Kissing Hellfire: Marry Me, Evil Lord
Chapter 146: The King is Provoked

Chapter 146: The King is Provoked

"I offer you my condolences, Minister Haystone, but I must say this little stunt you pulled is such a disappointment. You may be in grief right now but that doesn’t justify your actions. How bold of you to accuse your queen. If you wish to have your daughter back so much, I won’t mind lending a hand so you two could meet," Alec said the latter part in a darker tone, and everyone in the hall knew what he meant.

"My daughter died on her way to the castle after receiving your invitation, King Alec! It is too much of a coincidence!" Minister Haystone insisted and looked at Lauren with overflowing fury in his eyes. His orbs were dark red now, and he was clenching his teeth hard as if he would have shredded Lauren into pieces if Alec did not happen to be there.

"You have disrespected us enough, Minister Haystone," Alec snapped. "First, you barged into the castle with your family guards. Second, you did not properly request a meeting with the queen, you demanded. Third, you are attacking her with baseless accusations. I shall no longer tolerate this. If you continue to blabber shit, I can’t promise you can leave the castle breathing."

"Are you threatening your subject, Your Majesty? We both know that a court official shall only be beheaded if his crime concerns the matters of the royal court—"

The next moment a pistol was on Alec’s hand and he was aiming Minister Haystone’s forehead. His index finger was on the trigger without the slightest hint of hesitation on his face. The man’s head could explode in front of him and he wouldn’t care.

"Disrespecting my wife is disrespecting me, and disrespecting me is disrespecting the royal court, Haystone. I wonder where you put that damn brain of yours. Should I feed it to wolves since it appears to be useless?"

Knowing Alec’s vicious nature, Minister Haystone felt a shiver of fear despite being a pureblooded vampire. He knew Alec wasn’t the kind who throws empty threats and would not hesitate to do as he pleased.

It was only then Minister Haystone realized what he had done at the peak of his fury. He was most of the time rational and calculative but due to his painful loss, he forgot that what he had been doing all this time would do nothing good. Instead, he was digging his own grave.

"Unless you wish to be beheaded today, step out of the castle and don’t ever show your face to me again," Alec said but he wasn’t looking at the minister, he was taking a quick glance at each of the guards around Minister Haystone.

"Bring Minister Haystone to the dungeon," the command made Minister Haystone freeze. His guards slowly stepped back when two royal guards went to him.

The Haystone guards knew that fighting the royal guards was futile even if their employer would tell them to do so. Defying the King’s order meant death and they would be fools to jump to their graves just because of their employer who foolishly challenged the King.

"Your Majesty, this shouldn’t be done this way! I am one of the primary court officials! You cannot imprison me in the dungeon without a trial—"

"The King’s word is the law, my dear minister," Alec cut him off. "A trial is not necessary on this case, and as of this moment you are no longer a court official of this state, but a law offender."

Minister Haystone clenched both his fists in anger. If he was going to stay in that rotten dungeon like a rat, then he would rather die than submit to a King whom he believed to be someone blinded by his wife’s schemes.

"It was you who invited my Jennifer to live in the castle! Because of you, your wicked wife had my daughter killed!"

The flames of anger got the better of Minister Haystone. With the strength he possessed as a pureblooded vampire, he easily escaped the grip of the royal guards holding him. He then grabbed a dagger from his pocket. A red light enveloped the dagger as it turned into a sword.

The moment Minister Haystone lunged towards Alec and Lauren, Alec pushed Lauren a few steps behind. The royal guards went in front of Alec and defended the attack with a repelling barrier, which threw Minister Haystone across the hall when his body hit the barrier.

The force wasn’t enough to damage Minister Haystone’s body and he was quick to get back on his feet. There was no turning back for him now. He would rather die fighting than be tortured by Alec. And if he would die, he wanted to try his best to die with the person who killed his daughter.

Minister Haystone tossed the sword in the air and the sword multiplied into a dozen. The swords were enveloped with a red light similar to a glowing smoke dancing around the blades as they remained in the air in front of Minister Haystone. With one motion of his hand, like an army receiving their commander’s command, the swords flew towards the barrier the royal guards were holding up.

The attack wasn’t enough to instantly break the barrier but it managed to create cracks in it.

"If you wish, I will take care of him, Your Majesty," beside Alec, Matthias offered.

"He attacked the castle and the King. It is enough to kill him on the spot," Lauren said. Killing the minister would not be an issue to the public because he committed treason by threatening the life of the King and Queen.

"No need. I’ll take care of him myself," one corner of Alec’s lips rose as his eyes turned to the darkest shade of red. He then told the royal guards, "Step aside."

"Alec," Lauren called.

"What? Scared that I might get hurt?"

Lauren’s lips twitched. "Please don’t destroy the hall."

"So you’re more concerned about the castle, huh?"

Matthias stifled a smile and eyed the royal guards to step aside.
