Kissing Hellfire: Marry Me, Evil Lord -
Chapter 56: Secret Message
Chapter 56: Secret Message
"Since I can’t satisfy you on that part then do whatever you want," Lauren said furiously before storming out of the room.
She was breathing unevenly while walking down the stairs. If she couldn’t give him a good fuck like how he wanted, then so what?! He could pay himself whores if he wished and she wouldn’t care!
She walked to the garden and sat on the bench under the shed. The sound of the chirping birds and the beautiful flowers in front of her was relaxing but she found it hard to calm down.
Why did she even have her first time with a man like him anyway? If she only knew she would encounter such a mishap, she would have explored men and gained experience.
After a while, her heartbeat returned to its normal pace and she was about to get up and go back inside when she noticed someone walking toward her.
"Today has nice weather, Princess Lauren, but you look a little gloomy. I wonder why is that so," Prince Dominic said while walking with both of his hands behind him. A boyish smile marked with playfulness was plastered on his face.
"You shouldn’t let curiosity get the better of you, Prince Dominic. Curiosity kills the cat," she said in a polite tone.
He chuckled. "You have good humor, dear sister-in-law. Who knew that the random girl who interrupted my good time last month would turn out to be part of my future family."
The way he called her sister-in-law didn’t sound good to Lauren. The family she had was all a façade. For her she had no sisters or parents. She wanted nothing of them. And now with another person involving himself, she found him annoying.
"And who knew the man I witnessed how he fucked a courtesan in a brothel would turn out to be my brother-in-law. The world is small indeed."
Prince Dominic’s eyes narrowed at her before he burst into laughter.
"You know what, Lauren, if only you weren’t married I would have asked for your hand in marriage instead. It’s a shame I was a little late. We could have been a great husband and wife to each other."
"We just met twice and we are not fully acquainted with each other yet, so I would appreciate it if you don’t drop the formalities, Prince Dominic. Don’t address me by my first name as though we have known each other for long."
"And about the marriage, I don’t think we would be a great pair as you think. I know you are here for the throne, and to be frank, I want to be the Queen. You lose your land’s throne to your brother, how sure are you can seize my kingdom’s throne?"
Prince Dominic smiled. Women who were frank and had no fear in showing what their true desires were rare. Most women wore masks and talked like angels but the one in front of her was different. She was smart and had the guts. Earlier when he saw her arrive with the lord, she looked like a submissive wife with her dominant husband but how wrong he was. A woman this sharp wouldn’t let a man rule her.
"That is something we can’t be sure of, I believe. But Princess Lauren, how shall we know if we won’t try?"
Lauren offered him a gentle smile but there was a subtle warning in her eyes.
"Of course, you may try if that will please you. For now, I shall take my leave, Prince Dominic. See you around," she said and her smile fell off her lips the moment she turned away.
Walking back inside, Lauren caught a glimpse of Eloise’s maidservant who looked rather disturbed. She carried a small lavender paper in her hands that she was trying to hide and it looked suspicious.
"Sally," Lauren went to the kitchen where her maidservant was helping the kitchen maids.
"What is it, Your Highness?"
"Come here," Lauren pulled Sally away from the other maids and whispered something in her ear.
Getting what the princess wanted her to do, Sally nodded.
Lauren stayed in the library while she waited for Sally to finish the task she gave her. She didn’t see Alec anywhere on her way to the library so she thought he must have stayed in the chamber after she left, or he could be with the King and talking about the matters of the court.
About twenty minutes had passed when the library’s door opened.
"Your Highness," Sally rushed to Lauren’s side and gave her the small piece of lavender stationery. "This is what I found in Princess Eloise’s garbage container. This was torn in pieces but I managed to assemble it back to its original form with the little spell you thought me before."
Sally laid the paper on the table. The lines where it was torn were still visible but it was enough for the words written on the paper to be readable. Sally was only a lowly mage and had little to no skills in performing spells so it was the least she could do.
"Thank you, Sally. You did great," Lauren praised which brought a smile to her maidservant’s face.
Lauren read the few words written on the piece of paper and it didn’t take her a second to know what it was all about.
Bellmurk Chapel, midnight.
- S.D.
The initials surely meant Sean Devitt, thought Lauren. Who else would send Eloise a secret message if not her lover?
A wicked thought crossed her mind. Eloise had put her in countless embarrassing moments. That sister of hers gave her quite a show during her engagement soiree almost three weeks ago. It was only right for her to return the favor.
Getting paper and ink, Lauren scribbled some words on it before giving it to Sally. She made sure the words written wouldn’t be understood by anyone but only by the person whom she wrote the message for.
"Send this to Darius."
