At a classmate’s birthday party, amid the mingling lights, Muria handled each student who came up to chat with him with ease, as well as some adults who were keen on making his acquaintance.
At this social event, which justified itself with family bonds but was driven by interests, Muria once again witnessed the influence of the Federation’s top clans,
because what was originally a birthday banquet for his classmate Niluo became his show. He turned into the protagonist of the event, with almost every adult who learned of his identity eager to engage him in conversation and make a good impression.
Some parents who brought their daughters even pushed them in front of him, their intentions obviously unmistakable. They all wanted to forge a connection with the great Federation clans.
Hours later, the party—ostensibly thrown to celebrate a birthday but fraught with vested interests—came to an end, and by now it was completely dark outside.
“Feeling pretty proud of yourself, huh? Young master, today you really stole the show; everyone was tripping over themselves to curry favor with you.”
A wine-red sports car pulled up in front of Muria, and a girl with fiery red hair just like the car’s, poked her head out from the passenger seat.
“What’s there to be proud of?” Muria replied with a look of surprise to the girl trying to verbally undercut him, “I go through such things several times a month; I’m used to it by now. Or what? Haven’t you ever been through this?”
“You…” The girl suddenly fell silent, her face showing embarrassment as she withdrew her head into the car, “Hmph!”
“It’s Jelos, isn’t it? Didn’t your mother come to pick you up? If not, I can drop you off on the way.” The middle-aged man driving the sports car, who looked quite genial, turned his head to smile at Muria.
“No need, I still have some things to do. I’ll be going home later,” Muria politely declined the friendly offer from the man who resembled a kind neighbor.
“Alright then, remember to head home early.” Soon, the sports car started up again, and before it left, Hillman, sitting in the passenger seat, threw Muria a look that said ‘good to know you’re sensible.’
After that, Muria declined the offers from more than a dozen guests to drive him home, then picked a random street and began to wander aimlessly through the metropolis.
“Hm!” After walking a few streets, Muria realized no one was approaching him to strike up a conversation. After some thought, he walked a bit further. During this distance, his face gradually turned rosy red, a smell of alcohol began to emanate from him, and his steps became unsteady.
At that moment, he looked like a young man who had drunk too much at a gathering with classmates.
“Right now, I must look like quite the tasty prey,” Muria thought as he staggered, pretending to be a drunk youth, musing to himself. This was a fishing tactic he had devised after attending a class on Different Species, and this was his first field test.
The night grew denser and the pedestrians on the streets, the vehicles weaving through the roads, thinned out. The bustling metropolis gradually quieted down, and Muria continued to sway down the streets.
“Damn, not even a single fish caught, and my impersonation as bait is still not attractive enough.” Muria looked up at the sky and then checked the time, “Well, might as well just stagger home like this!”
With a sliver of hope still in his heart, Muria made his way towards his home, but what happened next took him by pleasant surprise.
“Little brother, why are you still walking alone on the streets so late?” Shortly after entering Muria’s perception range, within barely two or three breaths, a woman approached him. Her arm looped through Muria’s, supporting him, as a soft voice spoke near his ear.
“Hmm? Who are you?” Muria turned his befuddled face, looking at the tall woman who was holding his arm. She was an exquisite-looking, perfectly proportioned adult woman, like a ripe peach glistening with temptation.
“Me? I’m just a kind-hearted big sister! Did you get drunk at a gathering with classmates?”
“Drunk? I’m not drunk, I can still drink.” Muria, hearing the purple-haired woman’s words, displayed an unhappy expression, then began to rant like an overconfident youth.
“You’re already drunk, little brother. Come on, tell your big sister where you live; I’ll take you home,” the purple-haired woman said, her smile becoming brighter amidst the rich scent of life and alcohol coming from Muria.
“Home? Where is my home?” The boy reeking of alcohol looked up and around, then the confusion in his eyes deepened.
“Seems like you’ve had too much to drink, little brother. In that case, why don’t you spend the night at my place?” said the woman, her sweet, nearly cloying scent enveloping Muria’s nose, lulling his mind further into haze.
“Okay!” The boy’s face flushed even more, looking as if his spirit was swayed by passion, he nodded.
“Come to my car, I’ll take you to my place.” The woman led the boy, who seemed barely able to walk, to an ordinary business sedan.
The black-haired boy appeared drowsy as he lay down on the back seat of the sedan, looking delectably alluring. No sooner had he lain down than a similar-looking boy approached and took a sniff at him.
Muria squinted his eyes to get a clear view of who was drawing near? It was a young teenager who bore some resemblance to the adult woman already seated in the passenger seat, suggesting they might be siblings.
At that moment, the boy came to his side, sniffing at him with greedy and longing eyes. He resembled a hungry dog with crystal-clear saliva dripping from the corners of his mouth.
“It smells like it might be very tasty, sister, it seems you’ve found quite the premium prey this time.”
“Of course, who do you think your sister is?” The woman who was rapidly weaving through street traffic heard her brother’s words and smiled proudly. Then, she turned her head and saw her brother, who looked ready to bite at any second, and issued a warning.
“Don’t eat here. It’s not safe. Let’s talk about it when we get home.”
“I got it!” The brother, whose eyes were starting to show a hint of red, reluctantly moved away from Muria and wiped the drool from his mouth, sitting up straight again.
Meanwhile, he didn’t notice the tightly clenched fist of Muria underneath him gradually loosening. His patience with Muria had been pushed to its limit. If he had not moved away just now, Muria’s fist would have already landed on his head.
Soon, the sedan pulled into the edge of the city center, into a very ordinary and rundown residential area, and as soon as the car stopped, the teenager couldn’t wait to pick up the boy who had fallen asleep and rushed into an apartment building.
“Kids really can’t control their appetites!” The purple-haired mature woman stepped out of the car and watched her brother carry Muria, who was about the same height as himself. She smiled helplessly.
Boom!
After the teenager carrying Muria opened the rusty security door, the next second, he mercilessly threw him onto the hard floor, causing a muffled sound to echo.
“Where am I?” Muria, who had been thrown to the ground, twitched the corners of his mouth, then sat up, rubbing the back of his head, and opened his eyes to look at the purple-haired woman who entered the door.
“Little brother, have you forgotten? You drank too much and forgot your way home, so your sister brought you back.”
“Bang!” As the mature purple-haired woman spoke, she closed the security door and then turned to Muria with an increasingly vicious grin, “Now we can do something meaningful.”
“What meaningful thing?” The boy eyed the sibling pair, both large and small, as their pupils gradually turned blood red, and he stared back, stepping away.
“Of course, it’s mealtime!” The eyes of the boy, now completely blood red, stared at Muria, his saliva soaking his chin.
“Little brother, be good, we will be gentle with you, it will be quick. Of course, if you want to scream, feel free, I have specially soundproofed this room, no matter how loud you shout, no one outside will hear you.”
“Is that so, then I’m relieved.” Muria watched the impatient boy lunge toward him and smiled.
“Bang!”
After the bullet, laced with purple patterns, entered the boy’s forehead and exploded instantly, shattered bones and pale brain matter splattered everywhere. The scene, which had been somewhat ambiguous, suddenly turned bloody.
“You…” The purple-haired mature woman, who saw the standing boy with a white and purple patterned pistol in hand, no longer showing any fear, was shocked and then became furious.
“If the head explodes, you really do die, looks like a low-tier ghoul, such trash!” Muria, who pulled out his gun in a flash and blew the boy’s head off, glanced at the headless corpse on the ground and complained.
“Star Armor Master! Heh!” The mature female ghoul’s face contorted grotesquely as she saw her relative’s head burst with one shot, “How brave of you to emulate those in white without even a full coat of fur. You’re courting death!”
“My bait has successfully lured out this pair of ghouls, hasn’t it?” Muria said with a smile, while he also made a mental note of the term ‘in white.’
“Being a hunter, are you prepared to be eaten by your prey, little brother?” The face of the purple-haired ghoul turned vicious as the clothes on her back burst open, and ten tentacles emitting dark red light tore through her flesh, unfurling behind her and making her look even more demonic.
“I have never prepared for that.” Muria activated his Star Armor, and the Young Phoenix Star Armor assembled, covering his body inch by inch.
“Young Phoenix Star Armor? A member of the Douglas family, it seems today I’ve encountered a future big figure!” The mature female ghoul’s smile twisted as she recognized the distinctive Star Armor on Muria.
“Once I tear open your Star Armor, I will be able to taste the difference between the flesh of a great family clan member and that of ordinary people. I’m really looking forward to it!”
