“If you must interpret it that way, you may.”
“So when do you plan on leaving?” Naturally, Muria was wary of this undecipherable entity. He believed that even using all his might, he would be unable to harm him. He had encountered similar entities before, like that green-skinned Goblin Merchant, Stalon – an untouchable creature who wielded some sort of power.
“How dare you group me with those repugnant creatures! I have contributed so much to your cause, and now, when I’m no longer of use, you want to dismiss me?” The old man angrily stroked his beard, appearing quite irate.
“You underestimate yourself, Master Mason. Based on the abilities you’ve showcased so far, I am confident that your presence can indeed provide considerable assistance to the development of my group.”
“So, why are you trying to drive me away? Do you know how many groups are eager to have an old man like me?”
“I cannot see through you. Until now, apart from your name, I know nothing about you.”
“Is it the control a ruler craves? You detest anything that strays from your control and hence, you aim to oust it, even if it means pausing the development of your group? Do you know the consequences once I leave?”
“Whatever the consequences, I trust that my followers and I can handle them.”
“Accept the stagnation of the Cloud Island remodeling project? Oh yes, and your Magic Smart Defense System, which I am in charge of building. Thus far, we’ve successfully created only a prototype; many areas need improvement. Without me, many major projects won’t proceed, the skills of those little ones you’ve recruited are lacking.”
“So, I should not only refrain from dismissing you but also plead for you to stay, right?” Muria rubbed his temples, it seemed that his group had become contingent on this entity’s presence.
“No, you don’t need to beg. I choose to stay and serve you here. Just researching with those little ones under your command already satisfies me.”
“Only that, and nothing more? I really can’t believe that someone of your capacity would choose to stay here.” Muria sighed.
“Ruler’s suspicion. Instead of adopting good practices, you pick up the bad. You can rest assured that I bear you, or your group, no ill will. After all, I really can’t afford to offend those beings standing behind you. So, please just accept my loyalty.”
“Then let’s keep things as they are. I shan’t interfere in your research.” Muria knew Merlin was referring to the Epic Titan, and Muria agreed with his point about not being able to offend the Epic Titan. Besides, the temptation of a mage of, at the very least, Legend rank voluntarily pledging his allegiance was too substantial.
“Then I shall take my leave, I have research to undertake. Can’t dilly-dally for too long.”
“Please, as you wish, Master Mason.” Watching this “Gold Rank” mage leave, Muria’s gaze fell upon the giantess with Blue Wavy Hair in the castle’s great hall. This was not her original form.
“And you, what about you? Legendary creature from the deep sea, why did you infiltrate my group?”
“I just woke up recently, and while wandering in the sky, I discovered Xena Pus’s existence. So, I just came up for a visit.” The blue-haired giantess spoke casually.
In Muria’s view, behind this beautiful giantess, the colossal figure of a deep-sea beast loomed. Her deep blue skin was adorned with luminescent blue scales, and a horn that threatened to pierce space itself, barely visible. She was a genuine deep-sea Overlord.
It was Michaela who discovered her existence. When she was found, she was leisurely swimming in her original form on a Cloud Island. Indeed, this creature had transformed a Cloud Island into a massive floating swimming pool and had even enlisted over a hundred Tidal Giants to serve her.
She deceitfully told Mia that she knew Muria, occupied an island blatantly, and lived a life of luxury in Xena Pus under her pretenses.
“You lied to my female servant, claiming to serve me, exploited the resources in my group for entertainment. So tell me, how do you plan to make up for my losses?” Muria watched this deep-sea Overlord with Michaela by his side, causing her to squirm uncomfortably, and tempting her to revert to her original form.
“I have no money.” This salted fish from the depths of the sea boldly proclaimed.
“Hmm?” Muria’s eyes narrowed, and the flames on Michaela’s wings next to her grew even brighter.
“Uh, I can give you some of my fallen scales and my horn, is that enough?” The massive deep-sea dragon whale, which had snuck in during Xena Pus’ absence, immediately backed down and weakly asked.
“Not enough, you wrecked a large Cloud Island of mine,” Muria firmly declined the value of the legendary materials this dragon whale had presented, “These are far from enough!”
“What do you want?”
“Since you falsely claimed to be one of my followers, let’s make that lie a reality. Sign a contract with me!” Muria revealed a gentle smile, it already nested in her Xena Pus, where else could it think to escape to?
“Can!” This deep-sea Overlord-level Creature thought for a moment, then readily agreed, “But, I won’t agree to overly restrictive contract conditions.”
“Reasonable, as long as you act as the guardian of Xena Pus, you have to fend off any invaders with all your power when the territory is invaded.”
“No problem.” The rather rotund dragon whale very cheerfully agreed, as the contract conditions were unexpectedly lenient.
Next, Muria met with two infiltrating Metallic Ancient Dragons, a Red Bronze Ancient Dragon who liked to tell lewd jokes in the Cloud Island tavern, and a Bronze Ancient Dragon who snuck into the Punishment Legion to fight evil. What else could Muria do with the elders of her kind? A quick greeting, acknowledging their existence, and thinking of ways to keep them around.
Of course, the metal dragons that slipped into Xena Pus were not limited to these two ancient dragons, there were more, but Muria had no need to meet each of them personally.
“So now, it’s your problem, Shadowy Girl’s Majesty!” Muria’s gaze turned toward a void, and a tall, dignified-looking Zor Elf slowly appeared.
“You once helped me, so I have no objections to you promoting your faith on my territory to the Zor Elves.”
The Zor girl blinked, the Divine Glory in her eyes swirling. “If you have no objections, then why did you call me over? What do you want to say to me?”
“Promoting your doctrine, guiding the Zor elves to be kind, I certainly have no problem with that. But there is one point, can you perhaps pay a little attention to the impact? The prayer ritual you hold leaves a bad impression, I have many vigorous male creatures under me, and your believers are holding prayer ceremonies every day, I worry that some very unsavory events may occur.”
Muria said with a headache, this goddess, in his view, has a very bad habit of not wearing clothes, which of course isn’t a problem for a deity.
But she requires her believers to do the same, and in her ceremonial rites, they are also required to go without clothes.
So, during the time that Muria was gone, one could often see large groups of Zor Elves, at their goddess’s behest, twirling under the moonlight.
“I believe in your ability to maintain order, the son of Titans and Dragons. You won’t let any evils occur on your territory.”
“Isn’t it better to have your believers wear clothes? Why do they need to be naked?” Muria questioned, somewhat overwhelmed. The Zor Elf’s sacrificial behavior was having a significant adverse effect on Xena Pus.
“This is an indispensable part of the sacrifice.” The avatar of the Shadowy Girl replied with a smile.
“You’re just indulging in your own bad taste!” Muria silently complained.
