Kissing Hellfire: Marry Me, Evil Lord
Chapter 188: Show No Mercy

Chapter 188: Show No Mercy

"Do you think you can use her to make me speak? Go ahead. Do whatever you want to her. I don’t care," Jasper said, his face hard and holding no glimpse of emotion but Lauren wasn’t buying it.

The last time they met she saw how irked he was when she mentioned Thalia. She even believed he wasn’t supposed to give her a hint that he was the one behind the chaos at Haystone’s mansion, but because of his annoyance, he gave himself away. That’s why she knew this whole act was only a ruse.

"Are you sure? No matter if I skin her alive in front of you?"

She still didn’t get any reaction from Simon. She smirked and gave Alec a meaningful look. Alec then turned his head toward the steel bar door where a guard was standing and said, "Bring the Queen Dowager here."

Lauren looked at Jasper and saw how his eyebrows furrowed in the slightest bit, letting her know she was right. He was only trying to act like he didn’t care so they would leave Thalia alone. What a pity.

"You must have been beaten up real bad," she said, there was no sympathy in her voice, only mockery. "Your party includes Simon Lancelot, right? He’s also hiding now. Why don’t you just cooperate with us so you’ll get a lesser sentence?"

Jasper’s expression turned darker at the mention of the man’s name and the couple didn’t miss it. "That freaking bastard," he muttered with disgust and ire as if he were talking about some enemy and not an ally.

Alec immediately understood the look of betrayal in Jasper’s eyes. His eyebrow twitched as if he had figured out something amusing.

"What a poor little thing you are. I wonder if it’s him who set you up so you’d get caught by my men," Alec voiced his assumption and by the way Jasper’s body turned rigid, he knew he hit it right so he continued, "The people tasked to search for you got an information from an anonymous missive that you would be found two villages down north district. Perhaps it was your friend. Doesn’t that sound like a sweet betrayal?"

After what Alec said, Lauren was enlightened about why it didn’t feel right. Jasper managed to escape after what happened at Haystone’s mansion which meant he had a lot of people behind his back to help him. It didn’t make sense why he was suddenly caught in a small village with only a few people with him. So he was set up by Simon. But the question was, why would Simon do that? Was his reason the same as why he killed Jennifer?

"Were you the one who corrupted the humans in the north district?" she asked Jasper.

He clenched his jaw. "What will I get from answering your questions?"

"From what happened to you, it’s clear as daylight that your party had thrown you out the window like a piece of trash. At this point, you should be thinking about how to get even with them instead of protecting their secrets."

"If I am no longer with them, I don’t think it concerns you. I am not saying anything," Jasper insisted.

The steel bar door opened and two guards holding Thalia entered. Thalia was still wearing her dirty nightgown and her hair was all over her face. Her brows were pulled together as she struggled against the guards’ firm hold and only stopped when she saw who was the prisoner inside the cell. Her eyes flew wide open and her lips parted in horror.

Lauren stepped aside so Thalia could clearly see Jasper’s situation, Alec was standing by her side closely.

"What a reunion," she muttered under her breath, entertained by Thalia’s reaction. It was what she had been waiting for—the perfect ending for her revenge.

Maybe the deities had cursed her for being so vile and vengeful, but no matter if she died from her illness a few months later or got struck by lightning tomorrow, she wouldn’t regret what she did to the royal family. This grudge she felt had spun for more than a decade and she knew her burnt soul would never heal until she got what she desired. She wanted to put an end to these years of vengeance. She had stretched it far enough, and it was time to close this Chapter of her life. She was willing to let go of it now.

"Get her on her knees," she ordered and the two royal guards pushed Thalia forcefully to the ground.

Thalia’s face turned red in anger as if she’d explode any minute. She yelled at Lauren, "You despicable bitch!"

"Are you describing yourself, mother?"

The way Lauren called her ’mother’ made Thalia ten times angrier than she already was. She always hated every time Lauren addressed her like that in the past because she knew she had never respected her as a parent.

"Should I rip her tongue?" Alec whispered to Lauren, his voice sweet and coaxing.

"No, I’d love to hear her cry when I kill her precious family right before her eyes," she whispered back, smiling, and Alec couldn’t help but pat her head proudly.

"That’s right, love. That’s how you treat people who dare hurt you. Show no mercy."

"I won’t," she promised.

"How do you want her tortured? Just tell me and I will do it for you. You don’t need to lift a finger. Let me do the dirty work." He smirked deviously.

Lauren pulled the long hairpin from her hair, the one that she often wore. It was carved from an expensive stone and had an edge as sharp as a lethal dagger. She would never forget how her mother got a huge scar on her chest because of what Thalia did. She could never forget how her mother tried to stifle her cries so she’d stop crying, so that she’d think she was okay. Only that she knew things had never been okay in the castle since time immemorial.

"No, I’ll do it. I can never be satisfied with my revenge unless I finish it with my own hands."
