Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die! -
Chapter 821
Chapter 821: Chapter 821
"You make sense," Xu Huo’s gaze grew heavier. If the premise that different spaces have different times held true, then the game world should contain more than just one special motion space, and the "times" of these spaces might not be equivalent. In other words, if spaces with "curved time" have unique spacetime travel jump points, the distance of "time" jumps would vary, and as long as you find an appropriate "curved time," theoretically, you could travel to any past or future time.
The temptation was enormous.
While he was silent, the other players had already begun to let their thoughts wander. Jinxed Appearance said, "If I could traverse space, I’d definitely kill the damn inventor of this game first thing, make him pay for not acting humanely!"
Someone laughed beside him, "If you killed the inventor of the game, how would you be able to complete spacetime travel? That’s a paradox; it doesn’t make any sense at all. The so-called differences in time duration are just a way for the game to fool the players. How can you be sure your perception is correct? What if the past few days weren’t really the length of time we thought they were?"
"I’m just saying if!" Jinxed Appearance argued loudly, "If spacetime travel were possible, I’d bet ninety-nine percent of people would definitely destroy the game!"
"That’s not necessarily true," said an old man with a chuckle, "Then there are people like me, who can only cling to life thanks to the game."
"You’re different," Jinxed Appearance muttered before saying, "Everyone has lost relatives or friends because of the game. Wouldn’t it be nice to bring them back?"
"Sure, it’d be nice, but it’s just wishful thinking," the player with the Duck Tongue Cap said, "Since it’s all fantasy anyway, we might as well think about happy things. If you could traverse space, you would definitely go back and use all sorts of methods to get rich. Then, entering the game, you could buy whatever you want."
And so, the conversation shifted to the pleasant daydreams of spending newfound riches.
"...I’d buy a mountain for my master to build a temple on, to repay him for raising me," Yan Jiayu said with a beaming smile.
"What about your parents?" Jinxed Appearance asked.
"They left me at my master’s doorstep and walked away," Yan Jiayu replied. "My master told me when I was little that if he hadn’t arrived in time, I would’ve definitely been carried off by wild boars."
Many people looked at her with sympathetic eyes, and the female player knitting yarn said rather indignantly, "Some people simply don’t deserve to be parents!"
"Now that you’re a player, haven’t you thought about finding them?" Jinxed Appearance said with a wicked grin, "To go back and slap them hard in their faces."
"Why should I slap them in the face?" Yan Jiayu wondered. "Although they didn’t take care of me, they sent money to my master every month. The secluded mountaintop where my master cultivates was also borrowed from them, and they would regularly send me clothes and toys."
"No, if your parents are so wealthy, why would they leave you at the foot of the mountain to feed to the wild boars?" Jinxed Appearance combined the entire story and came to the core of his own understanding.
Yan Jiayu’s face was one of shock, "When did I say they used me to feed the pigs?"
Similarly, she refined the core of the story.
With big eyes staring at small eyes, the two calmly discussed what could very well be the dialogue from a horror story.
Xu Huo coughed lightly from the side, "I think, your master is crucial in this story."
"You’ve been tricked!" Jinxed Appearance felt he had reclaimed some ground.
Yet Yan Jiayu just smiled and said, "My master wouldn’t deceive me."
She spoke with gravity and conviction, and it seemed out of place to continue joking around, so Jinxed Appearance changed the subject, "Never figured you were a rich second-generation."
Yan Jiayu didn’t care much about her attire; simple and neat was enough, and her brisk short hair added an innocent youthful quality. However, likely due to her upbringing, her clothes were mostly inexpensive and frequently washed, clearly well taken care of.
"I only got my bank card just before I entered the game." She was in the same carriage as Xu Huo because her parents hadn’t yet managed to deposit money into the account of their daughter, who had just descended the mountain.
"But after initial approval, exchanging the zone’s local currency for White Notes became more difficult, and you could only exchange less— it was hardly worth it."
As a result, she preferred to earn money in the game by selling props and potions, and of course, she spent all the money she earned.
"Actually, there’s more than one way to make money besides buying and selling," the player with the Duck Tongue Cap interjected. "Many wealthy people hire bodyguards. Some pay by time, others by event, the pay is very high, and you can even request to be paid in advanced items."
"I’ve done that sort of job," the old man said, "But the risks are high. It’s often about escorting important items. The kinds of players that advanced items or important experimental products attract are unpredictable. When compared, the pay is nothing special."
"Actually, teaching courses to young ladies and young masters is also feasible," the female player knitting yarn said, "Or guiding them through game levels. But for these kinds of tasks, to guarantee the employer’s safety, a mandatory contract is required."
"All your tasks are so impressive..." Jinxed Appearance paused before saying, "Hasn’t anyone else here mined like me?"
Everyone turned to look at him, their gazes becoming subtly charged.
"Mining for real?" Yan Jiayu was genuinely interested, "Are there any fun ores? I’ll trade with you."
"When you’re poor and short of options, you do what you must," Jinxed Appearance replied. "I was starving and had no other means but to work as a miner. I mined a type of white ore; the Game Government bought it at a high price. It seems to be one of the raw materials for making weapons."
"There are many materials for making weapons. Do you have any with you?" the old man asked.
Jinxed Appearance immediately produced a milky white, squarely-formed ore, "This is just the dregs, with impurities. The real high-quality material is slightly translucent and looks like it absorbs light."
There were knowledgeable people in the carriage, and someone quickly named the white ore and provided its origins, saying, "This type of ore is usually sent to the Eye of Platinum. As for its use, there are many."
"Eye of Platinum produces precision instruments, including various advanced thermal weapons," the old man stated. "There’s a saying: Even the richest man in the world would come out with a thinner wallet. Good stuff there, but also expensive."
"No kidding," Jinxed Appearance interjected quickly, "I heard their new Energy Cannon, even the slightly poorer game zones can’t afford it."
"But I’ve heard that the mayor of Eye of Platinum is looking for a suitor for his daughter. That’s the princess of Eye of Platinum! Dark, long hair, and you can smell her fragrance from a distance. And those cheeks... Although I’ve only seen her side profile, she’s definitely a beauty. Too bad, I’ve got a girlfriend already..."
"You don’t look anything special, but you sure do dream big," the crowd burst into laughter, "You’re talking about the princess of Eye of Platinum. Do you think she left the Eye of Platinum to come watch you mine?"
