Chapter 128 - 128 82 Returning to the Dangerous Land_3

128: Chapter 82: Returning to the Dangerous Land_3 128: Chapter 82: Returning to the Dangerous Land_3 This was just a nicer way of putting it.

In reality, having fallen into slavery under the Atiyas people for so long, the boy’s already frail faith had long since shattered.

The great Holy Sun in the sky had neither saved his family, nor did it save him.

In the end, the last one who had risked his life to save him…

Kovis looked at Leon and sighed.

“It’s troublesome, but it might not necessarily have to be divine, try thinking more about some positive beliefs, it might help.

Let me tell you a secret, I don’t believe in the Holy Sun either, why don’t you try my ‘Twenty-Four Character True Word’?

I’ll repeat it once, and you try to memorize it…” Leon jokingly peddled his secret treasure to the boy.

Anyway, he felt it was quite effective, at least so far Leon didn’t feel targeted by any demons.

“Hmm, I’ll try my best.” Kovis also nodded, having no choice but to treat a dead horse as if it were alive.

Once Leon had finished handling the last of the Demon Runes, he had Kovis protect the horses while he entered the center of the Array, raised his hand to draw the Dharma Seal, and called on Miss Lora to activate the magic technique under her feet.

Compared to the last time when creating the Pseudo Soul was dazzling, this time, summoning the Earth Vein Spiritual Power emitted a much simpler flow of light.

A white, magical brilliance filled the entire Array along the grooves of the Demon Rune and then dimmed.

Leon drew his long sword, waiting for his first batch of prey.

Since there were no demon-possessed companions needing rescue this time, he didn’t have to struggle against too powerful undead.

Even if he encountered Living Corpses he couldn’t defeat, as long as he led them into the Array and let Miss Lora extract their souls, that would suffice.

Drawing his sword was merely a precaution to handle any misguided Living Corpse beasts since non-human souls were too uncertain and not like intelligent creatures that retained clear desires and obsessions even after death.

Soon, Leon heard a rustling sound in the quiet, dim forest around him.

Both men inside and outside the Array turned their heads to look.

It was just a stag, its skin peeling off, body emaciated, and eyes glowing red.

Without letting Kovis use the remaining bit of his Magic Power to help, Leon faced the antlered Living Corpse beast, assumed his stance, and in the instant it charged, he vertically decapitated it.

The large stag’s head rolled aside, its body, propelled too fiercely, slid far away, still thrashing its limbs.

Leon wiped his sword blade and patiently continued to wait for the next target.

Before long, the bodies of gray wolves, foxes, and monkeys lay all over the place.

Even Living Corpse birds of prey flew in a few, shot down by Kovis manipulating stones through the air.

Unfortunately, no human undead appeared.

Clearly, actual humans who went mad and stumbled into the Cursed Land were far fewer than wild animals.

Moreover, compared to the impressive magic technique that simulated souls, this simulation of Earth Vein Spiritual Power was much less efficient in attracting wandering souls.

The benefit was at least it was safe enough not to draw too many enemies at once.

As Leon dealt with one beast after another that intruded into the magic technique, as he grew more bored with the wait, he finally heard the long-awaited sound of heavy footsteps.

The crisp metallic clinking of Armor was a noise distinctly belonging to intelligent species.

Leon immediately perked up, thinking that he had finally waited for the prey.

The footsteps gradually got closer.

Both men tensed in preparation.

The tall silhouette in the dark forest grew clearer, a Spear Warrior, clad in gold-edged silver armor and a tattered red robe, stepped out of the bushes.

Just as Leon was about to marvel at the undead’s distinct and magnificent Armor and weapon…

He unexpectedly heard Miss Lora, who was usually indifferent, show a hint of surprise in her tone.

“…Flame Sun Guard.”

Not yet understanding the meaning of the term from Lora’s mouth, what astonished Leon even more was that the red-robed warrior covered in Heavy Armor, unlike the previous Corpse Demon Knight, did not madly charge toward him.

He merely walked a few steps toward the Array, then stopped as if he had rational thought, and remained outside the Array.

Skeptically staring at the impenetrable Ostrich Feather helmet of the Spear Warrior, Leon couldn’t see the body behind it and couldn’t help but wonder…

Could it not be an undead?

Could it be a live human who had just stumbled in?
