Kissing Hellfire: Marry Me, Evil Lord
Chapter 189: Show No Mercy (2)

Chapter 189: Show No Mercy (2)

"If I am allowed to ask, why did you set up Jasper, milord?" The lanky vampire asked his master.

Simon perched on the concrete balustrade of his remote mansion, busy plucking the petals of the flower in his hands one by one. When he heard his servant’s question, he smiled, but it was the kind of smile that didn’t reach his eyes.

"Why do you think I did it, Orion?"

"Because he wasn’t supposed to give himself away when he corrupted the humans during the tea party at Haystone’s?" Orion didn’t sound sure. He had worked for Simon for more than a decade, yet he could still not be very certain of his assumptions when it came to Simon’s reasons for doing things. His master had a strange mind so he believed he should expect the unexpected from him.

"That is one thing. He’s too impulsive. Because of him he and Jennifer got exposed and it wasn’t the right time yet. But it wasn’t the main reason why I sent him to his doom. He had other plans, plans that wouldn’t benefit the party. The queen dowager happened to be his only family and he wanted to save her. It wouldn’t do us good if he tried anything silly, so I set him up. The mistress doesn’t like him anyway."

Simon was on the last two petals of the flower when he stopped. He sensed someone else’s presence in the mansion.

"She’s here," he muttered with a smirk plastered on his face.

Orion opened the doors of the balcony for the woman who just arrived. Under her red cape, she was clad in expensive clothes and jewelry. Simon got off the concrete balustrade to greet the woman with a kiss on the back of her gloved hand.

"Your appearance must mean something, milady," he smiled. "Am I right to assume that you have finally finished the final production of our weapon?"

The woman smiled beneath her mask. "It is about time."

Meanwhile, back in Evardin’s castle, the raging situation in the dungeon continued.

"This should be between you and me, Lauren! Why are you dragging someone else into this mess? Why don’t you just kill me!"

Lauren stepped forward, unsmiling. "If all I wanted was to kill you, I would have sent you to hell right away after your daughters died. You see, that’s not what I want, Thalia. That punishment is too easy for you. Why don’t we have a little game first?"

Stopping by Thalia’s side, she turned to Jasper to make sure he was watching. This was called hitting two birds with one stone. She’d torture Thalia to force Jasper to speak, and she’d torture Jasper to get even with everything that she had done to her in the past. She still hadn’t forgotten how a poor maid was tortured to death in front of her just because she helped an innocent child sneakily. Her vengeance reached the point where there was no turning back.

"Let’s see if it’s true that you have little to no regard for your dear sister. I dare you to watch what I will do to her, Mr. Owens."

Lauren gripped her hairpin tightly and she went down on her heels. She grabbed the neckline of Thalia’s nightgown and pulled it down harshly, tearing it in the process, and Thalia could only cry in anger and humiliation because she could do nothing against the ironclad grip of the guards holding her.

Lauren tore the neckline enough for Thalia’s upper chest to be exposed. Alec remained on the sidelines, watching with enthusiasm in his eyes. He, too, had been dying to give Thalia what she deserved. He didn’t like how the woman put Lauren in danger so many times. He wanted to torture her himself but he knew he had to give the stage to Lauren. It was her game, after all. She started it so it was only right for her to end it. Besides, he wasn’t missing any fun.

"Remember how you carved a scar on my mother’s chest with your hairpin?" Lauren whispered in Thalia’s ear. "An eye for an eye. That is how you taught your children, though for sure that term doesn’t include me, I have put that in my mind ever since I heard that from you when I was eight. Shouldn’t you be proud that your stepdaughter learned many things from you?"

Thalia glared at her. Without a warning, she grazed the edge of her hairpin onto her chest and slowly moved it downward, making Thalia flinch and whimper in pain.

"Does it hurt?" she asked without remorse. "This is what my mother felt when you did it to her. Now you are having a taste of your own medicine. Life is unfair, but I’m here to make it even."

"Ahh!" Thalia whimpered more as Lauren continued to plunge the hairpin deeper into her flesh, moving it down to the valley of her breasts. She paused to glance at Jasper and when she saw how rigid his face was, she smiled. She was just starting but he could barely take what he was witnessing. She knew it was only a matter of time before he gave in.

Thalia shuddered at the pain. She wasn’t someone who had experienced torture before that’s why she didn’t have high pain tolerance. And the fact that she was under Lauren’s mercy made it all worse. She wasn’t just in so much pain, she was mortified, and she wished she could just die right there instead of facing such humiliation. She was born to be a queen! How could she have such a tragic end?

"The scar you gave my mother was about... three inches?" Lauren raised her brow as if she couldn’t tell the exact size.

"But since it took me more than a decade to get even, should I make yours twice the size of what you gave my mother?" She stopped dragging the hairpin down and had a thoughtful look as if she was trying to reconsider it. "Ah, why don’t we make it thrice?"
