Chapter 1307: Chapter 1292: The Flattened Seventh Layer of the Abyss Chapter 1307: Chapter 1292: The Flattened Seventh Layer of the Abyss “Hephaestus, I’ve troubled you this time around. Although I’d love to promise to visit and chat more often when I have the time, the chances are, it will be quite a while before I can.”
In the Void Forging Palace, next to the now tranquil Eternal Flame, Muria, whose reserves were nearly emptied, took out all the collectibles that could be of use and thanked the spirit.
“What trouble? It’s my duty. I’m glad to help you. But what do you mean by your latter statement? It sounds like you’re about to be sealed away or something.”
The spirit of the void, formed from pure energy, showed a puzzled face. Muria’s words sounded off as if he was about to fall into misfortune.
“It’s not a sealing, but it’s not much different. I’m entering voluntarily. If I can successfully break free, my strength will leap across several levels. If I fail, it would only mean a loss of freedom, which isn’t too bad either,” Muria explained.
“I see.” Upon hearing Muria’s words, the well-informed spirit of the void nodded thoughtfully and then asked no more.
“Where do you plan to go now?”
“I’m preparing to return to Elasia. But before that, I’d like to find a place to test the power of these new equipments. Do you have any recommendations?”
“The Abyss!” Upon Muria’s inquiry, Hephaestus replied without hesitation. A place where an epic can uninhibitedly test his new equipments naturally refers to the Abyss, made from who knows how many layers of World Remains.
“Hmm, excellent choice!” Muria’s eyes lit up at the recommendation of the spirit of the void. With his current background and strength, as long as he doesn’t act recklessly, he can stir up trouble anywhere deep in the Abyss.
…
Under the dim, dusky sky, the murky wind blew, and on the parched, yellowed ground, lava rivers ran like wounds on the earth, their seething heat bringing a glimmer of light to this perpetually dark domain.
At the edge of a lava river, a battle for survival raged, with two demonic factions fighting to the death over the right to live and control a section of the river.
One faction was mainly made up of lower-tier demons such as Cowardly Demons, Quasit Demons, and Berserk Demons, whereas the other consisted of giants with yellow and black-scaled armor, resembling demonic lizardmen.
Corroded by the Abyss, these demonized lizardmen possessed stronger bodies and more ferocious temperaments than their kind in the Material World, fighting fiercely and without fear of death.
The reason these were identifiable as two warring demon factions was purely because the demonized lizardmen’s battles seemed to follow some form of strategy, unlike the chaotic demons.
Without such distinct external features, no one would know how many demon factions were fighting, as demons are known for the absurd practice of attacking their own during battle.
Because of the demons’ absurd and chaotic nature, they are doomed to insignificant achievements. It is for this reason that the Abyss is viewed by some powerful entities as but a pesky nuisance.
Hence, at that moment, someone had set his sights on this particular layer of the Abyss, ready to test his newly-acquired equipment and assess its actual effects.
This small-scale encounter at the riverside of magma was fully witnessed by him. In fact, it was not just this small area. In his eyes, the scene encompassed the entire layer of the Abyss, down to every demon living upon it.
The shape, strength, constitution, and weapons used by every demon surfaced in his consciousness. As he uncovered more of the region, the flood of information grew, forming a torrent that could overwhelm the spirit of mortal things.
Facing this assault of information, this being quickly adapted with his robust life level after initial discomfort, then began to process it with ease.
Thus, a vision of the Abyssal layer, constructed purely of data, emerged quietly in his consciousness, almost perfectly synchronized with the actual Abyss.
“What a wonderful feeling,” Muria uttered, truly marveling at the remarkable vision brought by the newly refined Luo Tian Mirror.
With his current level, he could naturally sweep this layer of the Abyss with fierce mental power and forcibly obtain the information he wanted, but compared to the freshly completed Luo Tian Mirror, such methods of exploration were far too barbaric.
The information obtained through the Luo Tian Mirror was not only meticulously detailed but also exceptionally clandestine; unless one were a powerful being with jealousy in their senses, they’d barely notice having been scrutinized.
“Such equipment is precisely what I need, offering me far greater help than divine weapons focused solely on destruction and killing. My thoughts were correct.”
Muria affirmed his approach of reforging his divine weapon, feeling even more eager, “It’s time to test the effect of the second item.”
Over the small conflict at the riverside of magma, the gloomy sky cracked, and then, a Titan with a Divine Wheel suspended behind him stepped out.
With this peculiarly-looking Titan at the center, every demon, whether sleeping, hunting, or engaged in battle, stopped their actions and started to flee for their lives.
All the demons who could see Muria still had the audacity to flee solely because Muria had not yet released the full might of his epic presence.
“Fixed Star Beads!”
Watching these demons scurrying for their lives, Muria’s emotions remained unshaken. With one hand behind his back and the other held aloft, thirty-three golden-jade-like beads emerged in his palm. While emitting a faint glow, they followed a fixed trajectory, flying up and down, like celestial bodies in motion.
“Go!”
Muria flicked his wrist, and the thirty-three Fixed Star Beads left his palm, shooting in all directions around him. As soon as they left his hand, the beads swelled up against the wind.
Consequently, everything within the boundary marked by the rapidly moving Fixed Star Beads, centered around where Muria stood, became immobilized, as though time itself had stopped.
“Not bad!”
Muria was somewhat pleased to see this particular set of treasures displaying part of their power, but he wasn’t satisfied yet. The hand that had just thrown the Fixed Star Beads suddenly clenched tightly.
Then, the thirty-three spirit beads, previously glowing with golden light, swiftly converged their radiance into darkness, turning into black holes with an intense suction force. This power only affected the living demons, while inanimate objects remained untouched.
Through the vision provided by the Luo Tian Mirror, Muria could see that the demons living in this layer of the Abyss were all being drawn by the Fixed Star Beads. No matter what they did, they couldn’t resist this force; it was all in vain.
Even if they possessed powerful divine artifacts, those artifacts required a wielder to unlock their full potential. With Muria’s current strength, if these demons drawn by the Fixed Star Beads managed to break free, it would be a complete farce.
Click! Splurch!
Muria was aware of the sounds of bones being crushed into powder and flesh being ground up. In this layer of the Abyss, the demons caught by the Fixed Star Beads were slowly pulled apart and crushed as they drew nearer to the beads, eventually turning into muddied blood and flesh.
This was an extremely cruel process, but Muria felt no pity. It was a joke to talk about mercy or righteousness with the demons of the Abyss. In the Abyss, apart from a few anomalies, every demon could be killed without error.
Finally, the remnants left behind after the demons were obliterated were all collected by the Fixed Star Beads. Therefore, from the outside, it looked as if thirty-three black holes had suddenly appeared in this layer of the Abyss, endlessly consuming all demons.
This anomaly immediately alarmed the demon lord of this layer of the Abyss. Initially somewhat rational, it grew incensed and lost its sanity as it sensed the number of demons under its control in this layer of the Abyss dwindling.
“Who? Who is plundering my servants?”
A furious roar came from atop a jagged cliff, from a structure that could barely be called a castle. Along with the roar, this crude but sizable building was instantly reduced to rubble by a surge of demonic energy.
In the midst of the remaining half-destroyed structure, a towering, human-like lizard with black and red scales appeared—it was the ruler of this layer of the Abyss, the Lizardmen Lord of the Seventh Layer.
As it roared, one after another, muscular and shiny-scaled lizardmen converged from all directions around the cliff. Sensing their lord’s rage, they too let out furious roars.
“Come out, you despicable thing, I know you’re watching this! Come and face me in battle.”
Whoosh———
The howling of the wind, as it was forced apart by the Lizardmen Lord’s roar, materialized. Then, this sound grew louder in the lord’s perception until a square Seal appeared in its sight.
Bang!
The square Seal, with ancient runes faintly visible on its surface, replaced the Lizardmen Lord and the cliff beneath it, abruptly appearing on the ground of this layer of the Abyss.
With its advent, the ground shook violently, and numerous natural disasters occurred in this already unstable layer of the Abyss. But the impact was minimal, as most of the demons were nearly exterminated.
However, the lord controlling this layer of the Abyss hadn’t been crushed to death. Deep and furious roars echoed from under the Seal, and the immense, towering Seal was jolted by it.
“Not dead?”
A slightly disappointed voice rose in the wind, followed by a hand descending from the Sky Dome to grab the Seal, smashing it down hard again, and then grinding it.
