Chapter 664: Chapter 309 Riot_2
He didn’t want to scare these snakes hiding in the shadows too early, nor did he want to cause unnecessary sacrifices due to lack of preparation. Either don’t act, but once you do, you must be sure to crush most of the lurking enemies 100%, and before making a move, you must not let the news get out and scare them away.
On this point, Leon believed that Lydwen and the smart little Princess could make the best decision better than himself, who was unfamiliar with the local defense deployment.
Just then, there was a scream, and the fat quartermaster rolled his eyes and fainted.
Lokhak put down the small knife and patted the man’s chubby face, “Just a small cut, not even as painful as a fall, and he’s scared like this.”
“Alright, don’t fiddle around, let’s hand him over to the royal family’s professional interrogator later.” Leon shook his head, even though he thought they wouldn’t get much truly valuable information out of this person.
They didn’t wait long in the camp; about two hours later, Leon heard the clamor of people and horses outside the courtyard.
Upon stepping out, he was greeted by Kovis leading Ines, dressed in everyday clothing, walking in her small boots, with Lady Agatha leading the Sea Eagle Knights and the King’s Guard behind her.
Given the urgency, Ines, looking serious, went straight to the point upon seeing Leon, “My father has ordered all city gates sealed. My brother is leading the imperial guard from outside the city and is surrounding the entire outer city district. Do you have a specific location of the enemy?”
“I don’t know how many enemies mixed into Royal City during the tournament or their exact distribution, but their most likely hiding place is probably the Kantadar people’s courier station.” Leon reported the last location where he lost track of the carriage smuggling magic weapons.
Recalling what he saw searching for Elena in the Western Port, set in the Felcon Castle at Western Port, Leon considered the city’s western courier station, where the “Vellozal Territory” knights were rumored to gather, a prime suspect, with other areas being secondary.
“The Kantadar people, they’ve broken a thousand-year tradition this time…” Ines frowned; the knight’s tournament usually enforced a ceasefire, a rule adhered to even during periods of bloody conflicts between nations, was now, however, blatantly trampled.
She summoned an attendant to immediately go to the Deer Family’s residence with the king’s edict, dispatching Baron Kellan to join the troops. In the inn where King Caso of Kantadar stayed, there was a Peacock Knight, necessitating a powerful Knight of Valor to lead and ensure that if a direct conflict erupted, the opposition could be swiftly suppressed.
After receiving Lydwen’s emergency order, Leon handed over the bribed quartermaster detained upstairs to Ines, then prepared to lead the Avalon brethren to rendezvous with the Royal Palace Guard.
Suddenly, he thought of something and quickly turned back to look at Ines.
“Your Highness, please immediately send someone to your manor to find my Griffin partner. I hope at such a critical moment, Royal City will not mind me breaking the no-fly rule, right?”
“The situation demands it; we won’t dwell on this.” But Ines frowned slightly, “However, none of my people have ridden a Griffin before.”
Leon shook his head, “No need to ride it; Death Claw understands human speech. Just tell it I need help, and it will come to us.”
…
……
Still dark in the early hours before dawn, most of the people inside Oran City were still lost in deep slumber.
Only a few outer city residents, awakened by the dense footsteps outside their windows, opened their windows and were startled by the regal Royal City Guards illuminated by torchlight on the streets.
“Curfew! Close your windows! Stay inside!” an observant guard officer shouted angrily at the peeking residents.
This scene played out in all the crucial neighborhoods of outer Oran City.
However, in the dim foggy corners, a few inconspicuous figures from the eastern division near the Royal City Palace avoided the patrols’ eyes and ears and slipped into a camp.
Not long after… in the still shadowed city west station area, many Kantadar western nobles, recently fallen asleep, heard fierce knocking and chaotic commotion.
A Kantadar Baron, who had lost the Magya Territory in the war a year ago and just lost a tournament a few days back, irritably rose from his female companion’s side, opening the window to issue a bird-chirping-like west slang greeting to those below.
“You ****! Did someone sneak in through the Norstnia backdoor at this hour? What’s with all the racket?”
The Black Knight knocking on the door looked up, shouting indignantly, “My Lord! The despicable Orland people have violated tradition! Their troops are trying to surround the station and kill us! Hurry, get your armor on, and let’s charge out together!!!”
The baron’s face changed abruptly upon hearing this, finding it unimaginable, “How is this possible!? Do the Orland people have no shame? How could they violate the knight’s thousand-year tradition!”
“See for yourself outside, the Orland people plan to strike at night!” The Black Knight’s face flickered with anger under the dim porch light.
The Kantadar baron, observing the sincere appearance of the Vellozal Territory knight below, certainly not appearing drunk, felt an instant chill in his limbs, turning back to shout for attendants and guards to don armor…
…
Kovis carried the Drakemar Royal Flag given by Ines, galloping with dozens of Avalon soldiers along the dim Royal City Avenue.
At the forefront of the group was Leon, who, on the main road to the west of the city, saw that commander of the imperial guard, Marcus, riding a giant four-legged terrestrial dragon beast.
The tall knight on the Karak Dragon Lizard was another famous Great Knight in the current Orland Kingdom besides Baron Kellan, directly loyal to Lydwen, a vassal of the Hecha Royal Family.
Seeing Leon leading dozens of cavalrymen approaching, Marcus raised his long spear, shouting, “No time for pleasantries, Lord Leon, follow me to surround the foreign rebels you discovered!”
Leon led the Avalon Knights to follow on horseback.
The massive Heavy Armor Knights surged into the street, causing the avenue to quake like an earthquake.
Avalon’s team wasn’t the only one that received the orders.
Any Orland Nobles stationed near the Great Arena for the tournament who could be trusted were mobilized overnight as much as possible; Leon could vaguely see under the moonlight no fewer than a dozen banners among this army.
Marching with banners at night was not for show, but to identify oneself; in such chaos, these emblem banners were the credentials that allowed the kingdom’s knights to quickly distinguish friend from foe, especially in such urgent circumstances.
However, just as the army was halfway to surrounding the foreign station courtyard, Leon noticed a Forbidden Guard Knight riding fast, waving a torch as he approached from ahead.
“Something’s wrong! Commander! Somehow the news leaked, the Kantadar station is in riot!”
