Kill Me Protect Me, Mr. Bodyguard -
Chapter 88: Difficult Decision
Chapter 88: Difficult Decision
In the morning, Daren woke up as usual because Mike woke him up. The Alpha was shocked to see Daren with cuts on his temples and neck.
"What happened, young master? Why did you get hurt like this?" he asked with concern.
"Oh this is... It’s a long story. The point is that someone kidnapped me, but luckily Axel managed to find me quickly and we got hurt because of that," Daren replied then looked around his room.
"Is he still in his room?"
"I think so, does the wound still hurt?" asked Mike as he rubbed Daren’s head.
The man shook his young master’s head, saying that it didn’t really hurt anymore because Axel had gotten more cuts than him.
Not long after, the man they were talking about came in with a very flat face. He was acting like he always did, but there was something different about him.
"Axel! How are you, is it still so bad?" Daren got off the bed and walked over to his lover.
He stood on tiptoe to inspect the bruises on the Alpha’s face. However, just as his hand was about to reach for his face, Axel caught Daren’s wrist before he could touch it.
"I’m fine, you don’t have to go that far to check," he replied in a voice so cold.
"Really? That’s good then. How’s your body, does it still hurt?"
He just shook his head, as if he didn’t want to talk about it anymore. Daren felt confused by Axel’s attitude.
"What’s wrong? I told you that you don’t have to feel guilty about what happened yesterday. I’m fine," the blond man said, trying to convince Axel that he wasn’t mad at him.
However, Axel remained silent and said he didn’t feel that way. He just didn’t feel like talking about it anymore and it was better for Daren to keep his distance from him.
"What do you mean by that?" asked Daren who was somewhat surprised by Axel’s words.
"I shouldn’t involve my feelings in work. Especially someone like me together with you. So it’s better to go back to the way it was before, I’m just your bodyguard and you’re my young master," Axel replied firmly.
Daren’s eyes widened when he heard that, he couldn’t believe what Axel was telling him at that moment. He grabbed Axel by the collar of his leather jacket and pulled him close.
"What the hell was that?! What do you mean by saying that! You want us to break up, is that it?! Is it all because of yesterday?!" he asked irritably and felt so disappointed with Axel’s sudden decision.
The man didn’t answer him, he stared intently at Daren with his brown eyes. A look that was also so cold, that Daren hadn’t seen in a long time.
"You don’t need to know why I did it, the point is that everything needs to go back to the way it should be." He hold Daren’s hand that was on his collar, then released it. "I’m not taking any questions from you. It’s better not to cross your boundaries with me."
"I won’t! We’ve come this far, and then you just want to cut things off?!" snapped an unhappy Daren.
He even tried to punch Axel in the face out of annoyance, but the man caught his hand before it could hit his face.
"This is my decision, and I’m not going to change it at all. I don’t care how you feel. Everything I did to you was just to get back at you for all the crap you did."
"What?"
He smirked, "You’re always pulling pranks on me. Isn’t this one of the best pranks I’ve ever pulled on you?"
"You... Don’t really love me?" asked Daren in a trembling voice.
Tears welling up in his eyes, he looked down while clenching his hands into fists.
Witnessing that, Mike who was still there tried to talk to them.
"Mr. Axel, I’m sure you didn’t mean what you said, right? Don’t joke around like that with Young Master. You could hurt his feelings," he said softly, walking over to the Alpha.
Axel’s eyes moved to Mike who had his arm around Daren. He firmly replied that he wasn’t joking.
"I think I’ve had enough of this game, so I’m going to stop and things will go back to normal again," he explained and then turned to leave Daren’s room.
"You have no plans today and you’re hurting, aren’t you? Stay in your room or I’ll tie you up if you try to leave without me knowing."
He left, leaving Daren rooted to the spot with tears in his eyes. Crying silently, with his head bowed.
Mike immediately hugged Daren and tried to calm him down.
"Don’t cry... Please don’t cry..." he whispered pleadingly.
’I can’t bear to see you have to cry like this.’
Axel entered his room with a feeling of indecision and confusion. He had just made Daren hate him, and he felt this was the best way.
Last night Axel met with his client, they talked about the client finally giving his final decision.
It took Axel by surprise because he never thought that day would actually come. Making him really have to choose between killing Daren or saving him.
As an agent who has been assigned the task, of course Axel must do it. He had to kill Daren to finish everything.
But as a mate, of course Axel couldn’t kill his own Omega. He couldn’t, not even to get Daren hurt because of him.
But...
"I want Daren dead within 48 hours. I don’t need him anymore, I want to witness his death too. So make sure you kill him right in front of me," said the client who asked Axel to kill Daren in two days right in front of him.
Axel initially intended to hide Daren somewhere, so that the Omega wouldn’t have to face his death. But his client wanted to see the man’s death firsthand. Leaving Axel with no other choice.
His eyes closed, his head ached at the thought of it all. He would lose Daren in 48 hours, he had to eliminate his Omega in such a short time, in a betrayal that Daren would feel.
"I believe in you, Axel!"
The words played in his head, over and over again, followed by a smile and a look of sincerity in his eyes. But he had to lose it in a moment.
"I just got him involved in my problems, got him hurt because of my own work. And now in 48 hours I have to get rid of him when he trusts me the most," he said with annoyance.
His hands clenched into fists so tightly that his knuckles turned white. Axel had never felt such a great conflict within himself, between his heart and mind.
His mind is only occupied with completing tasks, while his heart, which has never been involved before, trying force his mind to rethink his decision.
He opened his eyes again, staring up at the ceiling of the room. It would all be over soon, that was his wish from the start, to return to base for a new assignment.
Deliberately saying bad things to his own Omega, so that Daren would feel less pain when Axel had to kill him.
But is that what he wants right now?
"If I leave without completing this task, he’ll still die."
