Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 818: Internal Consumption

Chapter 818: Chapter 818: Internal Consumption

Despite having temporarily escaped the danger, the atmosphere within the team was clearly not as before. Fatigued, all the players were on guard against each other, especially since during the previous escape, at least ten players had died under mysterious circumstances.

Xu Huo took the initiative to walk over to the vehicle commander, greeted him, and asked, "Is there any significance to when it gets light and dark?"

"They’re about the same. If space is an issue, it doesn’t matter whether it’s day or night, but it’s clearer during the day why people die," the vehicle commander nonchalantly said. "But if we stay in the light, the Orbital Supply Department is less likely to miss us."

The staff member who had taken their meal orders added a comment, "Spaces with normal day and night cycles are relatively stable."

That is to say, even on the orbit, the alternation of day and night is a recognized order.

Xu Huo then sat beside him, and soon Yan Jiayu came over as well. She generously shared her food with the staff, and most accepted it. However, the vehicle commander said, "The rescue team hasn’t arrived yet, you dare to share your food with others?"

"Weren’t you saying they’d be here soon?" Yan Jiayu responded matter-of-factly, "The last few days were an anomaly; those don’t count. There shouldn’t be any problems now, and if the rescue team takes too long, I think there will be issues far more serious than a food crisis."

She was right; a strange atmosphere had already started brewing among the players.

Neither of them went back, and soon the older members of the team moved over to their side as well. Their larger group attracted many wary glances.

Someone sneered, "Even brothers will bash each other’s brains out over a bite of food."

Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu didn’t take such comments to heart, but the elders had already started rationing their food, eating a piece of jerky and drinking some water every hour or two.

It was common for players to go hungry; this was normal. Yan Jiayu was the first to distribute food like this.

"You can’t fight if you’re not full," she said cheerfully. "If someone tries to rob me, I’ll just rob their food."

No one took that as a joke.

Soon it was evening, and not long after darkness fell, the vehicle commander refrained from using illumination props, forcing other players to light up for themselves. But their props couldn’t last long, and as soon as the first group’s lighting props failed, players began to make their moves.

Xu Huo was leaning against Yan Jiayu’s soft sofa, slightly tilting his head to watch the entire process of the fight unfold. Some players affected by the combat used illumination props, but the flickering lights soon died out—the players attempting to use lighting during combat became easy targets.

These people all wanted to kill their opponents and seize their resources under the cover of darkness.

Xu Huo was not the only one who could see in the dark. Apart from the staff, Xu Huo spotted at least four others, including a player nearby sporting a Duck Tongue Cap.

The person saw him too, nodded in acknowledgment, and then looked away.

Eventually, the fighting ended temporarily with four players dead. As the scent of blood wafted through the air, some people covertly swallowed their saliva. Not long after, sounds of tearing and chewing came from the rear of the group.

"Damn it!" someone cursed softly, but judging by the number, there were at least five or six players involved. Unless some players were willing to cooperate, two or three people alone couldn’t possibly overpower others.

Most ignored this cannibalistic behavior.

Three more incidents occurred afterward. The first two were instigated by other players, each ending with a player’s death. However, it was the third time when two female players suddenly approached the pink-haired female player.

The trio began fighting, and nearby players, including the Jinxed Appearance, quickly stepped back to clear some space, asking, "What’s going on, why are they fighting?"

"What else could it be? They saw her injured and thought to take advantage," one of the card-playing male players said, "Didn’t those two also go out and kill two people the night before..."

He hadn’t finished speaking when a female player not far from them suddenly attacked, and two Automatic Beast Clips unexpectedly pierced through Jinxed Appearance’s calves!

Jinxed Appearance screamed and threw a separation prop at the female player. She was trapped inside a standing isolation box, and he quickly locked the isolation box with a padlock!

Seeing the female player struggling inside but unable to escape, Jinxed Appearance couldn’t help saying, "Why is it always me..."

Before he could finish, the female player broke through the isolation box and pounced on him, completely disregarding the players nearby who were playing cards together.

The man who had been speaking earlier teased Jinxed Appearance, "Looks like you really attract hatred, did you say something offensive?"

Jinxed Appearance had indeed spoken to the female player before, but it was just a greeting. "Really? Are women this vindictive?"

Meanwhile, the injured Pink Hair was driven to Xu Huo’s side by two female players. Since those two had struck first, other players didn’t help, allowing Pink Hair to dodge towards Xu Huo without specifically avoiding him. However, just then, Xu Huo suddenly reached out!

Taken by surprise, Pink Hair used a prop to dodge past him in a way impossible for an ordinary person, turning around to counterattack when Yan Jiayu appeared with the Demon-Subduing Pestle. She wielded the ordinary-looking Stone Stick with a force that produced a cracking air sound!

Pink Hair quickly retreated.

However, Xu Huo’s actual target wasn’t her but another short-haired female player behind her. As she approached him, her speed and movements slowed. She then saw the mirror in his hand and her eyes instantly lost focus.

"Bang! Bang!" Moving Metal automatically blocked the short-haired woman’s attack while Xu Huo successfully grabbed her by the throat, rendering her unconscious with a pinch.

Compared to him, Yan Jiayu was much more direct and brutal. Wielding the stick, she could counter all kinds of props like swords and knives as long as the opponent wasn’t vastly faster than her. Using her physical strength alone, she could make her opponent’s grip on their weapons unstable.

The curly-haired female player received a couple of blows before promptly distancing herself, but she was dragged back by Yan Jiayu’s friendly "touch." A gentle tap on the back of the head with the stick, and she too fell to the ground.

Dragging the two together, Yan Jiayu asked, "Is there anything wrong with them?"

Xu Huo looked back at Pink Hair, "Did you start this?"

"It wasn’t me," Pink Hair said defensively.

Xu Huo crouched down to inspect the two women. At least the skin exposed outside didn’t reveal any strange signs. Considering their behavior and speech beforehand, they didn’t seem like they would suddenly go berserk, especially since they still had plenty of food. Pink Hair’s combat abilities were well-documented; there was no need for aggression.

"Wake them up and ask some questions." Yan Jiayu took out a coffin-lid-like prop and covered the curly-haired woman, leaving only her head exposed, then splashed water on her to wake her up.

"Ugh..."
