Knights and Magic Wand -
Chapter 536 - 536 257 Illaril Knights_3
536: Chapter 257 Illaril Knights_3 536: Chapter 257 Illaril Knights_3 The lowest-ranking sergeant is equipped with composite plate and chain armor that rivals that of an ordinary knight.
In the immense military camp, there are horses for everyone and even extra ones.
Livestock, armaments, and provisions are countless in number.
There is no doubt that this is an exceptionally wealthy and powerful elite force.
If conflict were to break out, this thousand-strong force would have a combat prowess more terrifying than tens of thousands of irregular troops.
No wonder the Deyatuk Family treats them with such solemnity.
Leon had originally thought that this knight order had managed to avoid all major routes within the Garsom Domain and made their way to the border of the King’s Domain purely by luck.
But now it seems that luck has nothing to do with it.
Upon entering the kingdom, no lord would have wanted to risk provoking this force by blocking them, nor dared to court disaster.
Instead, they chose to let them pass freely, leaving this enormous headache to the King’s Domain to deal with.
Lord Irem solemnly and devoutly shook his head: “Please don’t misunderstand, Baron.
We have not come seeking wealth.
The Holy Lake Monastery has never lacked wealth.
The knight order has embarked on this pilgrimage because we were guided by the ‘Holy Decree’ to search for the legendary Holy Land, ‘Avalon.’ It’s very likely that the place we are looking for is within your domain.”
“The Holy Land?
Avalon?”
Leon raised his eyebrows.
If it weren’t for the fact that the knight order was named after Illaril and Lola truly resided in Avalon, he might have thought that there just happened to be another place named “Avalon” on the continent, which these foreign knights had mistakenly identified.
But… the “Holy Decree”?
Could it be that Lola had used some sort of magic to send a message, specifically summoning this group of knights who idolize her?
Yet if something this fortunate had happened, why wouldn’t his little mentor have informed him?
Leon regretted rushing here, without taking the time to ask his mentor.
After all, it’s common knowledge on the Western Continent that in the Felu territories where Church beliefs prevail, knight orders named “Illaril” abound.
There would be dozens, if not over a hundred of them.
Still, it was surprising that this very knight order might actually have some connection to Lola.
“That’s right.
Roughly a year ago, every knight praying in the monastery heard the voice of Illaril, our Lord.”
As Lord Irem spoke, a hint of fervent excitement glimmered in his eyes.
This was a miracle unprecedented in the thousand-plus-year history of the knight order.
The great Savior had finally responded directly to the prayers of the Holy Lake’s faithful.
“Our Lord told us that the knight order will depart from her dwelling place, Avalon, and embark on a holy war.
We are to defend hope with our lives and blades, and counter the evil that threatens this land…”
The more Lord Irem spoke, the more solemn his demeanor became.
His words sounded like a sermon, as if he were about to deliver a sermon to all around.
The rangers from Dinexion shrugged, long accustomed to the eccentric words and actions of these notorious heretical knights.
Leon, however, suddenly felt a chill in his chest and couldn’t help interrupting the speaker.
“Wait, Lord Irem, when exactly did you hear this ‘Holy Decree’?”
Being unexpectedly interrupted in his praise of the Savior left Lord Irem with a faint trace of displeasure.
But considering that the person interrupting him might be the ruler of the Holy Land, he suppressed his mild irritation.
Why do you ask?” Lord Irem raised an eyebrow and, sensing an opportunity, shifted his tone: “Could it be that you, too, heard the voice of our Lord at that time?”
Leon knew that the Holy Solar Calendar and the Orland Calendar had identical structures apart from their year numbering, the latter being a mere copy of the former.
“May I ask what the exact date was?” Although he already felt it absurd, Leon still pursued an answer.
Lord Irem certainly wouldn’t forget the sacred day when the Holy Decree descended.
He nodded and replied:
“Late last year, November 1st.”
A chill ran down Leon’s spine.
November 1st of last year… If Azeryan hadn’t misremembered, that was the day of Rolannar’s fall… At that time, he hadn’t even awakened from the slave cage he would later escape.
Let alone having been invited by Lord Eriv to rename Lady Aphrodite’s hidden city “Avalon,” which only happened this year.
How could these knights possibly have known the name “Avalon,” which he had taken from Earthly legends, ahead of time?
Even if it truly were Lola who had contacted the knights via magic.
Could it be that his little mentor truly possessed a “prophet’s” gift for foreseeing the future, with an accuracy surpassing even Little Brandon?
Did she know ahead of time that he would one day acquire a castle he would call Avalon?
The swirling questions muddled Leon’s mind.
