Chapter 975 - 975 963 Is This Supposed to Be a Pet

Chapter 975: Chapter 963 Is This Supposed to Be a Pet?! Chapter 975: Chapter 963 Is This Supposed to Be a Pet?! Zijing Federation, Yakub Province, Capital Dorvalir

“Hillman, we’re about to have a new neighbor soon next door. I’ve inquired, and their child is also moving here to attend the Xiril Higher Star Armor Academy in our city! If all goes as expected, he should be a schoolmate of yours.”

“Mhm!” The little girl eating her meal nodded her head, her face showing a hint of curiosity, “Xiril Academy doesn’t care about background, only admitting junior high students with extremely high Star talent. I wonder what my new neighbor’s adaptation degree is?”

“Whatever it is, it must be over 30%, otherwise, they wouldn’t have received the academy’s acceptance letter!” The man at the dining table glanced at his daughter, then slowly said,

“As long as it exceeds this threshold, his future societal status will definitely not be low. Even if his adaptation degree is lower than yours, you must still maintain a friendly attitude towards him and not show any contempt.”

“I know, but there’s a big difference between an adaptation degree of 31%, which is meeting the standard, and 60%, which also meets the standard!”

“Regardless, living so close, it won’t hurt to make a good relationship with him. Who knows, he might be an even bigger talent than you with a higher adaptation degree!”

“Psh, aside from those guys in the Imperial Capital with adaptation degrees over 80%, who else in this city could have a higher adaptation degree than me?” The blonde and blue-eyed girl Hillman pursed her lips, showing a hint of pride on her face.

If it hadn’t been for her father’s friend, the principal of Xiril Academy, personally coming to their door begging her to enroll, she would have already run off to the Federation’s Capital, where better educational resources and more opportunities await someone with her talent.

“Don’t be too proud. Your talent isn’t the strongest in the Federation. The theoretical maximum value of Star talent is 100%, and you’re currently at only 75.63%. There are still many more outstanding talents in the Federation than you,” the man had to warn his somewhat inflated daughter.

“I know!” The girl fiddled with the food in her bowl, quickly finished her meal, and then hurriedly went upstairs. She hated listening to her father’s lectures the most.

At night, when the world was quiet, the little girl Hillman, who had fallen asleep, was woken up with the urge to pee. As she got up lazily preparing to go to the bathroom, she noticed that it was bright outside her window, and there were faint sounds of purposely hushed shouting.

Driven by a hint of curiosity, after Hillman relieved herself of the waste she had been holding in for most of the night, she pulled open the curtains in her room, looked out the window, and saw truck after truck of huge container vehicles. The logo on the trucks was instantly recognizable to her—it was that of a very famous moving company in her city.

“My new neighbor has already moved in!” Understanding what had happened, Hillman yawned, climbed back into bed with her huge teddy bear, and drifted back into dreamland.

In the early morning, as Hillman slowly opened her eyes to the crisp chirping of birds, she dragged her sleepy self through her washing routine, then changed into a clean and neat sportswear outfit and went out. She had a habit of running in the morning.

As Hillman stepped out of her family’s villa, she glanced curiously at the house next door and then took off running along her usual morning route. Curiosity aside, she had no interest in deliberately running to someone else’s yard gate to peep inside.

However, as Hillman made her way around the villa complex and was about to head home, she happened to pass by her new neighbor’s yard gate and, out of previous curiosity, instinctively turned her head and glanced towards it.

Then she happened to see a young man who seemed to be exercising in some way, his body soaked with sweat as well, with wet clothes clinging to his frame and revealing a lean and perfect physique.

“Is this my new neighbor? Not bad-looking! Quite handsome!” Realizing her new neighbor was a good-looking boy, the young girl’s mood instantly turned pleasant, and she couldn’t help but take a few more peeks inside.

But then the girl’s body suddenly stiffened because her initial glance was drawn to the boy’s presence. So when she continued to look, she noticed some discordant things around the boy’s body.

Thus,

“Ah!” A sharp scream of panic, due to severe shock, erupted in the renowned affluent area of Dorvalir, immediately alerting the guards in that region.

And the eight guards dressed in Star armor, descending from the sky following the sound, found a stunning young girl fainted beside the tree-lined street, and a young man squatting beside her, touching her body.

“Sir, I warn you, please stop what you’re doing immediately, and cooperate with us peacefully!” Seeing this young man suspected of molesting a girl, the guards’ eyes immediately felt troubled.

Because those who could afford to live here were either rich or noble, no matter who it was, they weren’t people these guards could easily provoke. The problem was that under the current circumstances, they had to intervene.

“Don’t misunderstand, I’m not interested in this little girl whose body hasn’t even developed yet!” Muria stood up, then looked at the guards in front of him who were pointing restraints at him, a look of helplessness on his face, and pointed to the yard gate behind him,

“I live here, and then this young lady fainted at my doorstep, so I heard her cry and came out to check on her!”

“So that’s what happened.” Hearing Muria’s explanation, the guards exchanged glances, then lowered their guns and revealed professional smiles, “We’re really sorry!”

No matter whether what this young man said was true or not, they had to take it as true; after all, they didn’t want to get involved in the disputes among the big figures who lived here.

“Do you know this lady, and what’s her condition now?” One guard ventured to ask.

“Her psychological capacity is just too weak. She fainted from excessive fright. It’s nothing serious. She’ll wake up before long. You can check her information and then contact her family to take her home!” Muria said nonchalantly.

“Wait a minute, sir, what is this excessive fright that the lady supposedly experienced?” A young guard stared at Muria’s youthful face. He had caught the key phrase in Muria’s words,

“She fainted at the door of your house, which means she saw something at your house that caused her to be terribly frightened, right?”

“That’s right!” Muria nodded, then showed a resigned expression, “I guess she must have seen my pet, which scared her into fainting!”

“Your pet?” The guards looked at each other, then surprise appeared in their eyes. What kind of pet could scare a well-travelled rich heiress into fainting outright?

“Sir, sorry, but may we see the pet you’re raising?”

“Ahem, I’ve got quite a few pets, so I’m not sure which one scared her,” Muria coughed.

“Then please let us see all of them!”

“Get ready mentally then!” Muria warned them.

“No problem, sir, we’re all professionally trained. Whatever the situation, we can keep our composure,” said a guard confidently, a hint of disdain on his face.

“Come on out!” Muria shouted toward his courtyard, and the seemingly calm and peaceful courtyard instantly transformed into a primitive wild jungle.

A black-scaled python thick as a barrel slithered down from the branches of an ancient, leafy tree.

From what appeared to be a calm, rippling pond, a thick-scaled crocodile split the water surface and slowly walked out.

A plump, round brown bear with a lazy and slack demeanor pushed through the dense shrubs and lumbered out, yet nobody found this furry creature cute, for it was damn huge…

“This…” Seeing the courtyard that had instantaneously turned into a wild jungle, the guards simultaneously stepped back and armed themselves with their half-equipped star armor, starting to summon their External Armament.

“Don’t get agitated; these are all my pets. They’re quite well-behaved and won’t attack you!” Muria enjoyed the drastic change in the guards’ expressions and stopped them with a smile.

“Sir, are these the pets you’re keeping?” A guard lowered his visor, then looked at Muria with an expression skeptical of life itself.

Do you even understand the concept of pets? The small, fluffy ones that can also act cute—those are called pets. What the hell are these things?

“Yes, these are my pets, don’t worry. I have already filed a report with the city government, and it has been approved! So you don’t need to worry about these pets!”

“…” The guards looked at each other. This wasn’t a question of whether the government could approve it or not; it was about the life and safety of the residents here.

“Let’s notify this young lady’s family first!” A guard looked sympathetically and pityingly at Hillman, who was still lying unconscious on the ground. So she fainted after seeing these creatures akin to monsters; it was no wonder.

“Sir, please come with us. We need to negotiate and resolve the issue with these pets!” The guards looked at Muria apologetically; they had just received orders from the property management of this villa area.

“I knew it!” Muria shook his head as he saw the change in the guards’ demeanor, “If they want to talk, let them come to me themselves. Oh, by the way, my name is Jelos Douglas!”
