Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 792 Testing Truth and Falsehood

Chapter 792: Chapter 792 Testing Truth and Falsehood

Xu Huo could tell she hadn’t had enough to eat, but at his signal, she still put down her chopsticks, "Thank you, Uncle, this is the best meal I’ve ever had!"

"This city had been abandoned for several years, where are you from?" he asked.

"I’ve always lived here." Xiao Yuan said, "I was born here with my grandma, and after my family died, it was Grandma who took me in. But she died two years ago, and now I’m left alone."

"Haven’t you thought about going to another city?" Xu Huo said, "Other cities have protective policies for children and teenagers, which would be better than staying here."

"There’s no better place." Xiao Yuan lowered her head, "Those who went out all died, I’ve seen their bodies in the garbage piles."

Garbage heaps in the small city are usually brought in from other cities and generally don’t contain discarded bodies, as both government and the Player Organization consider the problem of disease transmission. If there were still bodies mixed in the trash dumped out, it would have to be through some unsavory channels.

After chatting casually for a bit more, Xu Huo gave her ten dollars and let her go.

Before Xiao Yuan left, she also asked him, "Do you want me to buy food for you later?"

"Come get the money yourself when it’s time." Xu Huo said.

"Thank you, Uncle, you are really kind!" Xiao Yuan walked away happily.

Xu Huo turned his wheelchair towards the window and then hung the "Murmur Sphere" on his button.

About five minutes later, the hotel room door was kicked open from the outside, and a rough voice arose, "Resisting arrest is punishable by death!"

Along with the voice, two sets of very light footsteps entered the room, one from the left and one from the right, converging towards Xu Huo.

But at that moment, as the wheelchair turned around, one of the male Players was sent flying by an invisible force, and the woman made it to Xu Huo’s side successfully. However, before she could strike, she found herself weightless and floating in the air, in a panic she caught sight of a mirror and then was blinded.

"I can’t see!" she yelled, trying to retreat, but Xu Huo didn’t give her the chance. The Water Cutter Gun sliced through her throat from a distance.

There were two more, one at the door and one less than three meters away. Seeing their comrades being killed did not discourage them. Instead, they charged forward with ferocious expressions.

"Beautiful Ray" effortlessly sliced off the foot of one of them while the Murmur Sphere took effect. Xu Huo simply put up the Air Barrier in front of him to block most of their attacks. During their frantic use of props, they were unaware that the Murmur Sphere was influencing their minds.

They began to hallucinate before their eyes, shooting their guns wildly. In their panic, the one at the door ended up killing his own comrade!

Although the remaining one was still in the throes of hallucination and not yet lucid, Xu Huo didn’t want to watch any longer. After dealing with him, he returned to the window. He did not open the curtains but used a detector to check for any Players still lurking around.

The levels of the equipment owned by these Players were not very high. With a vanguard among Players, whether they were comrades or not, none dared to come and check what had transpired inside the room after all the noises ceased.

Indeed, the Players who lingered here were either severely injured and temporarily unable to enter instances, or were those who could no longer stay in other cities, essentially bottom-tier and incapable of causing significant trouble.

Ignoring the corpses in the room, Xu Huo sat there all afternoon. By dinner time, sensation had returned to his left shoulder, but his arms and legs were still not functioning properly, preventing him from walking and handling things efficiently.

Xiao Yuan arrived on time.

"The door is unlocked, come in."

The little girl pushed the door open and took a step back in fright upon seeing the unseemly dead bodies on the floor, but she quickly composed herself and made an effort to walk into the room, "Uncle, do you want to deal with these people? I can call someone to help."

Xu Huo smiled and said, "Call the boss to handle it."

Xiao Yuan went and returned quickly. The boss was already accustomed to such scenes, and though he looked at Xu Huo with a bit of caution, he only tentatively and softly mentioned a charge for the depreciation of the furniture. When Xu Huo actively mentioned compensating for the damages, the boss got to work with more vigor, not only personally getting rid of the bodies, but also replacing the carpet soaked in blood.

"How about changing rooms?" the boss suggested with a hint of eagerness.

"No need." Xu Huo tapped his fingers on the armrest of his wheelchair, "The smell of blood will remind others of what happened here."

The boss had no more to say and left. Xiao Yuan followed him downstairs, as she was off to buy food.

This time, however, she took longer, returning with her clothes torn and her lips covered in blood, one of her teeth missing.

"They took my food and the money... I’ll pay you back..." Xiao Yuan shivered as she spoke, "I’ve saved some money... I can sneak back and steal the money tonight... Uncle, don’t kill me..."

The wheelchair squeaked forward, each sound made the little girl tremble uncontrollably, and when it stopped, she knelt down, continuously kowtowing, "Don’t kill me... Don’t kill me... I’m useful... I will pay back the money... In a few more years, when I’m older, I can earn even more..."

Xu Huo observed her for a while before saying, "Why didn’t you run? I can’t walk, and I might have to leave here before I recover from my injuries. You would just need to hide for a few days."

Tears dropped from Xiao Yuan’s eyes "plop, plop," and she choked out, "I wanted to run... but I’m scared... no one has been as kind to me as Grandma... I’m afraid if I run away, I’ll never find another kind person..."

Xu Huo sighed, "I can’t take you away from here."

"I know, only Players can use tickets!" Xiao Yuan looked up, "I want to become a Player when I grow up! I can leave this place on my own!"

"Uncle, you’re so powerful, you can take me somewhere else!" she clung to Xu Huo’s leg," even if it’s the deep mountains and old forests!"

"You can’t leave here?" Xu Huo said.

Xiao Yuan shook her head, "They won’t let girls go because girls can be sold for money. When we turn ten, we’re sent away... I don’t know where they go, but sometimes I find their bodies in the trash heaps... They die horribly, covered in wounds... their eyes wide open..."

"Have you told anyone else about this?" Xu Huo’s expression remained unchanged.

"I daren’t..." Xiao Yuan looked at him pleadingly, "I’m going to be ten soon..."

Xu Huo didn’t respond to her but said, "You should leave now, don’t come tomorrow."

Xiao Yuan’s eyes immediately dimmed. She seemed to understand the rules of survival well and did not linger or plead, instead, she turned and ran away.

Xu Huo heard the thunder outside and after a while, he called the boss back and asked, "Where are the people who robbed me holed up?"
