Chapter 1381: Chapter 1358: The Well-Meaning Elders_2 Chapter 1381: Chapter 1358: The Well-Meaning Elders_2 “There is that possibility, albeit a small one. The World Tree grows by absorbing the world; to make it obey, one would first need to force it into submission through combat.”
Hmm, that tone… Muria immediately thought of something and thus chose to ask aloud, “Ancestor Shiyu, have you ever dealt with an entity similar to the Mother of All Things?”
“In the World Community where Elasia is located, there once was a World Tree. Its combat capabilities were not strong, but the minions that spawned from it were formidable, causing no small trouble for our Titan Tribe.”
“What happened to that tree in the end?”
“We cut it down.” Naturally and with a relaxed tone, as if an old farmer had chopped down a tree in his backyard to use as firewood.
“…” This reply rendered Muria silent, no longer knowing what to say. An entity that could even pressure the Titan Tribe was certainly not weak, but the outcome spoke for itself; the Titans were superior.
“And the World Tree on our island… could there be a possibility in the future?”
Muria had not anticipated that the World Tree could grow to traverse the Void and devour worlds. Upon learning of the World Tree’s potential, he immediately expressed some concern, though he also knew that such worry was as unnecessary as fearing the sky might fall.
“There’s no need to worry about that; that tree won’t grow big. What you see now is what it will look like in a hundred thousand years.”
“Could it be, Ancestor, that you…?” Muria suddenly had an indiscernible feeling.
“Yes, you may not know this, but I personally planted that tree.”
“Then the Elves on the island…”
“They were brought by a clansman. After all, Elves are better at planting and taking care of trees.”
“…” The words of the Shiyu Dominator instantly shattered Muria’s past speculations.
In his youth, he had thought the World Tree belonged to the Elves, who, fearing they couldn’t protect such a divine entity, had brought it to the Titans. In reality, the Elves were merely gardeners hired by the Titans to care for the World Tree; truly, it was a harsh reality.
Well, harsh might not be the right word. Caring for the World Tree was something the Elves likely enjoyed, as the very nature of the World Tree surpassed that of most Epics, potentially enhancing the potential of their entire race over prolonged contact.
The real tragedy was for the World Tree growing in the Titan Islands, forever stunted to retain its size, providing various materials for the young titans. However, this form allowed it to exist indefinitely.
“All right, regarding the Mother of All Things, as long as you are aware, it’s currently unrelated to you. I’ll be taking this Eternal Spirit you have just picked up.”
After communicating with Muria for a while, the Shiyu Dominator left a small sapling as compensation, taking the Eternal Spirit that Muria had just found.
“Father, is this a World Tree sapling?”
After the dominator left. Aeolus, who had been silent and dared not interrupt, came over and examined the small sapling, about the size of a palm, left by the Shiyu Dominator to Muria.
“Can we not dream so beautifully?” Muria rolled his eyes, “A World Tree sapling is not something even an ancestor Shiyu can simply produce and give away, let alone to me. This is just an ordinary Divine Tree sapling; if you like it, take it and grow it!”
“I don’t know how to take care of trees,” Aeolus unapologetically took the Divine Wood from his father’s hands.
“Haven’t I assigned some Elves to serve under you? Just leave it to them. Not only do they ask for no payment, but they will also be grateful to you.”
Muria promptly applied what he had learned and gave his son a piece of advice.
“Understood,” Aeolus said.
After determining such a win-win method of nurturing the tree, Aeolus’s attention shifted elsewhere. “Father, this ‘Mother of All Things,’ how should we deal with her? According to Ancestor Shiyu, her power seems formidable!”
“There’s nothing to do for now; haven’t you noticed? For a long time, there has been no information about the Epic Titan or the Dragon King. I guess they have all gone to trouble this ‘Mother of All Things,’ so it’s not our concern for the time being.”
“I see.”
“The only thing I can do is to enhance my combat power as much as possible in the shortest time.”
Muria sighed deeply, feeling an immense pressure looming over.
Currently active within the Test Boundary Interior are the Epic Titan and Dragon King, along with a handful of Blazing Sky Gods. Eventually, they would all leave, and then it would be up to him and Michaela to face everything.
Although according to the rules of the Titan Tribe, whether they leave or stay makes no difference, their mere presence provides a great boost to Muria’s courage.
As for the Dragon King and the Blazing Sky Gods, it goes without saying. Unlike the Titans, the Blazing Sky Gods are famously protective.
Muria knew that his Blazing Sky God grandfather, Arudiba, had already started gathering people to enhance Michaela’s power, aiming for a Powerful Divine Force.
“So Father, how long until you ascend to a Powerful Divine Force?”
“Soon, not far off. With the current rate of faith increase, I can achieve Powerful Divine Force within ten years. If I can expand my divine duties, this duration could even be shortened,” Muria replied after feeling his power, providing an ambiguous answer.
The position of a god of faith is entirely determined by the amount of power from his believers, which only reflects the level of recognition these World Creatures have for him. It is for this reason, a god of faith draws power from the World Origin, becoming a being who masters laws.
The power of a god of faith represents not only divine authority but also corresponding responsibilities. The larger their power, the greater their obligations.
This is why gods of faith can sometimes perform involuntary acts due to the world’s influence. Sometimes, if their essence is too weak before ascending and they remain as deities for too long, their divine duties can erode them inversely, losing their selves and becoming puppets of their divine duties.
This was precisely Muria’s fear, hence his rejection of the power of faith. By sealing divinity with his power, he would just be subject to some constraints. But by embracing the power of faith and enhancing his divine status with it, he would inevitably be affected.
If he couldn’t hold on, the Epic Muria would disappear, replaced entirely by a deity Muria existing solely for his divine duties. However, Muria now had no choice. Wanting to become the master of the world, to become a stronger being, faith was a trial he had to endure.
“I will try to speed up the pace of conquest without disrupting the rhythm.”
Hearing his father’s words and feeling a sense of crisis as well, Aeolus resolved to do everything he could to help his father become stronger; otherwise, if his father failed, he seemed likely to become an orphan.
“No rush, take it slowly; my pace of conquest is already fast.”
Muria had once fantasized about tender father-son moments. With a reassured heart, he played the role of a loving father well and then left the Floating City with a satisfied smile, returning to Xena Pus.
There, he saw six beings of different forms but emitting a very similar aura, and one of them was distinctly familiar. It was none other than the Blazing Sky God Arudiba, who had recently gone to find his kin and was now appearing publicly in the Reincarnated Body of the winged king.
“Grandfather, what is this about?”
Muria looked at the six beings who had concealed their identities and guessed the purpose of their visit, yet proceeded to ask according to protocol.
