Chapter 35: Nothing Better

Having dinner with the Alpha, the son of another wealthy family wasn’t Daren’s favorite moment in his life. He was tired of hearing all the Alpha’s remarks that tried to undermine the Omega’s position, especially his own.

That night Daren found someone he felt compatible with and made him even more curious about the Alpha. He asked the Alpha out on a second date.

However, everything changed after a sentence came out of his mouth.

"My mom said that Omegas shouldn’t work, they should stay at home. She said that I, the Alpha, would do the work," Samuel said.

Daren was somewhat surprised when he heard Samuel’s words. Not because his position as an Omega was underestimated anymore, but from how he said, "My mom said..."

"And my mom also said that Omega should just take care of the kids. My mom said..."

Every word he said now always began with the words, "My mother said..." which made Daren, and even Axel himself feel a bit strange hearing it.

The two of them were even thinking the same thing when they heard all of Alpha’s words in front of Daren right now.

"He’s..." whispered Axel who approached and stood behind his young master.

"Yes." Daren nodded.

’He’s a mama’s boy!’ they both thought.

There’s nothing wrong with being a mama’s boy or someone who is close to their mom. But Daren often sees people vent on social media about their partners who are mama’s boys.

All their lives are controlled by the man’s mother. They have to do whatever their mom wants them to do and what she forbids them to do, as if they don’t have their own opinions or decisions.

On the plus side, they do seem gentle and friendly.

’It will be very troublesome if I marry him. My life will be more and more controlled. I wouldn’t let my own parents do it, let alone someone else,’ Daren thought.

Seeing Daren’s silence made Samuel confused.

"What’s wrong, Daren? Is something wrong?" he asked.

"Mnnn... Well not really, it’s just that I just remembered that I had some sudden business. I have to find a present for my friend’s birthday tomorrow," replied Daren looking for an excuse to leave.

Normally he would just leave in a fit of rage, but this time he couldn’t because Samuel had been so nice to him all along.

"Really? Can I come too?" the man asked again.

"N-no, only friends are coming. We don’t usually bring partners or anyone outside our circle." Daren stood up from his chair and said goodbye to Samuel.

When he had already walked out of the room leaving the Alpha behind, he returned only to say, "About the second date, I will contact you when I have free time. I’m very busy with my filming," he said making excuses and then left again.

"Alright then."

The omega sighed as he got into the car, not expecting things to turn out like that.

"He’s so perfect though, he’s so kind and understanding. It’s a shame he doesn’t have his own decisions. I just feel sorry for him," he said.

"Yes, I admit he has his plus points. But he’s a mama’s boy, heh..." Axel teased as he turned the car around.

"Good thing there won’t be a second date. He’s really annoying," he muttered under his breath.

"What did you say?" asked Daren as he turned to his bodyguard.

For a moment Axel felt confused by what he himself had just said, he finally cleared his throat softly and reasoned that he hadn’t said anything earlier. Just mumbling about the car park being full.

"Really? Hmn... Alright then. Since it’s still half past ten at night, let’s go to the hill," the actor told his bodyguard.

The Alpha male then drove his car to the hill, which was now the place that Daren and himself relaxed.

Lying on the hood of the car, they watched the city in the distance. The lights were colorful, and even the stars were faintly visible from the top of the hill.

"I thought it would work this time, but it still turned out zonk. I knew there would be no one for me," Daren said as he looked up at the sky.

"You can’t find someone as perfect as you want. Something like that only exists in fantasy," Axel retorted.

"Ahahaha... You’re right. Then what about you, huh? You don’t have a mate yet, so your criteria must be very high."

"Not really, I don’t have any specific criteria. I just want an Omega who doesn’t demand anything from me and understands my work, that’s enough," the bodyguard replied.

Daren turned to him, "Understand that you only work as a bodyguard and rarely have free time?"

The man paused for a moment, thinking about the answer he would give, considering it wasn’t 100% true. But the part of him being very busy and rarely having free time, that was true. Axel was quite a workholic and he was too focused on his work without thinking about anything else.

"Maybe, I don’t want to do things that I don’t think are important. I also won’t forbid him or her from doing whatever they wants. If he can put up with my nature and my busy schedule, I think I’ll marry him right away."

"Hmnn... Yes, I won’t organize my future spouse’s time either. Everyone has their own interests, but there should definitely be time to be alone together," said Daren.

Axel nodded in agreement, even though he was busy, he would make time for relationships and time together.

Hearing that, Daren chuckled and said something.

"How about we get married then? I think I’ll fit right in with the way you work," he teased with a laugh.

Thinking Axel would also laugh at his joke, the man turned to Daren and looked at him. He found it even more ridiculous, but he found it interesting too.

However, he tried to keep a normal attitude.

"What a stupid offer, after all your family only wants an Alpha from a wealthy family like yours. Not an ordinary Alpha like me," he replied.

"Yeah, you’re right. Looks like I’ll have to socialize with them a lot. So I don’t need to marry the Alpha my parents showed me, I can find one with love."

"Love? You believe in such things?" asked Axel.

The blonde Omega nodded his eyes. "Yes, I believe love exists. It’s just that it’s hidden and not everyone can feel it. I want to be one of those who can feel the warmth of love," Daren explained as he closed his eyes.

He wanted to feel loving someone and being loved, Daren believed that it was something that made a person feel happy.

Because he was too comfortable on the hill, Daren always fell asleep. Axel intended to wake Daren up in 30 minutes and then they would go home.

His eyes continued to stare at the Omega next to him who was sleeping peacefully. He slowly repositioned himself towards him and gently brushed his blonde bangs.

’Sorry to disappoint you, rascal. But love is not real.’
