Chapter 689 - 689 681 Fate Brings Us Together Again

Chapter 689: Chapter 681: Fate Brings Us Together Again Chapter 689: Chapter 681: Fate Brings Us Together Again “Why did you enslave the Liches?” Muria stared at the Golden Dragon Bartlemy before him. If he was only judging by senses, Muria would never believe that what was squatting before him was a Golden Dragon, “The price you’ve paid appears to be rather high.”

“As expected of a descendant of the Dragon King, more open-minded than an average Golden Dragon. Ordinary golden dragons simply can’t converse with me this way. I must use absolute power to subdue them first, then can I properly explain.”

After sensing the bloodline aura of Muria, the Ancient Golden Dragon Bartlemy arrived through a tear in space, his voice filled with admiration.

“Your appearance, and your strength, is too easily misunderstood.” Muria stared at the golden dragon before him. Instead of calling it a Golden Dragon, it might be more suitable to call him an Abyssal Golden Dragon.

This dragon generally still retains the form of a Golden Dragon, but its golden dragon scales are covered with gray-black lines, possessing a sense of death, and spikes made of bone protrude from its neck and head. It lacks any majesty typical of golden dragons and instead appears savage and ferocious.

“Due to the fusion of too much Death Qi, my life form is no longer the same as an ordinary Golden Dragon, misunderstanding is inevitable.” The Ancient Golden Dragon Bartlemy managed a somewhat discouraged smile. It seemed he was dissatisfied with his appearance.

“You haven’t told me why you enslaved the Liches yet?”

“The reason is simple, you should know, each Lich is a high-level mage. I value their productivity; after enslaving them, I can command them to continuously create wealth for me, which equates to possessing a never-ending production line for magic tools and spell scrolls. All these can bring me a substantial amount of wealth.”

Ancient Golden Dragon Bartlemy elatedly explained to Muria, appearing exceedingly smug.

“Is that so? Then why have you turned into this state now?” Muria asked further. Enslaving Liches doesn’t turn one into this state; enslaving Liches only requires leaving a Spirit Imprint on the target; how could one be permeated with Death Qi to the point of changing their life form?

“…” Ancient Golden Dragon Bartlemy scratched his neck, keeping silent.

“Are there any difficulties in explaining? If so, it’s alright to drop it.” Seeing that Bartlemy didn’t want to speak, Muria shook his head, not forcing. Every dragon has its right to privacy.

“There’s nothing I can’t talk about, just that I’ve enslaved too many Liches. After a long time together, my body has become like this.” Bartlemy laughed, giving a seemingly reasonable explanation.

Muria fell silent for a while, this sort of reason might be enough to fool juvenile dragons. With the ability of an Ancient Dragon, unless it’s Death God himself making the transformation, the Death Qi can’t permeate the dragon’s body and change its form unless he relented to it willingly.

“Bartlemy, you know, in a way, we are dragons with a shared goal.” Instead of dwelling on his appearance, Muria forcefully changed the topic.

“Huh?” The Golden Dragon tainted by Death Qi revealed a strange expression, “Shared goal?”

“Do you know why I’m here?” Muria asked with a smile.

“I don’t,” Bartlemy, getting a glimpse of something, looked at Muria with curiosity.

“I’m here to find Liches. I also want to enslave a group of Liches to work for me.” Muria laughed as he revealed his reason for coming to the Undead Dungeon, “However, before this, I had not heard of your name. We have the same goal, it’s just a coincidence.”

“Enslaving Liches? Quite similar indeed.” Bartlemy laughed heartily, “What level of Lich do you want? How many? Considering that I’m the ruler of this region, I know many hidden places of Liches.”

“I am genuinely grateful.” Muria expressed his surprise. Indeed, it’s more convenient dealing with an acquainted dragon, “Seven or eight Legendary Liches would be enough. As for Soul Intent Level Liches, however many you can provide, I will want.”

“…” Bartlemy was speechless. Seven or eight Legendary Liches, how could he regard liches so lightly?

“What do you want to do by enslaving so many Liches?”

“I have a need in that regard.” Muria didn’t say more. This dragon was a new acquaintance; even if it were a regular Golden Dragon, he wouldn’t say more.

Senapus was in desperate need of mage-type talents; otherwise, Muria wouldn’t have thought of capturing a Lich. The Cloud Island renovation plan needed plenty of high-ranking mages, especially Legendary Mages. However, only three Legendary Mages existed in Senapus.

A Mage named Mason with unknown origins, another who attacked Clodia, and then was captured alive and recently released, a dragon-slaying mage. The other was a Legendary Mage who hunted dragons. Both were relatively upright Mages, but now, both had been coerced by Prince Muria into signing a contract of servitude for a thousand years.

“You don’t mind? Enslaving Lichs would make us pariahs among our kin.” Bartlemy asked seriously.

“I am a descendant of the Dragon King. How can I show my noble status without some individuality?” Muria said half-jokingly, “If I only followed the rules like ordinary Golden Dragons, merely possessing more power than them, it would be a shame for my bloodline.”

“Descendant of the Dragon King, that’s quite an identity.” Bartlemy was startled and then understood, “Come with me! To my residence, I will give you all the information about Lichs I’ve collected that don’t have troublesome backgrounds.”

“The honour is mine, Your Excellency Bartlemy.” Upon hearing this invitation from the Golden Dragon, Muria looked back at Michaela. Seeing her not opposing, he agreed. He was very curious about what a Golden Dragon living underground would call home.

Behind Muria, Irvis and Michaela hadn’t said a word or interjected. While Bartlemy had noticed that something was off, he didn’t ask about their identities. He noticed that Muria was somewhat guarded against him. After all, he was a Golden Dragon fused with Death Qi. Not acting against him on the spot already showed that he trusted him a lot.

“Such surprising magic attainments! Even a True God wouldn’t do much better.”

Upon arriving at Bartlemy’s residence, Muria couldn’t help exclaming in awe. He saw the sun, saw the tropical rainforest under the ground, no less than three thousand meters from the surface, and none of this was an illusion.

“A Semi Plane permanently connected to the Main World. Your Excellency Bartlemy’s magic attainments, even few Legendary Mages in the Heavenly Realm could achieve this.” Seeing the scene before them, Irvis and Michaela also showed expressions of shock.

Comprised of ancient trees full of life was an endless green sea. In the middle of this special ocean, a pure white castle stood tall. Within it were faintly visible dragon-shaped beings circling, and the projection of the Law of the Sun projected a hot beam of sunlight.

“You flatter me, fellow and superior mages in the Heavenly Realm are far more excellent than me. My abilities mean nothing.” Bartlemy was unusually modest, with none of the arrogance typical of Golden Dragons on him.

“Please come in.” When they reached the edge of the forest, truly feeling the sunlight, Bartlemy placed one claw on his chest and extended the other, making an inviting gesture.

After arriving at Bartlemy’s castle in the Semi Plane, Muria, Michaela and Irvis were warmly welcomed by the ancient dragon. It was apparent that because of his power, this dragon probably didn’t have many friends left, making him very enthusiastic towards Muria.

Quickly, Muria obtained lots of information on Lichs from Bartlemy. There were nearly fifty soul intent level Lichs, and seven Legendary Lichs, among them was surprisingly a familiar face to Muria.

“The Undead Captain Barbossa,” Muria, soaking in the golden magma pool and feeling warm all over, flipped open the information booklet in his hands; A skeleton Lich standing on an Iron Battleship emitting blue ghostly light, wearing a triangular captain’s hat and full of spirit. An unexpected look flashed in Muria’s eyes.

“Prince Muria, do you know him?” Bartlemy, equally comfortable in the magma pool, asked with surprise.

“Due to an accident, I had the chance to meet this Lich.” Muria, looking at the dignified Great Lich above, revealed a baffling look, “My premonition was right. I can’t believe I would meet him again here.”

“He is a Great Lich known all over the world. Your highness, having met him and came out unscathed, you’re very lucky.” Bartlemy, who once had an unpleasant encounter with Barbossa, exclaimed.

“Not only am I unharmed, I’ve also completed a transaction with him.” Muria showed a strange look. He remembered that he got a palm-sized piece of Legendary Metal with the attribute of life from this Great Lich.
