156: Chapter 93 Pay Attention to Your Health_2 156: Chapter 93 Pay Attention to Your Health_2 On the southwest side of the Grey Wolf Family territory…
Balfe, as instructed, roughly envisioned the location of the destination and fell into deep thought.
Before long, everyone arrived at the small settlement Leon had initially encountered.
But after merely casting a distant glance to confirm the direction, it was hardly appropriate for their fully armed group to approach the Gunnar Family’s village and possibly cause a misunderstanding, so they directly followed Leon’s lead and plunged into the forest.
As the trees grew denser and the path became more difficult, Leon and the others had no choice but to dismount and proceed on foot.
The deeper they went, the more the group felt they had entered the realm of the Nightmare Forest.
Even the battle-hardened Knight Balfe couldn’t help feeling worried inside.
The other ten Guards Cavalry could hardly conceal their solemn expressions, gripping their weapons and bracing for the danger that could arise at any moment.
It wasn’t that these warriors, who had crawled out from piles of corpses, were faint-hearted.
In fact, by braving the Nightmare Forest’s fearsome reputation that haunted tales for a thousand years and stepping into this land of no return, these selected elite cavalry had already proved their bravery and loyalty.
The so-called dispersion of the Cursed Land was after all but one side of Leon’s account.
If not for the tales of exploits from those three newly anointed little knights, and presently with Leon and Kovis leading by example at the forefront,
This operation, even in the view of these loyal Guards, was perhaps akin to being commanded to commit suicide.
Of course, Leon, who knew the full story, had no worries whatsoever.
As long as they didn’t encounter another Corpse Demon Knight or an Ancient Flame Sun Guard, the only real danger in the forest now were those Living Corpses transformed from jackals, tigers, and leopards…
A dozen people leading a dozen warhorses through the dense woods was much slower than when Leon and Kovis had traveled alone.
And as they slowly entered deeper into the forest, Olivia, who had always been full of anticipation and curiosity, seemed to have realized something.
Suddenly, the girl drew her long sword, and following the faint sound she heard, her emerald eyes gazed toward the right side of the group.
“Leon!
There’s a lot of movement coming from that direction.”
Leon naturally trusted Olivia wouldn’t make a baseless assertion and immediately stopped in his tracks, setting up his Spear in ready position.
“Lord Balfe, be careful, what’s coming could be the Undead Monsters I mentioned,” he warned the Farolis Family knights.
The team immediately quieted down, the well-trained Baron’s Guards, without needing a reminder, released their mounts and set up a crescent Array on the right side of the group with their gleaming Riding Spears.
Balfe gripped his long Battle Axe with both hands, moving to one side of the formation, his gaze filled with perplexity as he looked in the direction Leon’s spear blade pointed.
He couldn’t hear a thing.
The battle-scarred Scar-faced Knight then turned his head, casting a doubtful look at the girl who first voiced the warning.
Upon closer inspection, Balfe raised his eyebrows in surprise.
He had thought that Leon bringing that beautiful girl along was merely a personal whim and some understandable needs.
Since she had shown fine horsemanship all the way and her Armor hadn’t slowed the group, Balfe hadn’t bothered to pry.
It wasn’t unusual for a knight to have one or two beautiful male or female Attendants by their side.
But now, seeing that girl named Olivia holding her sword in a stance steady as a rock, with natural and proper posture, it didn’t seem like just a flashy display without substance.
After the team formed up, they waited more than a minute before they heard the rustling sound of movement in the bushes and shrubbery.
Interlocking footsteps were growing clearer when suddenly, a Corpse Wolf lunged out of the woods with its mouth full of crisscrossed sharp teeth.
Balfe was unfazed at the sight of these so-called Undead, with their hairless and withered skin.
They might frighten an ordinary civilian with their odd looks, but for a Knight of Valor, their threat was no more than that of an ant.
Raising his Battle Axe, Balfe awaited the grotesque creature to come forth and meet its death.
But before the Corpse Wolf could draw near, he saw the girl to the side step forward, her petite body like a gust of wind, darting out ahead of the group.
The trail of the sword blade seemed like a silver wheel flashing by.
So fast!
Balfe was taken aback.
With his reflexes, he could barely catch a glimpse of the hazy afterimage left by the long sword’s slash.
As the sword blade passed over the body of the Corpse Wolf, the decapitated Living Corpse in mid-air was silently bisected.
With her robe armor fluttering, the golden-haired girl holding her crossed swords had just steadied her step when several more sprinting wolf shadows leaped out in front of her.
The Wolf Pack, now transformed into Corpse Ghosts, had no fear of life or death, craving only to gorge on the fresh flesh of the living.
But what greeted them was Olivia’s lightning-fast steel sword.
Her golden ponytail swayed with the dizzying steps as her Armor clanged in tune with her sword dance, sending reflections of cold light slicing through the bodies of the Corpse Wolves.
Piercing skulls, chopping off heads, splitting wolves along their gaping maws…
The girl remembered Leon’s teaching about the weak points of these creatures, and every strike was a swift and decisive blow to the Living Corpses’ brains.
The Guards Cavalry, who had already caught on, were astonished by the golden-haired girl’s martial prowess, but they were obviously not inclined to stand idly behind her.
Leading the Baron’s Guards, Balfe immediately charged in, joining forces with the fiercely fighting Olivia to confront the attacking Wolf Pack.
Leon, too, wielded his Spear, teaming with Kovis to dive into the fray.
In just a moment, this group of Undead that only followed their soul-devouring instincts was slaughtered to the last by them.
And of course, no one was injured in the process.
