Chapter 993 - 993 980 This is a dog right
Chapter 993: Chapter 980: This is a dog, right? Chapter 993: Chapter 980: This is a dog, right? “Jelos Douglas, Dovalir Security Department, has changed its name to Dovalir Security Bureau, now are you satisfied?”
The silver-haired old principal stared at Muria. The reason the city’s agency for cleaning up different species changed its name this time was because Muria had refused to join because of the name, which was just a pretext. The main reason was that the members themselves also deeply resented the original name.
“Hmm!” Muria, called once again, nodded her head after hearing that not a single word had been changed, just the positions of two words in the secret agency’s name. Wasn’t that much better? The style had been elevated in an instant. What was the person who originally came up with this name thinking?
“But in this case, I accept, as long as I am not subject to too many restrictions.”
“Don’t worry, this department is specifically designed to train young star armor masters like yourselves, so there will be no mandatory tasks. You will just need to complete a certain number of tasks each month, and whether you take on additional tasks is up to you.”
“That’s quite alright then,” Muria raised an eyebrow.
“Since you agree, you should go report to the Security Bureau now!”
“Okay!”
…
“Jelos Douglas, I’ve long admired your reputation. Welcome to our team.” The man sitting behind the desk put on a gentle smile and extended his hand as the handsome and upright youth walked through the door.
“Don’t mention it!” Muria gripped the hand of the young man, who appeared to be in his twenties, and she felt increasingly speechless about the federal government’s decisions. This so-called Security Bureau was nothing more than a training camp for recruits.
“With your addition, our Security Bureau’s suppression ability against the different species in Dovalir will be much stronger.”
“That’s for sure, but before that, I hope you can grant me one privilege.”
“What privilege?”
“Allow some ‘little’ pets I keep to participate in hunting the different species.”
“‘Little’ pets?” The bureau chief emphasized the word ‘little’ heavily and then revealed an odd expression. Did this young master really think he knew nothing about him? Those fierce beasts he kept, almost indistinguishable from native species, were ‘little pets’?
“Yes, my pets have been cooped up in my small yard for too long. They want to stretch their bodies and hone their claws and teeth, so I’d like to ask for your approval for them to move freely within the city.”
“That’s not even a question of whether I approve or not, but rather, that kind of…”
“Are you worried that the beasts under my command will lose control and pose a threat to the residents of Dovalir city? If that’s what concerns you, then there’s no need. The ‘little pets’ under my command know what should and shouldn’t be done; they are more sensible than humans.”
“With that said, it’s even less possible for me to approve. If those monsters of yours have such intelligence, your pets are already fit to be assignments for members of the Security Bureau.”
“You could try!” Muria narrowed her eyes, with an expanse of the vast Star Domain seeming to emerge within them, a profound and distant pressure surfacing but disappearing in a flash, leaving the momentarily stiff bureau chief feeling like he had just hallucinated.
“Just joking, I have no intention of offending the Douglas family,” said the bureau chief, waving his hand and forcing a strained smile on his face.
If Muria didn’t have the standing of a formal member of the Douglas family, he wouldn’t mind leading his lads to slaughter those native species as a notable achievement.
Unfortunately for him, such ideas could not be put to action, because although these beasts now possessed intelligence on par with humans and lived within a human city, they carried the label of the Douglas family.
“It’s the owner one must consider when beating a dog,” the saying applied here as well. Even if Muria’s household raised a group of native species with an extremely high danger level, they were the Douglas family’s native species, and ordinary people were not entitled to touch them.
“You wish to grant your pets the privilege to roam freely within the city, which is impossible. The government will never allow native species to run wild in the city because that would cause a very negative impact.”
“If you’re worried about my pets causing panic among the citizens, then how about granting my pets the privilege to move at night? That should be possible, right?”
“I’ll need to discuss this at a meeting first. However, you’ll first have to let me see the level of obedience your pets have towards you and whether they are truly as you say.”
…Three days later, Muria successfully obtained the privilege. The process was simple: he took his nominal boss to his house and allowed him to have a “fun-filled” interaction with his affectionate pets.
Then he sent off his boss, whose complexion had turned pale from fright, claiming the experience was terrific but that he did not wish to try a second time.
Meanwhile, as his superior was meeting with city government officials to discuss the situation, Muria made a call to the Paris Butler. Then, leveraging the power of the Douglas family, he successfully secured this privilege for himself.
…
“Run, it’s the Night Hunter!”
Under the dim night sky, a group of “humans” with unmistakable terror on their faces were running swiftly through the streets. Upon closer inspection, one could notice that these “humans” had various biological tissues not typically found on human beings.
“It’s the Night Hunter; there’s no escaping. We’re just struggling in vain, adding to the pleasure of its hunt,” a despondent middle-aged man shouted, his pace the slowest of all.
“What bullshit is that. If you don’t want to live, you can stay here and wait for death. You’ll be doing us a favor by buying some time.”
“I heard no one survives the Night Hunter’s hands. Running like this just delays the inevitable,” the dejected middle-aged man continued to undermine his companions’ morale.
“If no one ever survives, how is the fame of the Night Hunter spread?” someone retorted.
“They can brag about it themselves!”
“Shut your damn mouth, or I’ll kill you right now!” Seeing his subordinates’ morale already shattered, the leader of the fleeing Different Species became furious after hearing the despondent man’s words that further dampened spirits.
“Whatever, run or not, we’re dead either way. I might as well save my energy now,” the despondent man said. After hearing even his boss threaten him, he simply sat down on the ground, too lazy to run.
The despondent middle-aged man’s resigned attitude did not affect the other fleeing Mutated species. These monsters continued to rush down the streets, and as they moved, their ranks began to dwindle, with some leaving the group to flee elsewhere.
“Damn it all!” The leader cursed when he saw his subordinates abandoning him, intending to use him as bait to increase their chances of escape. But now was not the time for settling scores.
Thud!
Just then, the sound of a sharp blade piercing flesh rang out, coupled with a bone-deep stabbing pain. The leader looked down in shock to see a bone blade protruding from his chest and his feet started to leave the ground.
“I knew it, there’s no escaping death,” the despondent man muttered to himself, watching his colleagues and leader rise into the air at the end of the street.
He could tell from their struggling movements that they were experiencing indescribable pain, and their suffering stemmed from the nine Bone Tails that had impaled them, suspending them above the ground.
These were nine tails that had thrust out from the Void, but in reality, they belonged to a Giant Beast capable of concealing its form.
At this moment, the Giant Beast, having successfully captured its prey, was slowly revealing itself. As if by creation, the beast’s body emerged inch by inch from the empty street until it was fully visible.
The creature was a lizard-like Giant Beast, three stories tall, covered in Bone Plate Armor akin to Armor. It had nine lengthy tails on its back, each with tips sharp as blades.
Right now, these tails were all piercing one or two Different Species, each suspended mid-air. Although the Mutated species resembled humans, their vitality far surpassed that of humans, so even with their bodies impaled, they struggled under the tremendous pressure of the Giant Beast, trying to break free.
Unfortunately, once a Giant Beast captures its prey, it usually begins to feed immediately, and this one was no exception, bringing the impaled victims to its mouth to savor its catch.
“How terrible!” The despondent man watched as his boss and former comrades were devoured by the lizard-like creature, their bodies crushed amidst screams.
“I might want to die, but not like this. Even in death, I want it to be quick,” the disheartened man unconsciously stepped back, an instinct for survival.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The dull sound of footsteps came from behind. The man spun around, only to realize that he’d unknowingly retreated to the mouth of an alley, where a huge Black Wolf was approaching him with a steady gait.
As the giant wolf neared, blood dripped from its fangs, already stained red, making it appear even more ferocious.
But as the Giant Wolf emerged from the alley, the despondent man realized that what he saw was not a wolf but a dog, for compared to a wolf, the creature more closely resembled one.
Thud!
The Black Giant Dog arrived in front of the despondent man. Its hot breath gushed from its nostrils onto the man, sending him tumbling to the ground.
