would be as hard as ascending the heavens.
Even without Ines, who has a sensitive identity, he himself was just a civilian, without the qualifications to approach the palace.
What should he do? Should he rely on his martial arts and magic, find a Great Noble to serve the Orland Kingdom, and earn a reputation, hoping to get the chance to meet the Golden Lion Queen?
That’s indeed a reliable path. With his skills, whether in combat or military tactics, Leon was confident he wouldn’t be overlooked. At the very least, he could look for a Lord hosting a knights’ tournament to earn some prize money while building his name.
Thinking this way, directly seeking allegiance with this world’s Olivia to establish achievements under the Golden Lion Queen seems to be the fastest way to get the chance to enter the Royal Palace.
Of course, trying with Lord Eriv wouldn’t be bad either.
Just that, with the experience of the Spiritual Field’s different time flow rate, Leon wasn’t sure if the parallel world and his own time-space had the same time flow.
