Chapter 59: I Know Your Secret

In the end they returned to Zondalia after the vacation time was over. Daren chose to sit with Ivan because Barney had gone home two days earlier.

As for Axel, he chose to sit in the regular cabin instead of being with Daren. He let it go and tried not to think too much about it.

Even after their return, Daren’s demeanor changed slightly to become rather quiet.

Mike who saw the change in Daren’s attitude felt confused, what was wrong with his young master?

"Young master, do you need anything?" asked Mike worriedly.

"No, I’m fine. I just want to rest," Daren replied.

"Are you sure? If there’s anything, just tell me. I’m here for you, young master," said the butler again, trying to comfort the man.

Daren was silent for a moment, thinking about the answer he would give. But instead a question came out of his mouth.

"Hey Mike, if someone pretended to care about you, do you think you’d get mad at them?" he asked.

"Hmn? Pretend to care? I’d probably be mad at them because they’re just pretending. But at the same time I feel happy because I can finally feel that care," Mike replied.

Daren talked a bit about Axel not liking him but pretending to care about him.

Mike listened to his story and said that pretending has many reasons behind it. They can be good or bad. According to him, what Axel did could have been because he really cared and his angry reaction happened because Daren thought his concern was nothing.

"Mr. Axel must have a reason to care about you. Moreover, he is always around you, young master. He knows what you’ve been through so far," Mike said while holding Daren’s hand.

"I don’t really trust anyone in a short time, but Mr. Axel has been with you for more than a year. Are you going to take his word for what could have been a spontaneous answer?"

"How can it be said spontaneously? Especially to the point of calling me an annoying Omega," Daren pouted.

The ginger-haired man chuckled. "It can be when it comes to someone’s feelings, young master. For example with yourself, do you love Mr. Axel?"

"Huh?! No! Why would I love an annoying Alpha like him? He just thinks of me as someone weird!"

"See? You spontaneously replied that you don’t like him either. But your face says otherwise, young master..."

Daren looked puzzled at Mike, whereupon the butler said that Daren’s face actually looked flushed. Even while answering, he didn’t look at Mike and instead looked the other way.

"Do you really like him, young master?" the Alpha asked once again.

Daren’s eyes dropped, he didn’t want to admit that and didn’t want everyone to know, even though he had already told Ivan. But at the end he nodded his head, admitting that he had special feelings for the Alpha.

"But when I heard the recording from Ivan, I felt very sad. So all this time I was only seen as an annoying Omega to him?"

"I see... But what did Mr. Ivan do that for in the first place? Why would Mr. Ivan ask such a question all of a sudden and then be ready to record it?" asked Mike who was feeling a bit confused.

Mike’s question made Daren wonder, what did Ivan do it for? So that he could show it to himself?

"I didn’t think that far ahead of time. So it’s like he did it on purpose, right? He deliberately asked Axel that question just to show me?"

The butler nodded, but he also didn’t know what Ivan’s original intention was. But it seemed to be because Ivan saw that Axel and Daren were very close to each other.

"But it’s better for you to ask Mr. Ivan directly," he said.

Even so, the stubborn Daren felt that what Axel said was still unacceptable to him. The Alpha had called him an annoying Omega, so he couldn’t forgive him. Axel himself did not say anything in his own defense and remained silent.

On the other hand, Daren’s mother, Viona, feels that Daren’s change in attitude is because Barney continues to ignore his own son. She could think so, because Daren became moody after returning from Mocoado, the same country where her husband went on a business trip.

She felt sad and upset at the way her husband continued to treat his own son like a stranger, while outsiders were like his own son, Ivan.

Upset, Viona opened the door to her husband’s study and walked in.

"I told you to knock first before entering," Barney replied firmly but still sounded calm while looking at the documents in his hands.

"What else did you do this time? Can’t you just give Daren your attention for once?!" she asked irritably.

"What are you talking about? You suddenly walk into my office and yell about that boy?"

Her hands clenched into tight fists. "Daren is still your son, he’s been very sad since he returned from Mocoado. What did you do there to him to make him like that?"

"Nothing I did, it’s just that that boy is out of his mind. Why did he have to be born into this family..." Barney commented.

Viona’s eyes widened when she heard that comment. "What are you saying? You’re questioning that? Have you forgotten that Daren is the son you were proud of along with Aldrich! They’re both smart and intelligent sons of yours!"

The Omega woman felt upset every time she remembered how all the rights and privileges that Daren had always received were taken away from him after he was discovered to be an Omega when he was 14 years old.

At that time, Viona could do nothing but stay quiet and accompany Daren. Trying to get Daren to be a good boy and stay obedient so Barney wouldn’t throw him away.

But she was fed up with all that, seeing how Barney treated Daren, made Viona’s motherly soul unable to remain silent.

"You better improve your attitude towards Daren before you regret it!" threatened Viona as she pointed at Barney.

The man turned his head and stared intently at his wife. "You dare threaten me again?"

"You think I’m going to stand by and watch my son be bullied and suffer by his own father? Don’t forget Barney, I know your secret and I could leak it to the media with all the evidence I have!"

Barney stood up from his chair and walked over to Viona, trying to scare the Omega woman, but she tried to keep her nerve.

"What do you think the media will write as their headline? Barney Justin Wyne, the CEO of Marabella, turned out to be a fraud! Oh no.. A murder!" Viona said with a dismissive smile.

Hearing that, Barney grabbed Viona’s hair and told her not to mess with him.

However, Viona continued to resist. She was stubborn and also finally showed her true nature that had been passed down to Daren.

"What’s wrong? Are you afraid? Afraid that everyone will know that Marabella isn’t yours..."

"...but belongs to your late friend, Hendrick."
