Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die! -
Chapter 894 Warning
Chapter 894: Chapter 894 Warning
Although three carriages were lost, the movement of the train hadn’t been greatly affected. As the train continued calmly, other players in the carriages started to stir.
The player across from Xu Huo’s room walked out.
This player had not shown up during the day. After coming out, he stayed in the living room for a while, then went to the short-haired female player’s door and stood there for about half a minute.
After half a minute, he turned and left, heading to One-Eyed’s door, maintaining a two-step distance. He apparently planned to stand there as he had before, but One-Eyed didn’t let him. As the door opened silently, the player was knocked back into the room behind him and kept stuck to the wall by the force of a prop.
Unable to come down himself, One-Eyed similarly couldn’t leave. Blocked in his room by an unseen force, he tried to break free with his dagger but found he couldn’t. He swiftly changed tactics and melted a large hole in the wall of his room with his prop.
"Do you think you can trap me like this?" One-Eyed sneered. But as soon as he stepped out, he immediately covered his mouth and nose and quickly retreated back to his room. Unfortunately, the damaged room couldn’t be used to cut off the air. He put on a protective mask and leapt out of the room, immediately spending money to open the adjacent room.
However, as soon as the door opened, the player stuck to the wall was pulled onto One-Eyed’s back, like a magnet, both arms wrapping around him. In an instant, they stiffened together like conjoined twins—more precisely, it was One-Eyed who stiffened. As he turned his head, a prop fell to the ground, and a burst of unseen force knocked the other player back.
Although the player had stuck onto him, the two had already entered the room, so even though the prop separated them now, the player only bumped into the door as it closed.
With the view inside and outside cut off, continuous fighting noises were heard, followed by a scream from someone, and then silence.
A few seconds later, sounds of chewing and swallowing came from the room.
Dawn arrived soon.
The few people who had stayed in the room left one after another. Signs of the fight remained, and the short-haired female player called the attendant to clean up, but no one mentioned the events of the previous night. Just like the day before, the female player sat in the middle, and the player with the mechanical dog went to the window to view the scenery.
The attendant quickly removed two pieces of broken furniture and ignored the two rooms covered in holes and bloodstains.
It was One-Eyed who had died last night. Shangguan Xi couldn’t hold back and eventually opened that room, then quickly closed it again.
"Fuck, only the inedible parts left," he said in a low voice to Xu Huo, "What do you think he was doing standing outside the door last night?"
"Maybe it was fishing," said Xu Huo. "To see who would be crazy enough to step outside."
As soon as he said this, the three players present all turned their heads to look at him.
Xu Huo simply said, "Staying in your room at night is the safest."
That was what he said, but who knew what kind of prop the Cannibal Player had—staying in the room might not be safe either.
"Will he come out again tonight?" Shangguan Xi whispered.
"Maybe he ate his fill last night," Xu Huo suggested as he planned to go to the dining car for breakfast, casually asking if Shangguan Xi would join him.
Shangguan Xi looked warily at the closed door of the Cannibal Player’s room, following his footsteps as they left the train carriage, then said, "Should we change to another carriage? A Rank-C Cannibal Player’s prop must be formidable."
"Changing might not be safe either." Xu Huo replied, "Carriage sixteen has only one Cannibal Player, the situation in other carriages is uncertain."
As they passed Carriage seventeen, everything within that could be smashed had been destroyed. The floor was everywhere streaked with blood and even some items that looked suspiciously like internal organs lay scattered about. It wasn’t clear how many Players were still alive here, but two were obviously uninterested in the food provided by the train; they sat on a sofa, a row of crystal cups filled with a bright red liquid laid out on a blood-smeared table. One of them raised his glass in a gesture, then gulped down the liquid in a greedy, frantic manner, spilling much of it from the corners of his mouth onto his clothes.
The scene wasn’t a pretty sight.
Xu Huo ignored the two, their drooling gaze that seemed almost threatening, and as usual, entered the dining car behind them.
Shangguan Xi looked disturbed and only after sitting down did he say, "Let’s just eat in the carriage from now on."
From carriage nineteen onwards, the last three carriages were empty, leaving this dining area to just eighteen and the two carriages ahead of it.
Yesterday, there were four people visible in the dining area, but today, the Player couple was absent. The woman reading and the man with bandages were still in the same spots, and now there were two more injured persons—it wasn’t clear if they had come from carriage eighteen or seventeen.
And the situation in carriage eighteen wasn’t much better; only two were left alive.
As Players’ ranks increased, the internal strife among them had obviously intensified.
By the time a waiter passed through the carriages to bring breakfast to the dining area, the two Cannibal Players from carriage seventeen had also entered, sitting at a table adjacent to Xu Huo and Shangguan Xi, staring at them from either side.
Almost as soon as they sat down, Shangguan Xi unconsciously tensed up, ready for a fight, switching his dining utensils for a prop.
This made the two Cannibal Players laugh. Buzz Cut on the left stood up, intending to approach them, but at that moment, Xu Huo gently tapped his plate and looked up directly at him, "I think it’s best you don’t disturb our meal, don’t you agree?"
Buzz Cut chuckled, turned his head to reply, but suddenly found the table – previously within arm’s reach – being pulled away. Like being at two ends of a tugged force, both Xu Huo and Shangguan Xi seated on one table and Buzz Cut on the other moved backwards involuntarily!
"Thud!" Buzz Cut stumbled a couple of steps, crashing into a table behind him. When he looked at Xu Huo again, his face slightly changed. He gritted his teeth, stared at him for two seconds, then turned and went back to his carriage.
His partner, not understanding what had just happened but still cautious, also cast a wary glance at Xu Huo before leaving.
The process of Mental Interference had only lasted for a few seconds, leaving Shangguan Xi also unsure of what had occurred. Glancing around with a puzzled expression, as if about to ask something, he was interrupted when the Player woman sitting behind them approached, "May I sit here?"
Xu Huo glanced at the book in her hand; understanding the hint, she put away the book before sitting down. Looking at the table, she then said, "The train’s breakfast includes a dish of fresh fish that tastes quite good. May I treat you both to try it?"
Xu Huo didn’t reply, but Shangguan Xi hurriedly said, "No need, no need, we’ve ordered enough."
The Player woman laughed lightly, "You’re making it hard for me to continue the conversation; I’m almost embarrassed to sit here."
She gave off a uniquely congenial vibe, causing Shangguan Xi to smile as well.
