Chapter 794: The Prey Might Be the Hunter

Chapter 794: Chapter 794: The Prey Might Be the Hunter

The room was dead silent. Xiao Yuan squatted outside the door for a while and, seeing that a good number of figures were approaching the alley entrance, quickly stood up and gently knocked on the door.

There was no response from inside the room, and people began to appear at both ends of the alley, even on the rooftops opposite.

Xiao Yuan pressed herself against the wall in fear.

One man took a couple of steps forward, waving his hand signaling her to move aside.

Xiao Yuan obviously recognized the man, her body reflexively shuddering, but she still didn’t move away.

Seeing this, the man frowned and asked someone nearby, "How old is this girl now?"

"She’s about to turn ten."

"Old enough." The man who had asked gestured to others to take Xiao Yuan away. However, at that moment, the adjacent door opened.

Xu Huo was still sitting in the wheelchair; to facilitate the entry and exit of the wheelchair, the door was wide open, allowing those outside to clearly see the situation inside.

Several kids were already scared stiff, and all the adults were lying on the ground. Given the blood everywhere, it was impossible for them to be alive.

As the wheelchair came out of the door, Xu Huo scanned the people nearby and afar, "You all came together; saves me the effort of finding you one by one."

He casually flipped through a thug’s phone, stopping on one photo and holding it up, "This is you, right?"

He was addressing the man who had asked about Xiao Yuan’s age.

"Don’t think you can ignore the rules here just because you’re a player." The man stepped back several paces to hide behind others and added, "We have plenty of ways to deal with injured players!"

As soon as he finished speaking, a net launcher fired from above.

It was a piece of equipment, though not a high-grade one. Xu Huo dealt with it with a single strike of his sword. In the time it took for a lighter to flicker on and off, the two players who had followed the net down were set ablaze and rolled down from mid-air. Before the two could get up, one had his neck slit open, and the other was hoisted high into the air by a piano wire, only to then plummet down.

The fall wasn’t high enough to kill a player, but it was enough to break bones. The player looked up at Xu Huo and gritted his teeth, prepared to retreat, but in the next second, a kite line shot toward him!

Seeing the tide turning against him, the player immediately dodged into the game.

But the kite line didn’t miss its mark, grabbing a thug nearby instead. The burly man was yanked up into the air, then pummeled by Xu Huo’s fist—even from a distance of two or three meters, one could hear the sound of his sternum shattering. Two seconds later, the man who had crashed into the wall across the street was breathless.

"Ding! Ding! Ding!" The sound of the lighter opening and closing set several of the peripheral thugs alight. As the flames rose, they could no longer focus on anything else and ran helter-skelter in panic.

"It’s not nice to disturb others’ rest late at night." With quick reflexes, Xu Huo used the kite line to pull these people back and took the opportunity to reap a few more lives.

It seemed like only a few blinks of an eye, and half of those present were down. The previously arrogant thug panicked and yelled towards the mouth of the alley, "Brother Xing! If you don’t make a move, we’re all done for!"

Only then did two people appear at the alleyway’s entrance, one of whom threw out a piece of black cloth. The flames on the thugs were instantly extinguished once wrapped by the black cloth, but the severe injuries were unavoidable.

But these two players didn’t care about the life and death of the thugs. One stepped on the wall rushing toward Xu Huo, while the other leaped several meters high and launched an assault from the air!

"Crimson Sword" whirled through the air as Xu Huo first forced one opponent back with a move and then raised an "Air Barrier" to block a person falling from the sky. Seizing the moment while they were still close, he retracted the "Concentrated Air" and applied "Extreme Fatigue" and "Progress Bar Disappearance Technique."

The speed of the two visibly slowed down, but at that moment, Xu Huo’s wheelchair slid towards both like it had hit a patch of ice.

Since they weren’t far apart to begin with, the two players demonstrated seamless teamwork. One stood three meters away and brought his palms together, an invisible force flanking the wheelchair from both sides. Despite the wheels spinning rapidly, it couldn’t change the fate of the wheelchair being crushed and deformed, and the person inside seemed even more trapped within it!

Meanwhile, another player threw a pink ribbon that wrapped itself around Xu Huo and the wheelchair, restraining him from escaping, before pulling out a spear-like prop and hurling it his way!

Truth be told, these two weren’t slow, and they coordinated their props well. They even maintained a certain distance while fighting, knowing that even a gap of two or three meters could limit the effects of their props. However, this also revealed a significant weakness: their overreliance on props and traits, while the levels of their props were not very high.

Xu Huo lifted "Eye of the Deceased" to block the spear, pushed it aside, then cut off the ribbons wrapped around him. At this moment, the pressure on the wheelchair vanished, and he turned back with a smile at that player.

The other’s face registered shock, and he immediately tried to retreat, but, unbeknownst to him, a kite string had already ensnared his leg. With a backward stumble and a pull, the player was tripped onto the ground and ended with a sword strike.

After that, Xu Huo turned to look at the remaining player.

"Brother Xing..." The delinquent’s voice trembled, "Hurry up and kill him!"

With his ally dead, Brother Xing didn’t bother to listen to the thug; any distraction could be exploited. Just now, even when Xu Huo had been bound and squeezed, he had still found an opportunity to use a prop, and in a one-on-one situation, he would have even more chances to strike.

"You have decent props, but you’re crippled!" Brother Xing retracted his spear and switched to a whip, making sure to keep a safe distance before attacking from afar.

However, before he could even lash out, he felt the ground beneath him give way: there was a pit that had seemingly appeared out of nowhere. He fell for a few seconds before steadying himself, only to look up and find himself standing right in front of the wheelchair!

Locking eyes with Xu Huo, Brother Xing’s fear had not yet translated into action before his heart was pierced.

Xu Huo withdrew his sword and kicked the man into a wall with his intact right foot, then turned to Xiao Yuan and said, "A weakness that is in plain sight is not necessarily a weakness, be cautious and observant, for it may well be a trap."

Mixed with fear and excitement, Xiao Yuan ran over to the wheelchair and called out loudly, "I’ve got it, Teacher!"

Xu Huo slightly raised his eyebrow but didn’t correct her. After taking care of the remaining few, he was ready to leave.

"I saw several people on the rooftops earlier," Xiao Yuan volunteered as she pushed the wheelchair and spoke in a soft voice.

"If they don’t come down, it’s none of our business," Xu Huo said, then pointed at the corpses on the ground, "Is there anyone left?"

Xiao Yuan nodded vigorously, "Two more, I know where they are!"

Xu Huo let her push him there.

They were followed all the way, but no one else made a move, and Xu Huo easily dealt with the human trafficking ring before returning to the hotel with Xiao Yuan.

The hotel owner had already packed up, ready to flee. Seeing Xu Huo return, the man’s eyelid twitched, and he approached with a face full of flattery, "You’re back so soon?"

Xu Huo glanced at the car loaded with gasoline and food, "I’ll borrow your car."
