Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 770: Refreshing Quadra Kill

Chapter 770: Chapter 770: Refreshing Quadra Kill

"You’re not from Zone 009, are you?" Lu Zhen looked at him with a hint of envy, "Zone 009 has just merged with the game’s zone, and I heard that the instance is full of items and potions everywhere, easy to pick up. It’s a pity my Player Level is too low, I dare not go to the already public fixed instances."

"Easy to pick up?" Xu Huo laughed, "Do you see any items around here?"

Lu Zhen exhaled, "It seems not."

The conversation between the two paused for a moment, and then footsteps echoed in the corridor outside: the first Temporary Host had emerged.

Lu Zhen immediately tensed up, quickly stood up, and walked to the door, pressing her ear against it to listen carefully, "Coming from the left..."

She had barely finished speaking when she couldn’t help but jerk back, retreating to the side of the door and conjuring an axe in her hand, raising it high.

But the person outside simply stopped at the door for a moment then moved on forward.

Lu Zhen let out a sigh of relief, after hearing the footsteps fade away she returned to her position behind the door, listened for a good while with no further developments, and couldn’t help but turn around and mouth a question to Xu Huo, "What’s going on?"

"Maybe he thought it over and felt that killing isn’t worth it and went back," Xu Huo said.

Being a Temporary Host might seem privileged, but in fact, they are greatly restricted. On the day they become the villa’s host, they must maintain the cleanliness of the villa and cannot destroy the original structure. Even though they can go out at night, and have the authority to kill one player, with two players living in one room, it’s very difficult to ensure no accidents happen.

The instance’s rules are notified separately for the Temporary Host and the guests, and whether there’s an overlap in the rights and responsibilities of both parties is still hard to say.

However, on the flip side, while this instance seems to have many rules, the best way to be a good Temporary Host is to conceal one’s identity and behave for one day. As long as one doesn’t cause trouble, that day they would be "a competent host."

Lu Zhen also understood, "But would others think the same way?"

If every player thought this way, the instance wouldn’t have such a high death rate.

By the next morning, as expected, people had died; both players from the first room on the left side of the second floor were dead, and one person from across Xu Huo and on the right side each had died in their rooms.

Two people being killed in the same room is understandable, after all, the "Temporary Host" is best off dealing with both at once to not reveal themselves, but one person’s death is abnormal. It’s only the first night, and although the instance didn’t explicitly state whether the remaining person breaching the first rule for guests if the other dies, players did not target their roommates as a precaution.

The girl who opened the door yesterday lived in the room opposite, while the two from the initial group of eight who had arrived at the villa were on the right. The one who survived was Buzz Cut, whose complexion didn’t look too good as he spoke, "I’ve already examined the corpses, they were poisoned to death."

"Isn’t that the same way those two died?" A doll-faced female player standing behind a man in a raincoat pointed at a nearby room.

The two individuals who had occupied the first room on the left side were on the same route as Lu Zhen, and it was unexpected that they had been killed the first night. Lu Zhen examined their corpses and found a pair of puncture marks on their necks, "They seem to have been bitten to death by snakes."

With four players dying in the same manner, the others couldn’t help but be puzzled, "Could there be poisonous snakes in the villa?"

"What poisonous snakes?" The sultry female player twirled her hair, her electrifying eyes roaming over everyone, "Do you think so many players wouldn’t notice a poisonous snake? They must have been taken for pretty useless if that’s the case, it’s obviously the handiwork of a player."

"The method of killing is very unique, very fitting for this game," she laughed, "Everyone, be careful."

Right after she finished speaking, she suddenly lashed out at the Red-Haired player standing beside her, "Lush waterweeds!"

A large mass of green wet vegetation burst forth like streamers from a small orb and wrapped around the Red-Haired player like an octopus. Red-Haired barely had time to cry out in alarm before he was overwhelmed by the waterweeds. By the time he tore them off to retaliate, the man in the raincoat delivered a powerful kick, sending him into the adjacent room.

Along with the sound of "crackling," a table inside the room was smashed to pieces.

"Damn it!" Red-Haired charged out, but the man in the raincoat easily dodged his punches, casually saying, "Don’t be so hot-tempered. As long as you weren’t last night’s Temporary Host, there’s no problem with breaking things."

Red-Haired froze, realizing why they had attacked him, and angrily said, "You think I did the murders!"

"No way around it," the sultry female player smiled at him, "Since I heard footsteps coming from your direction last night, and the person sharing the room with me died silently, I’m really scared."

Red-Haired was fuming, but in the face of other players who looked equally suspicious, he didn’t dare to completely fall out with these two. After all, he was just "suspected"; if he really fought, he would immediately be confirmed as the culprit. To avoid a ticking bomb that could explode at any moment, the players would join forces to kill him— a Temporary Host who damages the villa breaches the rules that all hosts must follow and would not be able to pass the instance.

"How hard is it to fake footsteps?" he said, "Besides, the person staying with me died too, what good does it do me to kill him?"

"That’s why we didn’t really try to kill you," the doll-faced girl said with a smile, "If the footsteps are fake, then we’d be falling into someone else’s trap, right? If you’re not the Temporary Host, then everyone’s happy. If you are, then we are happy."

Red-Haired had no response, but was helpless.

"If one person is missing from a room, doesn’t that violate the first rule for guests?" Lu Zhen spoke up, "It’s a big risk to become the Temporary Host and do that."

"They fear revealing their identity," the young player with the dagger said, "How could the Temporary Host kill someone outside without avoiding the person they share the room with?"

He stared coldly at the sultry female player and Red-Haired, "Looking at it this way, you two are the most suspicious."

His words made the atmosphere a bit more awkward. At that moment, Xu Huo spoke up, "Maybe someone did this deliberately to provoke conflict among the players. After all, the more people who die, the less risk for the others. Instead of discussing who was last night’s Temporary Host, it might be better to think about how to guard against such dangerous items."

"But guests can’t go out at night, and there aren’t any peepholes in the doors so you can’t see outside. I guess what happened last night won’t repeat tonight; instead, we should worry about whether someone will take advantage of the chaos during the day to act."

"Should we try to find out who last night’s players were first?" someone suggested, "Since the Temporary Host can’t destroy the villa, we can test each one!"

No sooner had the person finished speaking than everyone’s gaze turned to them.
