Chapter 1152 - 1152 1139 Cant Beat Them but Can Outlast Them
Chapter 1152: Chapter 1139: Can’t Beat Them, but Can Outlast Them Chapter 1152: Chapter 1139: Can’t Beat Them, but Can Outlast Them In the Void, ugly and fierce remnants of broken corpses floated everywhere, with even clusters forming small, island-like heaps of bodies.
Thorned Evil God looked around at his Subordinate Army, which had shrunk by nearly one-third since the battle began. To say he felt no pain would be a lie; it wasn’t easy for him to have nurtured so many minions.
He had retained the Desolate Evil God and didn’t feel any pain about that; he even felt it was particularly worthwhile. But the problem was that the latter was too desperate and had slipped away.
“You can’t escape.”
The whisper of the Evil God echoed in the Void as he lifted a tentacle that had just attacked and hit the Desolate Evil God, then stared at the golden arcs jumping upon it.
He could feel the domineering nature contained within this faint force, as the limb that came into contact with the power was constantly being destroyed by it.
But since the power was so weak, the life force it eroded wasn’t as fast as his regeneration; thus, his tentacle appeared unchanged.
However, this did not mean that the Evil God underestimated the owner of this power. On the contrary, he held it in high regard, because it was this power’s owner that had his enemies fleeing in disgrace, presenting him with an opportunity for revenge.
“This power is truly unique; its owner must be of a different kind from me.”
This Evil God, enveloped in black mist with its shape unclear and many tentacles wriggling around its lower body, lingered in the Void, not rushing to pursue.
The formidable foe he was currently attacking could be another entity’s prey. If he were to pursue further, it would inevitably lead to a conflict, though uniting forces was also a possibility, albeit slim.
When he encountered the Desolate Evil God, he had seen the distinct Weapon embedded in its back. During their fight, he attempted to touch this Weapon but was attacked before he could reach it.
The golden arcs remaining on his tentacle came from this incident, showing that the owner of the Weapon was definitely incompatible with him, making a battle more likely than cooperation.
However, it was absolutely impossible for this to deter him from pursuing the Desolate Evil God. The benefits of killing a kindred being so compelled him to take the risk of engaging in a fight with another entity.
“At worst, I’ll just lose some more minions.”
The Thorned Evil God whispered, then he left a group of minions to clean up all the corpses on the battlefield—not out of environmental consciousness or to keep the Void tidy.
Instead, because these corpses were also a resource. Allowing the minions to devour them could regenerate more minions in a short time, achieving a secondary use and cycle, reducing his losses in this war.
After arranging these matters, the Thorned Evil God followed the sensation from the golden arcs on the tentacle and pursued further.
…
“Did this guy get driven mad by me?” the dark, sinister, and bizarrely eerie Evil God mused as he circled a world, apparently stunned by the situation in front of him.
He followed the connection between the Golden Lightning Arc and the Weapon embedded in the back of the Desolate Evil God to this world, then his presence was completely cut off outside this world.
This indicated that the enemy he pursued had indeed entered this world.
Since the Desolate Evil God was of the same kind as him, both destroyers who grew stronger through the destruction of worlds, he understood that they were beings resisted by any world, the only exception being their Mother World.
In other words, his enemy had fled back to its own Mother World. If his enemy’s Mother World were a vast world, he could understand such an action.
Being able to forcefully breach a large world with military might made the Desolate Evil God among the few in the Void, even for him, such beings existed only in legends.
Therefore, having a large world as a retreat plan, returning to the Mother World was a very wise choice. Conversely, if one’s Mother World were not a large world, running back to it after provoking enemies would be a rather foolish choice.
“Unexpectedly, you actually belong to that rarest group in the Void,” he said.
The Thorn Evil God sized up the world before him, which simply could not compare with large worlds in scale, yet within medium-sized worlds, it might be considered outstanding.
His kind were basically born in large worlds and then roamed the Void, wreaking havoc on medium and small worlds; however, nothing was absolute, and it wasn’t true that beings that transcended mortal peaks could only arise in large worlds.
Some, either through serendipitous circumstances or sheer luck, in those myriad worlds, also brought forth numerous disasters, the nightmares of all living creatures.
Regrettably, these beings didn’t have a sufficiently powerful Mother World supporting them; their Mother World was not an absolute safe zone for them, and the disasters they stirred up while wandering the Void, could likely spill over to their Mother World, leading to consequences they were unwilling to face.
“But you’ve made the most foolish, or rather, the most selfish choice,” he said grimly.
The Thorn Evil God chuckled low; he felt he had grasped his enemy’s vulnerability, even if he couldn’t kill the Desolate Evil God this time, he could still use this to threaten him.
No being would be indifferent towards their Mother World; it was the most basic instinctive attachment and dependency of life, especially for those cataclysmic beings, as the Mother World was the only place that would open everything to them, allowing them to observe the operation of the Laws.
Once the Mother World was destroyed, it also meant that their journey on the Path to Epic became increasingly difficult. Or rather said directly, the moment the Mother World was destroyed, their Path to Epic was severed.
“Foolish? Selfish? Hmph!”
The Desolate Evil God, who had entered his Mother World, heard the whisper beyond the world and snorted disdainfully; he simply couldn’t comprehend his recent ordeal.
Merely by corrupting an ordinary small world, he had encountered two heirs with terrifying backgrounds, and then during his flight, he bumped into a sworn enemy from his past grievances.
If he ran aimlessly next, the Desolate Evil God really didn’t want to imagine what else he might encounter; instead, it was better for him to hole up within his own Mother World.
After all, both the two heirs he had provoked and the Thorn Demon outside the world couldn’t possibly do anything to his Mother World.
As long as he stalled for enough time, even if the two heirs chased him there, in the event they couldn’t breach it, they would most likely leave, rather than directly call upon their elders.
Regarding the one lurking outside his Mother World, once he had healed his injuries, and reproduced his army using the minions he had left in the world, he wouldn’t fear him; if need be, with the support of his Mother World, he might even have the chance to kill the Thorn Evil God.
In short, the Desolate Demon’s current strategy was to survive in his Mother World, to wait out everything, whether thousands or tens of thousands of years, he could afford it as his life had enough depth to drag this out.
Radiant golden light intertwined and spread from the distant Void, then formed a magnificent and brilliant path of golden light, stretching above the world of the Desolate Evil God.
Walking along this path of golden light, two massive beings hand-in-hand came into view, and immediately set their sights on the mysterious entity peering at the Desolate Evil God’s world.
Its grotesque and terrifying appearance, coupled with the black mist that pervaded its exterior—a hallmark of world destroyers—allowed Muria to instantly confirm this being’s identity.
Then, without a hint of hesitation, Muria drew the Seven Sins Blade, and slashed at the Evil God overhead, while beside him, Michaela also drew her sword, and a scarlet sword light tore through the Void…
