Knights and Magic Wand -
Chapter 535 - 535 257 Illaril Knights_2
535: Chapter 257: Illaril Knights_2 535: Chapter 257: Illaril Knights_2 This was her first time seeing a dragon with her own eyes.
Although she learned from the Magic Guidebook that it wasn’t a True Dragon, whether it was the four-legged and two-winged “True Dragon,” or the two-legged and two-winged “Flying Fire Dragon,” for her, they were all legendary giant dragons.
Olivia watched as the dragon turned its head on the hill, its vertical pupils seemingly looking back at her.
She felt an inexplicable connection as if she had locked eyes with the dragon beast.
It wasn’t until the camp blocked her view that Olivia reluctantly withdrew her gaze.
Leaving the others to wait, Leon took Glenn Soren alone to meet the Border Marquis inside.
Inside the military tent, the middle-aged man appeared to be in his forties.
Leon couldn’t help but size up the man’s hair—it was brown like Sevis’s.
The Deyatuk Family had indeed not inherited the Royal Family’s golden hair.
Leon wondered whether Olivia’s unacquainted “Second Grandfather” was also that way back then, or if the strong genes came from his spouse.
Looking at the young nobleman, Border Marquis Hedrian nodded expressionlessly and said in a deep voice: “Baron Pandragon of Avalon, I have heard of your legend in passing.
It’s unfortunate that we meet under such circumstances, but you now owe me a reasonable explanation.”
Like father, like son indeed.
Leon sighed inwardly, preparing an impromptu response to the Marquis’s inquiry.
“I presume you’ve already heard about the anomalies in the Sobonitz Domain in Eastern Kantadar.
Avalon Territory did dispatch people to call upon Ranger Knights to confront potential threats.
Lord Glenn Soren can vouch for me on this matter.”
The Marquis shifted his gaze to the famous Water Monster Slayer of Ostania.
The young man, who had won the Knight Tournament Championship in the Royal City during his youth, was someone the Marquis recognized.
With Glenn Soren nodding in affirmation to substantiate the claim, Hedrian turned back to Leon and said, “But that Knights’ Order is not composed of Rangers.”
“Indeed.
I did not foresee that reinforcements coming alongside the Ranger Knights from the Holy Court Kingdom would be so extensive.
Otherwise, when I joined King Lydwen’s campaign, I would have surely brought this matter before His Majesty.” Leon replied.
“You are unaware of the origins of this army?”
“I know that the Rangers might have sought outside help, Your Excellency.
Let me meet with them first to verify the identity of this Knights’ Order myself.”
“…You have only one day.
This matter has already delayed me far too long, and if you cannot confirm their origins, I will order their expulsion in a day.” The Marquis issued his ultimatum.
“I appreciate your understanding.”
Leon stood up, placed his hand over his heart in gratitude…
…Leaving the Deyatuk army’s camp, Leon quickly led the Rangers to the military encampment outside the King’s Domain border directly across.
As they approached, Leon squinted at the banners mounted at the entrance of the Knights’ Order’s camp.
The emblem resembled the Holy Sun Wheel of the Holy Sun Sect, yet it was not identical.
The flames beneath the sunring converged upwards instead of spreading outward in all directions like the Church’s version.
Gazing at the altered white flame symbol, Leon froze for a moment… Wasn’t this the very emblem that appeared in Lady Aphrodite’s castle and on the golden Netti Card backing where Lola once stayed?
Could it be that this wasn’t just a borrowed title in Lola’s name but an actual connection to her in life?
Curious and puzzled, Leon presented his identity to the foreign knights guarding the camp’s gate.
Upon hearing the name Avalon Baron, the Holy Lake Knight scrutinized the visitor and suddenly grew spirited.
Whether it was a coincidental namesake or not, this was the closest they had come to their goal in the year-long pilgrimage since leaving Holy Lake.
Permission was quickly granted, and the knights opened the camp gate and let them in.
Inside the camp, several knights briskly approached.
“…Haha, Larian!
You’ve finally arrived.
Otherwise, we wouldn’t even know where to begin to find you.”
Seeing the familiar figure, Larian smiled brightly, rushing forward to warmly embrace several old companions with whom he’d faced life-and-death struggles.
Leon and his group followed into the camp and, with Larian briefly making introductions, began meeting each other.
While expressing gratitude for the Heroic Knights’ long journey to unite under their call, Larian wasted no time in asking about the origins of this army.
Hearing his inquiry, the Dinexion Rangers looked puzzled.
Truth be told, they couldn’t refuse the Holy Lake Knights when they insisted on traveling together to Avalon Castle.
“My Lord Baron, this Knights’ Order is not part of our invited reinforcements; we just happened to encounter them while passing through Seryan.
They also aren’t… or at least probably don’t count as Church troops.”
The Ranger leader struggled to explain, turning to look at the one leading a group of Holy Lake Knights and priests approaching them.
He stepped aside and introduced: “For specifics, you should speak directly with the Grand Master.”
…
In the open space within the camp, the sergeants arranged a circle of chairs for the knights.
Once everyone was seated, the burly middle-aged knight wearing a Flame Sun Wheel embroidered battle robe spoke first:
“My name is Irem Lulerius, current Grand Master of the Illaril Knights’ Order.
Greetings, Your Excellency.
Are you the Lord of Avalon?”
“Indeed.” Leon nodded, straightforwardly asking the remarkably imposing Grand Master: “Why did you lead your Knights’ Order to accompany the Ranger Knights I had summoned to Avalon?
Forgive my candor, but Avalon likely cannot afford the commission required for such a powerful Knights’ Order like yours.”
He’d been observing this army’s caliber ever since stepping into the camp.
What he saw greatly surprised Leon—there wasn’t a single soldier in this army who wasn’t armored in plate.
