King of Titans and Dragons -
Chapter 374 - 374 369 Intelligence Organization
Chapter 374: Chapter 369: Intelligence Organization Chapter 374: Chapter 369: Intelligence Organization Islands that resembled cloud-tipped mountain peaks turned upside-down hung in the clear sky, casting vast shadows on the sea surface.
This was a cluster of islands suspended in the sky. While their combined area was not as extensive as the Titan Islands, it was still incredibly awe-inspiring. After all, the sight of cloud islands provided a more dramatically impactful spectacle than ordinary islands in the sea.
However, the most astounding aspect was the massive hurricane group encircling this cluster of cloud islands. Neither reaching the sky above nor the earth below, the hurricanes whirled around the numerous cloud islands, emitting furious howling sounds and inducing atmospheric turmoil.
“What clear wind!” This was Muria’s first impression of the moving cloud islands after activating the Reflection Crystal. The wind surrounding the cloud islands was amazingly clean, seemingly devoid of any impurities, and even sunlight could shine through unobstructed.
“Have you ever explored the cloud islands?” Muria asked.
“We’ve tried, but we don’t have the power to penetrate the hurricane’s enclosure. We estimate that one needs to possess a gold-rank power to break through. My weapons were instantly disintegrated upon contacting the hurricane.”
“Hmm!” Muria nodded pensively, and asked the knight again, “According to your estimates, how long will it take for these cloud islands to hover over the Lockman Kingdom?”
“Given the speed at which the cloud islands are moving, it would take at most ten days to reach directly above the Isman Fortress.”
“I understand. I will arrange for someone to explore the cloud islands to ascertain the level of threat to my Lockman Kingdom. You should go and rest well! You’ve worked hard.”
“Your Excellency, it was my duty.” Upon hearing Muria’s gentle and empathetic words, a look of fright and excitement immediately appeared on the knight’s face. It seems that this governing lord was indeed a kind ruler.
“What a nuisance!” Muria rubbed at her temples, glancing up at the fleet of airships already setting off into the sky she muttered a complaint, “They sure move fast.”
“Call the cloud giant leader, Ebute, over here! I have tasks to assign to him.” After her brief complaint, Muria began to address the surprise development.
“Your Majesty, may I ask your instructions?” Joined swiftly by Ebute, the cloud giant leader bowed deferentially.
A pioneer among the subjects who followed Muria, Ebute pledged his allegiance to Muria back when she was in the Golden Dragon’s Crystal Castle yet. One of the cloud giant leaders Muria trusts the most.
“I need you to lead a platoon of cloud giants to explore a migrating cloud island. This island is significantly different from normal cloud islands.” While speaking, Muria tossed the crystal in her hand to Ebute for his own examination.
“As you wish. I shall discover details of everything on the islands for you.” Despite noticing the abnormalities of the cloud island, Ebute accepted the mission without any hesitation or doubts.
“Terence, tell ten Storm Giants who have broken through their limits and have Giant Peng mounts to follow Ebute’s command.” Muria turned to look at the subordinate by her side—an armored, purple-skinned muscular man about four meters in height—and gave him her orders.
“Understood.”
Before long, Cloud Giant commander Ebute, ten Storm Giants riding Giant Pengs, a hundred Cloud Titan Guards, and nearly a thousand griffins set off on a teleportation array toward Isman Fortress. Since they were heading out to sea, the dragonized Fierce Wolves they usually took care of were left in the Royal Palace.
“What a drag!” After dispatching the Giant investigation troop, Muria began to fulfill her duties as a Regent, dealing with a massive pile of governmental work, such as numerous trivial matters from all over the country. At least, that’s what it all seemed like to Muria.
Such matters included disputes among aristocratic territories regarding shared resources, or occurrences of large-scale monster propagation in certain places, or even situations where someone in the city violated Kingdom laws and fled, thus requiring an issued national arrest warrant from Muria, and so forth.
These were all minor issues that did not receive much public attention. Muria preferred fighting in battles to dealing with these never-ending governmental affairs. Physical fights felt better.
However, she had no choice. As the adage went, ‘To wear the crown, one must bear its weight.’ Governing a Kingdom was never an easy task, and all the boring procedures involved the primary responsibilities. Although Muria was only a temporary Regent and her obligation was to stabilize the current state to await Remilia’s enthronement upon reaching the age of majority,
If she were to undertake something, she would do it properly. Govern bravely, thus all the more. At the very least, Muria knew that if she showed even the slightest negligence, many people would have to endure unbearable suffering as a result.
“Statements in these papers are insufficient when dealing with certain matters and it isn’t right to make conclusions rashly.” While reviewing documents, Muria also cross-referenced the relevant information presented by the intelligence system.
Then, Muria found it interesting that the testimonies about the same incident from the Scarlett Family-like intelligence organization and from noble officials differed tremendously.
“I should establish an intelligence system under my control.” Glancing at the mountain of documents on her desk, Muria furrowed her brows, “After all, I’m not human. Without accurate information, I would be nothing more than a blind and deaf person, and people might then take me for a fool.”
“Mels!” In an instant, thousands of thoughts raced through her mind, and Muria came up with an idea. She summoned her high-level Demon servant from Hell via the Contract, “Keep your energy concealed. If they detect you and kill you on the spot, I won’t interfere nor recognize it.”
“Understood.” The Abyss Refining Demon who had just answered Muria’s summon and came over from Hell immediately suppressed his energy and transformed into his preferred human form—a suave middle-aged gentleman.
However, the gentleman seemed a little shocked from detecting the intimidating Dragon Prestige emitted by the Ten Ancient Dragons present in the palace. The Metallic Dragon Clan has always clashed with malicious creatures like demons. If he were discovered, he believed that these existences would have no problem crushing him into nothingness.
“You don’t need to be this nervous. As long as you don’t brazenly parade around in front of them, they won’t bring you harm.”
“Master, who are they?”
“The Ancient Dragons, whom I’ve invited.” Muria simply explained to the high-level demon what had transpired while his eyes began to gleam, he sensed an opportunity.
“Master, what do you need me to do?”
“Recruit all the evil creatures hidden among humans and establish an intelligence system under my control.”
