Chapter 688 - 688 680 A Dragon with Mutual Goals

Chapter 688: Chapter 680: A Dragon with Mutual Goals? Chapter 688: Chapter 680: A Dragon with Mutual Goals? “Your senses really are sharp, Michaela. You are so much better than some.” Muria smiled at the Blazing Sky Girl behind him as they stood before the underground cavity filled densely with various undead architecture.

While Muria and Michaela casually chatted, not far from them, about a hundred meters away, a Dark Knight, riding on a Skeletal Warhorse, stared at them blankly, the soul fire in its eyes leaping wildly.

It did not understand why a hole would suddenly appear in the fortified wall next to its dwelling, and why living creatures with such vigorous life auras could suddenly come out from inside.

However, not understanding didn’t matter. They were mindless things anyway. All it had to know was that it and these creatures were mortal enemies, and all it needed to do now was raise the spear in its hand and charge.

“Cavalry! Prepare to charge!” A cold and majestic command echoed through the resting undead knights’ soul fire. Then, one after another, knights charged out from the skeletal structures…

“It seems that our luck is good. As soon as we arrived, we found a cavalry camp of the undead.” Muria turned to look at the twenty or so undead knights lined up in front of him, about to charge at him. He extended a finger, lightly pointed, and in that instant…the soul fires of these knights were extinguished.

“That Lich is coming.” Michaela reminded lightly from behind Muria.

“Mika, I see them.” Muria lifted his head, looking up at the space above this nearly ten square kilometers of underground cavity.

A gloomy, blue, eerie Nether Fire lit up this cavity, with densely arranged undead architecture. Amidst the castle they were guarding, there was a strong surge of black-gray death qi. A skull adorned with runes was faintly visible, emitting an enormous spiritual pressure.

“Who is it that dares to invade the territory of the great Lich Barak?” The Lich, sensing that its undead knight regiment had been wiped out in an instant, roared in anger. Followed by several small Vengeful Spirits, it flew towards Muria’s position. Muria also felt the ground slightly vibrating as countless skeletons, ghouls, and abominations…various undead creatures with physical forms surged out from the buildings, forming a small undead tide that rushed towards him.

“Only a third-tier Lich, too weak. It seems that I need to capture a few more.” Muria sensed the strength of the Lich, and a disappointed look appeared on his face.

As soon as Muria had this thought, golden flames instantly lit up this dark underground cave, as if the sun had descended here. Following the appearance of the flames, hundreds of low-ranking undead creatures turned into ash under the illumination of the flames.

“Lord Golden Dragon, spare my life!” The great lich, which had been domineering just a moment ago, immediately wilted upon seeing the golden flames emerging from Muria. Its lich body fell in front of Muria and obediently prostrated on the ground.

“Are all Liches so soft nowadays?” Muria’s outstretched hand froze in mid-air as he looked at the Lich lying on the ground, showing signs of surrender. Continuing to move his hand forward, he said, “But do you think that by surrendering, I won’t harm you?”

The surging Dragon Flames morphed into a huge palm at Muria’s command, which then heavily slapped this great Lich, launching it and drawing a vacuum channel thousands of meters long. It smashed it to the other side of the underground cavity, resulting in a huge pit. Web-like cracks spread out, and numerous cracks surfaced on its meticulously polished crystal skeleton body.

Muria had come with the thought of subduing the Lich. To subdue someone, he needed to show off his own strength, didn’t he? Even Liches, who pursued eternal knowledge, would respect the power above them.

“Lord Golden Dragon, spare me! I am under the command of Mr. Bartlemy Boganda. Please show mercy.” The Lich Barak, who nonchalantly pulled its almost-shattered undead body out of the stone wall, quickly explained.

“Already has a master.” Hearing this disappointing news, Muria frowned slightly, “How strong is your master? Is he also a Lich? Legend or half-god?”

“Honorable Lord Golden Dragon, he is an Ancient Golden Dragon, like you.” The Lich, which Muria had nearly blown up with a slap, speedily answerd, fearing that Muria would grow impatient and give it another slap. Reconstructing an undead body was very costly.

“Hmm?” This time, a look of surprise showed on Muria’s face, “What did you say? Your master is a Golden Dragon?”

“Don’t you know? The dragon that enslaved the Lich Bartlemy, you being a Golden Dragon, should have heard of Mr. Bartlemy.”

“I’m a Golden Dragon from another continent, not a native one.” Muria explained, finding the situation getting interesting.

“I never thought there would be a fallen dragon here,” Muttered Ilves, a glare in his eyes revealing his undisguised murderous intention upon hearing that this Lich’s master was a dragon.

The relationship between the Blazing Sky God Race and the Dragon Race was not cordial, especially with the Five-Color Dragon Clan and those that reveled in the power of the Abyss of the Undead. They were pure enemies.

“You should be able to contact your master, right? Let me meet him.” Upon noticing his uncle’s gaze, Muria narrowed his eyes. As a Golden Dragon, he naturally understood the horrors a fallen Golden Dragon could unleash. The undead had achieved great power, and produced various forms of dragon-like beings, like the Ghost Dragon, Bone Dragon, and Corpse Dragon.

“My master is not a fallen Golden Dragon. He’s just a bit special. He did not harm any other creatures when he assumed command over us.” The Great Lich started to explain when he realized that Muria and his companions seemed intent on confronting his master.

“Stop the bullshit, do you think we would believe what a Lich says?” Ilves retorted impatiently.

“Never mind him, if this Golden Dragon does nothing more than enslave the undead, I think we have a lot in common.” Without rejecting the Lich’s remarks, Muria’s demeanor softened. This dragon might share his ambition and vision. “Can you get your master for me?”

….

“Barrack, what do you want?” A dragon-shaped shadow formed from condensed death Qi was vaguely apparent in the dark communication magic array. “Hmm? You’re injured; how did that happen?”

“You are the Golden Dragon who enslaved the Lich.” Muria shoved the severely injured Lich aside and looked at the shadow of death Qi dragon before him with interest.

“Did you injure my subordinate?”

“Indeed. There’s no denying that,” answered Muria plainly.

“You are audacious.” The shadow in front of Muria collapsed suddenly. The space rippled like the surface of a pond. Then, a dragon claw covered in golden scales with black patterns on the edges tore through space, making a sharp swipe at the spot where Muria was.

“You’re quite hot-tempered,” Muria held back Ilves who was about to fight. He transformed his hand into a dragon claw and fiercely clashed against what looked like a dragon claw corroded by death Qi.

“You’re a Golden Dragon as well!” A surprised voice echoed from behind the claw. Immediately, the voice turned somewhat helpless, “Yet another of my kind coming to trouble me. How many times must I explain that I have not fallen!”
