Muria revealed a smile, and then took out a space crystal that he had prepared beforehand and tossed it to the tall Aeolus.

“Given your current strength, you cannot freely exhibit your powers here. You should use the materials inside to enhance the quality of your equipment.”

“?”

With a trace of expectation and full of caution, Aeolus delved his mental power into the space, only to see the divine materials that were probably casually shaped into a storage device by his father, filling it to the brim.

Pure white like jade, crystal-clear snake bones, snake scales as fine as Divine Gold, and snake tendons coiled into heaps, brimming with vibrant Life Essence… Even with the simplest forging methods, these materials could be refined into Divine Artifacts, all piled up like mountains.

And such a generous gift almost caused Aeolus to inadvertently reveal his true form. There was no other reason except that these items were from his father.

It was simply unbelievable; before he reached adulthood and learned of his true identity, the sophisticated weapons and equipment he received, although arranged by his father, were always obtained through rigorous trials.

And now, his father was throwing materials at him that could elevate the quality of the weapons and equipment on his person. What did that mean? Was he trying to kill him?

“Don’t be nervous. You are already so grown, and I can’t construct a maze that matches your current strength, so you can rest assured.” Seeing the instinctual reaction from his son in that moment, Muria was somewhat speechless while also feeling a slight twinge of guilt.

“Consider this a payment for the battles you fight for me in advance! If you really feel uneasy holding on to them, then lead the Legion to conquer more territories for me!”

“I understand.”

With that said by Muria, Aeolus’s caution relaxed significantly. It made sense; under such circumstances, his father hardly had the time to bother with him.

However, what was this about conquest? Why was his father still stirring up wars in a different world?

“By the way, father, there are some things I’m not clear about. I heard from others before that you and mother have become gods, and I was somewhat skeptical, but now that I’ve seen it with my own eyes, can you tell me why you did this?”

“Um, the reason is actually quite simple…”

Thus, Muria explained the audacious plan as the Master of the World to his son, a plan so brazen that it left his son completely dumbstruck, followed by a long silence, eventually leading him to utter a complexly emotional exclamation,

“True to my father.”

“Divine Foe!”

In a floating city slowly moving through the sky, Aeolus, who was commanding the Legion allocated to him by Muria, stood in the main hall of the city ruler, deep in thought.

After his conversation with his father, he realized just how dire his seemingly glorious father’s situation was.

It was like walking a tightrope over an abyss–one misstep and he would fall into the Endless Abyss, never to recover.

Though, being an Epic, he could avoid all this and remain an observer. However, such a selfish option had never crossed his mind. After understanding his own situation, Aeolus decided to do his utmost to help his father.

He had even considered becoming a god to unlock all his combat power, but Muria had threatened to seal him, forcing Aeolus to reluctantly give up.

Yet even so, Aeolus planned to exert his full effort to help his father achieve what could be described as a delusional goal.

“I am still too weak. When my father needs me, I can only do trivial things.”

The Hybrid, possessing the bloodline of three races, lamented. He liked to attribute faults to himself and used it as motivation to advance and pursue higher levels of power.

“Now, I will do everything I can to help my father complete the conquest and ascend as a Powerful Divine Force.”

A vast mental power swept through the entire Floating City, and Aeolus saw the composition of the Legion his father had assigned to him: Giant Dragons, Angels, Giants, Battle Beasts, and various other strange and powerful creatures… To some extent, this could be considered a ragtag army.

After all, there was no other choice. Muria had almost sent out all his forces, so this Legion was partly formed by calling back some from various Domains for Aeolus.

Though the number of races making up the Legion could classify it as ragtag, measuring by the average strength of each individual, it could be considered an elite Legion. If you also counted the commanding officer, it was definitely an ace army.

Coordinating such a multi-racial army, merely handling the conflicts between the different races and getting them to follow orders, was an exceedingly difficult issue. However, if there was a highly noble commander who could suppress everyone, everything would be different.

All disadvantages of a multi-racial Legion could be transformed into advantages; such a Legion could adapt to all kinds of terrain and situations and devise a variety of tactics.

The immense and majestic city floated in the sky, and the creatures on the ground only needed to look up to see this incredible creation, arousing awe.

“Annie, stop looking up at Demon City in the sky, or the Demon King above might suck away your soul.”

From a rugged hillock, a rebuke in a hushed voice sounded, then a pair of lean and powerful hands pulled a girl, curious and sticking her head out from the ground, back into an underground cave to hide.

“Father, you’re the only one who would believe such an unreliable rumor. How could such a gigantic creation have the power to suck away souls? If it really did, we wouldn’t need to resist.”

“What are you discussing?” A soft voice echoed in the dim cave, followed by a low cheer.

“Brother Roger, have you come back? Did you bring back something delicious?”

“Always thinking about food, please don’t bother Roger over such matters.”

“Right, Roger, hurry and tell us, how are things outside? Has the Demon King’s army’s assault been stopped by the allied forces? When can we go back to the surface?”

“Exactly, I’ve had enough of living like Ground Mice.”

“…” The young man, having returned with perceived hope and tasked with gathering information, fell into silence; he truly didn’t know how to convey the news to his fellow villagers.

“Is the situation that bad?”

“Mhmm.”

“Go ahead and say it; we were mentally prepared for this already. We’re not as fragile as you think.”

“Every place that could be scouted has been occupied, no resistance has lasted longer than three days.”

As the young man quietly recounted this, the atmosphere in the cave became even more oppressive.

“It’s an undeniable fact that the army of the Demon King has swept across our world unimpeded; there’s no force that can stop them.”

“What do we do then? Are we supposed to hide here forever?” someone asked unwillingly.

“Actually, we could leave here and go back to the surface, as long as we are willing to submit to the rule of the Demon King’s army. Everything would return to how it was before.”

“What are you saying, Roger? Submit to the Demon King? Are you joking? What was the point of everything we’ve done so far? Are you kidding?”

“You didn’t betray us, did you?”

“No, I haven’t. I just want everyone to survive. You know, there are many others hiding just like us, but now they have all returned home. I’ve seen it with my own eyes—they go about their lives in the city, undergoing inspections by the Demon King’s army…” The young Roger passionately recounted everything he had witnessed.
