Chapter 948 - 948 936 The Collapsed Battle Situation The Mad
Chapter 948: Chapter 936: The Collapsed Battle Situation, The Mad General Chapter 948: Chapter 936: The Collapsed Battle Situation, The Mad General “A superpowered creature?”
The general, who had been enthusiastically watching the light screen with the constantly updating battlefield map, suddenly found himself in a state of confusion upon hearing the Intelligence brain’s unexpected warning and its suggestions.
“What on earth is this thing? It took down seven of our battleships in 37 seconds, that’s even more terrifying than a lord-level creature!”
Upon hearing the report about the battleships, exclamations of surprise immediately filled the interior of the vessel.
“Retrieve the footage of those seven battleships before they were taken down for me. I want to see just what sort of creature took down my ships!”
Soon, the first-person perspective from the seven battleships that Muria had destroyed with thunder appeared within the flagship, followed by an attack that seemed like heavenly punishment unfolding before their eyes.
However, in this footage, from start to finish they could only see the golden light appearing from the horizon, the sky tinged by the golden light, and the thunder striking down from the heavens.
“Is this some kind of wrath of the thunder god or what?” An officer trembled as he witnessed this terrifying scene, half-jokingly trying to mask his inner fear and unease.
“What damn thunder god, it’s nothing more than an extraordinary monster with greater strength!” bellowed General William with irritation, having not yet seen what their adversary looked like as they had already lost seven battleships.
He would never admit that what attacked them was any sort of thunder god; if he did, the morale of the lower-ranking soldiers would collapse. Gods are meant to be worshipped and revered.
“Warning: An unknown superpowered creature is moving towards the Garfa squadron, please instruct the commander to issue a retreat order to the Garfa squadron to avoid pointless sacrifices!”
Meanwhile, the voice of the Intelligence brain rang out once again; due to Muria making no effort to conceal his presence, the Earth Star civilization detected his approximate location with various surveillance devices set up on the ground.
“Order: Command the Garfa squadron to hold off this superpowered creature at all costs.”
General William blatantly ignored the Intelligence brain’s reminder and suggestion, issuing a command. He was preparing to use his soldiers as bait and assemble the surrounding forces to annihilate this superpowered creature who had thrown their plans into disarray.
He did not believe that there existed any creature on this earth that couldn’t be killed by heat weapons; if they couldn’t, it simply meant that the caliber and yield of the weapons weren’t sufficient.
“Your Excellency, if you issue such an order, there’s a 99.9% chance that the entire Garfa squadron will be annihilated,” the humanized Intelligence brain reminded in the headquarters.
“For the victory of the war, some sacrifices are necessary! Humanity will honor them!”
General William spoke with a stern face, “Don’t give me any more such suggestions. I am the highest commander and decision-maker of this war.”
“Understood!”
“Convey my command to the Garfa squadron, tell them that their nearby comrades will come to support them in the shortest time possible, and to remain calm and unafraid!”
Having issued the order that would send his own men to their doom, the ambitious general began mobilizing the nearby army to prepare for a decisive firepower assault on the superpowered creature that jumped into the fray.
However, the general hadn’t yet realized just what kind of terrifying existence he aimed to confront—a being that humans who had witnessed it with their own eyes had come to worship as a god.
…
“How boring!”
With a casual punch, Muria stood in the air, shattering a battleship, and then looked beside him at Mesha, who had just completed an evolution.
This giant beast with a wingspan exceeding sixty meters clawed onto a battleship, then tore open its outer alloy armor. The beast with resplendent black and golden patterned scales lowered its head, and a destructive breath surged from its mouth, infused into the vessel.
Boom!
After Mesha, now fully evolved into a dragon, released its breath, it immediately flapped its wings and left the battleship. As soon as it withdrew a distance, the battleship exploded in midair, turning into a cloud of metal fragments—and it was also the last battleship in the area.
Howl!
Delighted with the results, Mesha let out a triumphant howl, then looked at Muria with a mix of ingratiating and merit-seeking expressions, its tail swishing unconsciously.
“You, cut out the flattery. There’s still a battle to fight, so you better perform well. You’ll naturally be rewarded when the time comes!” Muria said to the beast, whose essence was that of a fawning creature, somewhat speechlessly.
This fellow was someone he encountered when he followed the Divine Tree’s guidance to this airspace. Since Mesha wasn’t as fast as Muria, it only caught up after Muria took care of an Earth Star fleet.
Being as powerful as it was, Mesha naturally fell within the range of the Divine Tree’s augury, and it had no intention of refusing the summon of the World Will, the order from the Mother of the world. It had no reason to refuse.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Just as the airspace had returned to calm, a barrage of white beams tinged with crimson, energy cannons, thundered in from afar. Some whizzed past Muria, while others struck Mesha directly.
Roar!
For Mesha, cloaked in its impenetrable dragon scales, these energy cannons were barely itch-causing annoyances, but such attacks thoroughly enraged the giant beast that had become excessively prideful due to its dragon blood evolution.
Thus, the giant beast opened its vast maw and retaliated with a breath of energy—purple and black, entwined with thunder—its terrifying energetic breath tearing through the heavens. Merely grazing a battleship was enough to trigger a chain reaction.
The domineering force corroded the exterior armor of the impacted battleship and then directly detonated its core area.
Clearly unsatisfied with such a display, Mesha flapped its wings, turning into a streak of black light, and lunged at the attacking battleship, engaging the cumbersome war machines in close combat.
“What a tragedy!”
Standing motionless in midair, Muria watched as its mount ripped through one battleship after another, reducing them along with their human occupants to wreckage.
This outcome was hardly surprising to him. Considering that Mesha’s size was now comparable to the humans’ conventional battleships, the result of the battle was completely one-sided.
The battleships’ main cannons couldn’t even penetrate Mesha’s scale defenses, let alone break through, so there was certainly no talk of a kill.
…
“Run for your lives, we can’t resist this monster, retreat at full speed from this battlefield! We must survive!”
“Help! Mother, I don’t want to die!”
“Our attacks are doing nothing but enraging it, retreat!”
“But Commander, headquarters has ordered us to hold our ground and try everything to stall the beast, we have reinforcements coming.”
“Screw reinforcements, are you blind? If our main cannons can’t even scratch its skin, what good are more reinforcements? Retreat at full speed now!”
“They’re ordering us to attack? What kind of shit is the headquarters filled with? Haven’t they realized what we’re up against? If they want an attack, let those imbeciles in the sky come down and do it themselves!”
“I’m calling it quits, all military officers and soldiers listen to me, I’m not scared of dying, but I’ve no interest in leading you to die under the saliva of a monster, so, retreat now, I will take full responsibility for all the consequences.”
… Within the flagship located beyond the Yikong Human World, General William’s face grew increasingly grim as he listened to the various roars and screams emanating from the war channel.
At first, the speech that broadcasted from the war channel included various voices filled with despair and helplessness towards the monster, as well as the shameful sounds of crying and calling for parents. But as he maneuvered the troops to continue besieging the superpowered creatures that appeared one after another on the battlefield,
The voice of abuse and roars in the war channel became more unpleasant, and those abusive words were directed at him, the supreme commander of this war.
These voices fully illustrated the state of the war, as the morale of the lower-ranked soldiers had completely collapsed. Full of despair and anger, they vented their emotions by cursing at the headquarters, realizing that they were being sent to their deaths.
Being ordered to combat two monsters they couldn’t possibly defeat effortlessly turned their negative emotions entirely onto the highest commander of the war.
“Indeed, I had the idea of sacrificing some and then achieving victory, but I had no intention of sending all of you to your deaths,” General William spoke with anger on his face after hearing the insults from the war channel.
His anger was not directed at those lower-ranked soldiers and captains who cursed him but at the two superpowered creatures that had completely turned the tide of the war.
“This war, no, to be precise, this was supposed to be a military exercise testing our troops’ execution ability, it wasn’t supposed to be called a war at all!
But ever since these two monsters appeared, it has turned into a war, a war where we are utterly at a disadvantage. Pandora Planet is truly terrifying!”
General William began to mutter to himself, as his emotions seemed to have completely collapsed.
“General?” His young and beautiful adjutant immediately came forward, showing concern on her face.
“I’m fine!” General William dismissed his adjutant, who was also his mistress, and then a hint of madness appeared in his eyes,
“My soldiers are saying I don’t know what kind of monster they’re facing? Fine, now I command the flagship to descend, enter the Pandora World, and I want to see for myself what kind of monster has frightened my soldiers to such an extent!”
