Chapter 30: Father’s Confidant

After the commotion, Daren and his father seemed to distance themselves from each other. Daren refused to have dinner with his parents, as did his mother. She chose to have dinner in her room rather than with her husband.

Knock knock

"Young master, we’ve come to bring you breakfast," said one of the money maids delivering dinner.

"Come in," Daren replied from inside his room.

The door opened, a few maids came in carrying the food for him and placed it on the table. Axel and Mike watched as the food arrived, including a dessert of Daren’s favorite lemon cake.

The man was ready at his table and looked at his food on the table and ate it after the servants left.

For three days Daren had chosen to eat in his room, he didn’t want to see his father and continued to avoid the man.

"Young master, how was your breakfast?" Mike asked so that Daren wouldn’t feel so lonely while eating his breakfast.

"Always good, I like today’s menu," he replied.

"Good then, how about lunch? Is there anything on the menu you’d like?"

Daren thought about it first, he wanted to take Ivan out for lunch. But he hadn’t had time to contact the man yet.

"I remember Mr. Ivan will be graduating from university soon, right? He’s finished his final project, he’ll be doing the graduation ceremony soon," Mike said.

The employer nodded his head, "He also invited me to join his celebration party later with his friends. So I’ll go with him," he replied.

"Alright then, the most important thing is to be careful. Make sure Mr. Axel stays with you."

"I’ll make sure to look after this troublemaker," Axel replied as he looked at Daren.

"As long as he doesn’t do anything stupid, because everyone will be partying. Having fun with each other."

"I’ll stay in the corner and watch, that’s all."

The Omega male was quite amused by the answer Axel gave him. He continued his breakfast until it was finished. He would continue his short movie acting practice after a short break since he would be doing filming the next day.

"Are you going to do the backyard rehearsal again?" Axel asked after Mike left to bring the dirty dishes.

"Yes, I need your help again because the other role is an enemy. And you’ve always been a good fit for the villain!" replied Daren who half-jokingly and half-seriously said that Axel was like a villain character.

Hearing Daren’s teasing, Axel didn’t react angrily or deny it like he usually did. Instead, he was silent with his eyes looking the other way.

Daren who realized it immediately felt confused, why Axel was not angry like usual?

"What’s wrong? Are you sick or tired?" the blond Omega asked his bodyguard.

The big man shook his head. "No, just thinking, do I really look like a villain? Sometimes villains are even more liked by many people," he replied looking for an excuse.

That wasn’t how he felt at that moment, but he couldn’t tell Daren the truth or it would be over. The hard work he had put in for months could fall apart.

"Hmn... Alright, let’s go to the backyard. I want to get some fresh air and Mike knows we’re going there anyway," he replied and they left the room on the third floor for the ground floor using the elevator.

As soon as the elevator opened, Daren suddenly saw his father with Ivan not far from them. Ivan was wearing a full suit, just like his father.

"Ivan, I’m so proud to have you in my company," Barney said as he patted Ivan on the shoulder with a smile that even Daren himself had never seen his father smile like that in front of him after Aldrich’s death.

"Thank you, Mr. Wyne. I’m glad to hear that, I’ll do my best not to let you down!" he said excitedly.

"Good good, then get ready. I’ll be waiting in the car."

Barney left, to Ivan’s surprise, turning towards the elevator and seeing Daren and Axel there.

"Daren!" he called with a smile on his face, as if he didn’t notice Daren’s sad face.

He walked over to Daren and gave the Omega a brief hug.

"Looks like someone has business with my dad now," Daren said, trying to sound normal.

Ivan chuckled. "Yes! Your father asked me to work for him in the company. He said he would give me an important position," the Beta Male replied.

"Really? What kind of position?"

"I don’t know, but I’m very happy that your father trusts me so much. I haven’t even gotten my university diploma yet and he’s already hired me!"

Hearing that, Daren tried to cover himself not to look ’jealous’. His father had trusted Ivan all along, but had never had the slightest faith in him. Even important positions in the company were given to him.

"Good for you, Ivan. So you’ll be busy now, huh? A job in the company, let alone an important position, will definitely take up a lot of time," said the son of the owner of a large company.

His good friend nodded his head, saying he knew that and it was no problem. He would work well so as not to disappoint Barney.

Axel, who had overheard their conversation earlier, felt rather upset and uncomfortable. Where was Barney so trusting of Ivan, even going so far as to give him an important position in the company, but he never trusted his own son?

’What kind of Alpha is he? Not trusting his own bloodline and trusting a Beta instead?’ he thought. ’No wonder Daren feels like a stepchild.’

He could see that Daren was hiding his disappointment as he chatted with Ivan. Ivan kept going on about how Barney wanted him to work for him, and so on.

It was then that he consciously put his arm around the Omega from behind, making both Daren and Ivan turn to him.

"It’s good to know you’ve been hired by Master, but you’d better leave quickly because he’s waiting for you. Daren will also be very busy memorizing the script, so it’s better not to talk about anything not important because it will disturb his mind," Axel said firmly cutting off Ivan’s words.

"Oh right, sorry about that Daren. I have to go then. See you later!" The Beta ran away to catch up with Daren’s father.

Daren gave a small wave and sighed softly.

Axel’s large hand ruffled Daren’s hair, making the Omega smile slightly.

"Let’s go train."
