King of Titans and Dragons
Chapter 1297 - 1297 1283 Dilemma

Chapter 1297: Chapter 1283: Dilemma Chapter 1297: Chapter 1283: Dilemma “Not interested!”

Before the being in close proximity could finish speaking, Muria had swiftly pulled out his battle axe and struck backward,

but

Boom!

Before Muria’s battle axe could hit its target, the sound of something hard exploding rang out. Metal fragments, mixed with blood, were flung into the sky. Then, a headless body, flapping dragon wings that grew from its back, transformed into a golden rainbow and flew tens of thousands of kilometers.

Unfortunately, a gray shadow was already chasing the golden rainbow, closely and relentlessly. They intertwined and clashed in the void, each contact spreading clear ripples of power, shaking spacetime.

However, after a brief standoff, the golden rainbow always managed to slash out with a sword glow during an opening, forcing the parasitic gray shadow back and gaining a brief respite.

“Rebirth!”

The Titan body, compelled to unfold its dragon wings, had its torn flesh and blood surge as if forging bones of gold and jade. An imposing and ancient Titan head regenerated, but unlike typical Titans, antlers typical of the Dragon King grew at the sides of his hair.

His eyes, still as radiant as the morning sun’s dazzling golden eyes, closely watched the identical gray shadow that he just confirmed to be the Insect Race through their recent tangle.

Yet, what troubled Muria was that this Insect Race, having already self-destructed during their battle at the cost of body, had once shattered his Titan body, forcing him to use some of his vital essence to reconstitute himself.

Not long after, the Insect reappeared before him, ready to start over. This level of persistence shouldn’t surprise him; epic battles, after all, were between beings akin to deities, erasing each other’s immortality until one lost the ability to regenerate and revive, leading to defeat.

However, compared to a true epic, this Insect Race in front of him was an extremely inferior and flawed variant—it lacked the terrifying immortality of an epic. Moreover, its remnants were still floating around after it exploded.

The peculiarity at hand indicated that the Insect had regenerated in a short time, completely abandoning its previous body, treating its bodies as single-use consumables.

“There must be some restrictions,” Muria quietly pondered, “like sealing it to take away its ability to self-destruct. Then it won’t be able to regenerate.”

This should be an effective method, exemplified by a successful case. An Insect with epic combat ability under the Dream Palace Empress had been defeated, not killed, but sealed and studied by an exceedingly fearsome entity.

Because its body wasn’t utterly destroyed, letting the Insect Race Empress of the Dream Palace lose her strongest combat force in a short amount of time led to such a tragic outcome.

“Also, the resources required for each regeneration are another vital restraint, but that just depends on each individual’s accumulated base, which doesn’t really differ much.”

With thoughts swiftly passing by, Muria roughly understood what he had been battling just now: a weapon that could be recreated by consuming certain resources even if destroyed, though such weapons were unique and could not exist simultaneously in duplicates.

But now was not the time to worry about this, Muria looked up at the being that had just shattered his skull, an entity very similar to the Dream Palace Empress he had just thrashed, but unlike the Empress, she appeared directly without relying on an Insect Nest.

“These two, one of them must be an anomaly among the Insect Race Empress,” Muria glanced at the Insect Nest beside him which was now devoid of any movement, confirming that this empress, possessing a regal body but only a bronze consciousness, had no intention of attacking him, and he thus dismissed her.

“Nice, quite good at dodging, adept at battle! But too bad, you refused me.”

When Muria looked over, that being also cast her gaze upon him; indeed, her eyes had always been fixed on him since compared to the two Dragon Kings, she could tell Muria was more proficient in combat, and more aligned with her tastes and needs.

And Muria’s rejection was expected; she had merely inquired casually, not really expecting to succeed, as each master was an extremely prideful being, unlikely to casually bow to another.

“But no matter, killing you, I can also rely on your remnants to create a new war general. Although it will be lesser, it could still just about suffice.”

The completely different empress from Dream Palace assessed Muria, and such a gaze immensely irritated him, for it was like a hunter eyeing a trapped beast, making Muria feel as though he was merely prey in the eyes of another.

And in fact, Muria did not believe he faced even the slightest risk of falling, although whether it was this newly reborn Insect Race or this suddenly appearing Insect Race Empress aiming to kill him, each was more troublesome than the last, but he could hold on.

Muria still had the strength to parry, and although he looked in disarray, even the combined efforts of the two beings could not kill him in a short time, which gave him a buffer to wait.

“What are you thinking? Master of battle, do you think you can hold us off with your own strength and then wait for reinforcements? Rest assured, I won’t give you that chance.”

The Insect Queen Candice scrutinized Muria, and as Muria’s gaze became increasingly solemn, the queen spread her arms, ripples of spacetime turbulence emerged behind her, and then they expanded continuously until a stably expanding spacetime vortex appeared.

While already engaged with the armored insects of the Insect Race, Muria was distracted when an Insect Nest Planet, far larger than the Dream Palace Empress’s, appeared, and this planet’s surface was crawling with a dense, skin-crawling mass of insects.

This massive planet, revealing only a part of itself through the spacetime vortex, had insects on its surface that were already stirring and suddenly burst forth like a flood breaking through a dam.

These insects, whose individual combat strength was not inferior to the Battle Beasts created by Muria’s grandfather, divided into two groups under the queen’s will—one charging towards Muria, while the other headed towards the two Dragon Kings who were about to annihilate his subordinate insects.

Even Muria could not help frowning at such a scale of insects, for their quantity was too great, and their quality was not something the ones under the Dream Palace Empress could match—the queen’s insect legions were simply not on the same level.

Squawk!

A clear, melodious, and distant cry echoed in the Void, as a pure white phoenix, accompanied by gentle winds, flashed through the dark Void and unhesitatingly charged into the approaching tide of insects.

The Wind King Hawk, having freed itself from the world’s restrictions and attained freedom, no longer possessed the World’s Favor as a descendant of the Legendary Beasts. Nevertheless, it still possessed the power of the Legendary Peak and could at any moment achieve Epics or even ascend to the Divine Throne.

However, even such a creature, considered elite in the grand world, still appeared insufficient on the battlefield where two Epics clashed.

Fortunately, the Wind King Hawk hadn’t reached the Epic level, so even though its lone efforts slightly stemmed the fierce charge from the Insect Nest, it only merited a slight glance from the Insect Queen, without arousing any desire from her to intervene.

The pride of Epics prevented the queen from bullying the lesser, and considering action against a Legend was completely out of her consideration, even though this Legendary Creature displayed extremely impressive combat abilities.

However, Muria did not let the Wind King Hawk fight alone for long. He released all his reserved minions, summoned the Subordinate Army that had been attacking the Dream Palace Empress’s Mother Nest, and together they faced the Insect Nest.

It was a brutal battle, both for Muria himself and for his Subordinate Army.

But at this moment, even though Muria’s heart ached, he could not afford to care for his Subordinate Army.

And his army had to demonstrate the effectiveness of Muria’s training at this very moment, to block the nearly boundless tide of insects and prevent his already dire situation from worsening.

The Giant Dragons at the top of the food chain, facing a number of insects hundreds or thousands times their own, could not help but emit angry and helpless shrieks, then fell bleeding to the earth.

The Titans also roared and formed battalions to counter the onslaught of the Insect Nest, realizing that the best help they could provide for their ruler was to block these insects.

“Damn it!”

Muria felt his heart twitching; these Subordinate Armies were his savings accumulated over a millennium, and though they were meant to cope with such a situation, watching them perish in clash against a swarm of insects still agonizingly pained him.

But even if he was furious now, it was just impotent rage, completely useless; the only thing he could do was to slay the insect before him.

“I can do this.”

Muria muttered softly to himself, aware of his own condition; he knew he had more powerful combat abilities that he could access. By chance, he had devoured an exuvium of a being of his rank and fused with a fragmented world’s alien Epic.

Through these shortcuts, he could totally touch the power of the second realm of Epics, the Pseudo-realm; with each movement, he could have the world’s power fortify himself, a force capable of crushing any material, including the insect before him.

Clad in broken Armor, the Hybrid Titan held a Battle Halberd. Behind him, a vibrant world made its phantom appearance, and the power of World Rules descended into the silent Void…
