Chapter 62: Something That Should Not Be Involved

Chapter 62: Something That Should Not Be Involved

Wilfred, Axel’s coworker, placed an old-fashioned cell phone on the table in front of them. A cell phone that could only reply to messages and receive calls was picked up by Axel.

"Your client wants to meet you in person, he wants to discuss something important about his next plan directly with you," he said relaying a message from their boss.

With the cell phone, Axel and his client would communicate with each other to choose their meeting place. The cell phone was only connected to the same cell phone given to the client and had a tracking device on it.

"My client wants to see me in person?"

"Yes, I think your mission will be completed soon. Isn’t this great? That way you can get back to the base like you always wanted!" said his friend with a happy face.

Axel had always wanted to finish the mission as soon as possible, so that he could rest for a while at the base before continuing with another mission. But for some reason his face looked very flat, staring at the cell phone in his hand.

"But it’s unusual for a client to want to meet directly with an agent, the conversation must be very important. Maybe a way to kill that Omega with something unforgettable?"

Hearing the words ’Kill that Omega’ made Axel flinch, realizing his mission was to kill Daren.

If his client wanted to talk about something important, that meant it would soon be time to kill Daren?

"Why are you silent? Are you too happy to say a word? Or..."

Axel suddenly put the phone back on the table as if refusing to accept it. Of course it made Wilfred feel confused, what was wrong with him?

"Hey, why did you put the phone down again?"

"I... I can’t continue this mission," Axel said in a voice full of doubt.

Axel had never had any doubts in his life. He could always make the right and unanimous decision. He never thought about anything else as long as the mission was completed successfully, even if it used methods that were beyond human empathy.

"What’s wrong, Vic? Why did you suddenly change your mind? Did something happen?" asked Wilfred with concern.

"No, it’s... It’s not something bad. It’s just..."

The man looked into the eyes of Axel who seemed to avert his gaze as if he was avoiding the conversation. He didn’t want to say the reason for him giving up the mission.

He knew that Axel had been on a lot of missions, even since he joined the agency at the age of 17. But only this time did he see something different in the cold-blooded Alpha’s eyes.

"Don’t tell me you love that Omega. Vic, did you involve your feelings in this mission?!" he asked in surprise.

"I was caught off guard, Wil. I was too stupid to fall for my own game," Axel replied and downed the whiskey in his hand.

"What’s going on? How can someone like you be caught off guard just because an Omega annoying like him?"

Axel was silent for a moment as he poured more whiskey into his glass. "I saw myself in him. Trying to live up to the expectations that someone would put on us. But no matter how hard we tried, the result would be the same. That person was never satisfied and even continued to treat us in a torturous manner."

"Unconsciously, I began to place my attention on him. Hoping that he would have a better life than me and not feel anything worse. But I got caught up in it," Axel continued.

Axel, who initially hated Daren, slowly began to melt to him. The Omega’s nature that slowly also no longer bothered him, made the Alpha interested in him after he learned many things about him.

Every day, as the days went by, Axel seemed to be drawn to know more about Daren. Until finally he realized, there was no way to escape. There was only a wall between him and Daren.

He wanted to cross that wall to be able to have the man, but he realized, if he crossed it he only had the option to kill him instead of having him.

"I tried to think of him as a target to kill, a target to eliminate someday. However, the more I thought about it the more it felt like I was running away from the fact that I liked that Omega," he explained while squeezing his own bangs.

"It’s really sad that I ruined my good reputation as agent number 1 just because of this stupid feeling." Axel laughed with a laugh that sounded sad to see himself trapped in feelings that he had only felt for the first time.

And that feeling made him unable to stop and want to keep feeling it. Over and over again, more than anyone could ever know.

His feelings were torn between choosing to finish his work or his feelings for Daren.

Seeing how his new friend felt so confused about his own decision made Wilfred feel confused too. He didn’t know what to do to help him.

"Hey, if you don’t do it, the boss could get very angry and you’ll be penalized. Are you sure you’re going to let that happen? You’ve always done well on missions so far, Vic. Are you sure you’re going to give up?" Wilfred asked.

"I don’t know, I’m still thinking about this first."

"Listen to me, even if you can’t complete this mission. The client will hire another agent capable of killing the Omega. You will also be monitored not to see him again," explained his friend.

Of course Axel knew all that, but he still couldn’t decide what he was going to do afterwards. Wilfred took the old cell phone and placed it in Axel’s hand.

"Then keep meeting your client and ask him why he wants that Omega dead. Maybe you can persuade him to forget his goal by talking to him," Wilfred said again convincing Axel to choose the right decision.

"Maybe you’re right, I’ll try to meet the client and find out more about his reasons for wanting to eliminate Daren," Axel replied and then saving the special cellphone.

A few days later, Axel decided to go see the client who had given him the task of eliminating Daren. Since Axel couldn’t go out during the day, they met at night after Daren had gone to sleep at a 24-hour cafe.

As he sat waiting for his client to arrive, he looked at the old cell phone in his hand.

"Getting him to forget about eliminating Daren, I doubt he’ll take it," Axel muttered and drank his coffee.

Not long after, a man walked up to him. He then stood next to Axel and spoke to him.

"Am I late? I don’t usually leave this late, but since you can’t leave during the day, I can understand," the man said and sat in front of Axel.

The Alpha’s eyes widened in shock at the sight of his current client.

"You..."
