Kissing Hellfire: Marry Me, Evil Lord
Chapter 102: I don’t think I can let you go

Chapter 102: I don’t think I can let you go

Matthias coughed and turned away. "Pardon me for interfering. I shall wait for you-"

"No, no. Nothing is happening! I-I just fell!" Lauren quickly moved away from Alec and returned to her seat.

Her cheeks were flaring in embarrassment. She couldn’t imagine what Matthias was thinking when he caught them in that position. There was no problem because after all they were married, but what kind of barbaric people would do it in a carriage anyway?

She glared at the shameless vampire who acted like it wasn’t a big deal.

"What happened, Matthias?" Alec asked.

"One of the wheels broke, Your Highness," replied Matthias who peeked in through the window. When he saw them back to sitting across from each other, he stood by Alec’s side of window. "I need to repair it which might take a few minutes."

"Repair it then."

Matthias nodded and went down to check the wheel and repair it through a spell.

When he was done, he stood to inform his superior that the job was done. But when he peeked inside the carriage, his eyes narrowed when he saw no one.

Matthias smirked maliciously. He was one of the few people who knew Alec’s ability to make a portal and he thought the couple must be too eager to continue what they were doing earlier.

In the castle, Lauren and Alec were teleported into their room.

"Wait." Lauren’s eyes widened in horror. "My cakes. Where are they?"

"It was beside you when we were in the carriage. You didn’t bring it when we went to the portal," Alec said as he took off his coat.

"So annoying," Lauren muttered under her breath. She was distracted earlier that she forgot about it.

Alec walked to the bed and sat on the side. "I didn’t get my drink. Come here."

So it was why he used a portal. Because he was too thirsty... Lauren’s eyes squinted at the thought.

He pushed himself back with his knees spread apart, and tapped the space between him where he wanted her to sit.

"Apart from stored blood, do you take blood from anyone else?" she asked breathily as she felt his thighs against her thick skirt when she sat in between him and with her back almost touching his chest.

He leaned on her ear. "Hmm... are you asking because you don’t want me to drink from other women?"

"That’s not it," she blurted out as quickly as she could. It wasn’t really her point, but why was she suddenly nervous?

"I’m just asking because I’m curious. You said my blood tastes the sweetest. Would you ever get tired of the taste of my blood?"

"Maybe I would. Who knows?" His tone was indifferent as if it wasn’t an interesting subject to talk about.

"Well, I’m just afraid you’d get addicted to my blood that you would find it hard to forget about me once our contract is done," Lauren’s tone was playful because it meant to be a tease.

But in truth, she really wondered if he would still crave her blood once they part ways after this charade.

The thought of him having another woman in his arms brought an unsettling feeling to Lauren... and she wondered why.

Alec put her hair to one side and let his nose run to her neck.

"If I’m still addicted to your blood by that time... I don’t think I can let you go," he said before his fangs sank into her skin.

--

When Lauren woke up the next morning, Alec was no longer in the room. While she was having breakfast alone in the dining hall, she thought about what he said last night.

"If I’m still addicted to your blood by that time... I don’t think I can let you go." The words echoed in her ears making her wonder if he really meant it.

But what if he meant it, Lauren? You should be praying that he would get tired of your blood as soon as possible so he would stop preying on you like a blood bank.

The whole day, she did not see the Queen anywhere in the castle and thought that she must have locked herself in her room because she couldn’t accept that Cassandra was dead and she was about to face her downfall.

Lauren knew that the Queen wouldn’t easily give up. She didn’t have any idea what that old hag was plotting against her this time but she was certain that in the Queen’s mind, she was murdering her in one of her thoughts.

The next day, King Martin just finished his tea on his room’s balcony when he received unexpected news from a servant.

"Your Majesty, the Supreme House has arrived."

"What do you mean the Supreme House?" Martin’s voice raised.

It had been two days since Lauren’s court trial and the Supreme House promised to be back two days later but after Cassandra’s execution, the court trial for Alec had been abolished. He even sent a missive to the Supreme House’s castle to inform them, so he was confused why they came.

When King Martin arrived at the court, everyone was waiting for him. The Supreme House, the ministers, and Alec.

Lauren was also present. Her gaze darted to her father’s bewildered expression and one side of her lips tugged up.

"I have abolished the court trial for my son-in-law. Didn’t you receive the missive, Lady Amber?" asked King Martin, his brows were furrowed. It was evident in the dark circles below his eyes that he hadn’t been sleeping well lately.

"I did," Lady Amber replied calmly. "But this court trial is not for Prince Alec but for you, King Martin."

The King’s eyes widened. "For me? What on earth do you mean by that, Lady Amber?"

King Martin’s tone raised which didn’t sit well on the lady. Amber gave the ignorant king a subtle glare.

"It is a court trial for your dethronement, Your Majesty," Amber replied which shocked not only the King but also the ministers who didn’t receive any prior notice of that day’s event.
